    Mini USB Broken

I've always had trouble getting the cable plugged in to the Mophie case. Now, at 6 months old, the connector is shot & I can't charge it any more. WAS very happy with the extra battery life & protection the case offers. Almost every review mentions the Mini USB problem

    Must be an iPhone issue

I've got a 4S and bought a mophie that worked great. Suddenly it won't charge my iPhone! The phone will charge when I plug the mophie into the power cord, but not when it's unplugged. So I bought a new one--same thing! Went to yet another store and they tried my phone in a mophie there and the very same things happened. The clerk plugged in his 4S and it was fine. So the mophie works, and my phone can get charged THRU the mophie to the power cord, but not BY the mophie, whether its a new or old unit. What gives???

recessed buttons are hard to press

    • Written by from Brooklyn

First off, this thing is a lot more bulky and heavy than you might think from the photos. The thin and light iPhone becomes kind of a brick — but that's just going to be true with any external battery case with enough volume to provide a decent charge.

Regarding this case in particular: the buttons on your phone end up very recessed, so you have to really dig to get at them. More fumbling for the volume, for the lock button, for the ringer/silent switch.

They could have just gone the route a lot of thicker cases take and create outer buttons that press through to the buttons on the phone itself — but they didn't.

Otherwise, this case seems (so far) to be very well made and lives up to its power claims.

Great looking but such proor build quality - STILL!

Why don't Morphie address the USB issue, my second USB socket as gone the same way as the first, not working. I treated this one with kid gloves and it's lasted less time than the first! I bought it from Apple so hope they will replace it, but after this one gives up (which reading these reviews, it will) unfortunately I think that's it for me and Morphie. Such a shame as it is very good in every other way and has got me out of problems on those long days when I fly. Also it's really good in the hand and I think improves the look of my iPhone.

    USB Port Issues

    • Written by from Eagle River

8 of 9 people found this useful

You Would Think After Years of Problems They Would Improve the USB Port. I've read many reviews going back years and always the same issue with the USB. Mophie has replaced 4 for me so far. I take good care of my things and this case is no exception. I like the look and feel of the case and battery is great but I'm tired of having to ship mine back every 6-8 months for a replacement. Also, my first replacement they sent me back a used one, not even in original packing. Had to ship that one back too for a NEW case, only to have the same issue with the USB. I'm going to try a different, cheaper brand and see how I do!

The product does what it is designed to do but when mine is in standby mode it mutes my phone. I had the same problem with the Mophie I had for a month and the Apple store replaced it; now this one is doing the same thing !???

Should I try a third time?

    • Written by from Scottsdale

I purchased my first Mophie. I had to return it after a month or so because a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark would appear noting that the device was not compatible with my phone -Apple 4S. The store exchanged my Mophie -(the Juice pack case) for a new case ONLY. It worked for about two months until my original charger cord stopped charging my new Mophie.
YES - I will take it back to the store, a third time, that I purchased and exchanged my old device for a new one.
Question is - do I try round three?
I like it - the weight and the extra charge.
***When I first bought it, I remember the sales girl telling me to keep my receipt. She advised me to take a photo of it. Hmmmmmm?

Good, but with a design flaw

    • Written by from Madison

It does what it says. The case is well designed, seems rugged, and it easily slides into a pants pocket. Of course it adds bulk and weight -- it's a battery. But they did it well.

The rather serious design flaw is the USB plug. If you look carefully at the product picture you'll see that the plug is recessed on the lower-right corner. In that location the curve of the case partially blocks the plug. The result is that it's very hard to fully insert a plug, and it easily and frequently comes unplugged. It's frustrating and sometimes you'll think you're charging, but discover the plug wasn't (or couldn't be) inserted deeply enough.

    Battery ok...case not so much

love the look and feel and so far the extra battery has been good (not using it regularly and take it off to charge phone- so no usb issues (knock wood) yet).
What is a problem is that after 2 weeks the case has already started to chip and bubble up on the back.

I've gotten my first mophie juice pack air for my iPhone 4 and it was working great for at least 4 months or so but when I dropped it a couple of times or accidentally hit something with it, for some reason the usb port on my case came loose and it just made it harder for me to recharge the case even though my usb cord was working just fine. Other words it'll work for awhile and once it gets dropped a couple of times that's when it'll stop working. I did of course got myself a second one when I realized I had a one year warranty with the company but of course I was dead wrong when I thought it'll be just fine and turns out the usb port came loose again. I'm never going to get this product again if they keep giving me a case with a loose usb port even though the usb cord works perfectly fine. I think they need to figure out a way to make the usb port not so loose or at least make one that has a reliable usb port that's not so small or make it similar to the one that's usually on the phone already. The product is okay but this is the second time I'm having the same problems and I really do like it when it charges my phone plus I don't have to keep recharging my phone once my battery is low.

