    HORRIBLE (0 Stars)

    • Written by from Bronx

I bought one and after 6 weeks all the paint started to peel and its all scratched up. They replaced it and now the replacement unit is even worse. The button on the back has fallen off, the paint has peeled off again and the bottom piece has literally fallen apart.

im amazed that they released this product with such shoddy manufacturing practices...

    do not buy this......

recessed buttons are hard to press

    • Written by from Brooklyn

First off, this thing is a lot more bulky and heavy than you might think from the photos. The thin and light iPhone becomes kind of a brick — but that's just going to be true with any external battery case with enough volume to provide a decent charge.

Regarding this case in particular: the buttons on your phone end up very recessed, so you have to really dig to get at them. More fumbling for the volume