    Nice battery, but causes sratches!

    • Written by from Kirkville

This is a great case if you're going to be without a power source for a long time, but don't get it if you don't like scratches on your phone, or don't have a full body clear film for your case. As you'll most likely be taking this case on and off to use only when needed, you'll be causing little scratches all along the sides of the phone. I learned this the hard way. It also adds a lot of bulk and weight to your phone, so if you're someone who likes the slim, minimalist design of the iPhone, this is not for you! Additionally, even though it is a hard case with a soft interior, you will damage your phone if you happen to drop it (which is extremely easy to do with how slippery this case is) as the top half of the case just slides on, doesn't snap into the bottom half, and remains loose fitting. I even had it coming apart when it was in my pocket!

Seemed to kill my Phone battery life

I have used the Mophie Plus for a few weeks, following the recommendation that I let the phone battery run down before turning on the pack. My iPhone battery now drains much faster when I'm not using the pack. After five standby hours overnight, the battery had gone from 100% to 60%. Before the Mophie, it would have still been over 90% full. Maybe I just got a defective one?

Good case, but bad power connection

    • Written by from Wahiawa

5 of 7 people found this useful

Had my case for about two weeks. The case itself looks sharp, and is smooth and comfortable to hold. However, after only two weeks, when I pulled the port cable out, I heard a snap. The USB adapter inside the case snapped off (inside) and now the case will not charge. This happened with very little force and I have heard several other reviews mentioning this happening. I will be returning this case as having to worry about babying it every time I unplug it isn't worth it.

    Good but needs a fix

    • Written by from Glasgow

9 of 14 people found this useful

The Juice Pack cover is great, in that it looks good, feels pretty sturdy, and ideal for feeding the phone extra power when it needs it.

However, I have recently been experiencing a problem where the power cable gets loose very easily, and constantly disconnects itself. From day one the power plug looked like it didnt quite enter the socket as deeply as it needs to. Over time, it seems to have got looser, and as a result now disconnects a lot.

I think that part needs re-engineered. The power plug needs to sit firmly in the socket, and it doesnt. FIx that, and it'll be an excellent utility.

    Works well, BUT...

I love the feel of the case and don't mind the extra bulk or weight--I've gotten used to it. BUT. The USB charger is a piece of garbage. Don't even think about moving your phone while you're charging up, because if you drop it while the USB charger is plugged into the case, or move it the wrong way, the prong will bend and it may or may not be useable after that. I'm not talking about dropping it on concrete, just carpet or a couch cushion. I have had both situations happen. I returned the first case, as the wiring was completely sheared off inside the prong. The second one is now bent but still charges. I hesitate to buy another USB micro charger from this company.

All this being said, the case does an excellent job of protecting the phone. That's just not why I bought this product, and if I can't re-charge it then $80 for a phone case is just too expensive.

    Battery good, mini USB not

As with most other users I loved Juice Pack Air's extended battery life as I'm always on the go, but one day the mini USB port at the bottom of the battery pack couldn't hold the cable, and having to sort of pushing the cable into that plug with my one hand in order to charge and typing this with my other really annoys me.

    Bad Mini USB Connection

    • Written by from Chesapeake

9 of 10 people found this useful

I purchased approximately 25 units for my iPhone4's in inventory. So far I have had to return approximately 30% due to the mini USB either making a bad connection or breaking away. The good thing is the company stands behind their product and have never hesitated to send a replacement. They need to QC this connection a bit more. Aside from this, I like the extended battery life.

    THIS IS A GOOD PRODUCT

First, of all let me start off by saying this product is worth its weight in gold. It really keeps your phone charge for a long time. The Juice Pack is really sturdy and protects the phone very well, but I'm still giving it three stars. Why? because it's really difficult to install and it's really difficult to remove from its case! otherwise this item is perfect for the IPhone and its battery. I would highly
    recommend this product hands down.

    too thick

6 of 10 people found this useful

Feels great in your hand, little weight, but way too thick to carry in your pocket.
Majority of users will find it most beneficial for travel. Easily doubles thickness, only gives around 70-80 percent extra battery.

I bought this juice pack just 14 days ago. A couple of days ago I noticed my phone was dead even though it was plugged into my iMac usb. I figured ok I must have done something wrong. Now today I plugged it in and noticed that it is not charging at all via the cable plugged into the juice pack. Today my return expires I just called the apple store and even though I can"t get there at the twelfth hour I was told bring it in tomorrow for a replacement. After reading one review here it may seem that the charge pins broke or something like that. I will give a second pack a try because this pack did work well when it worked.
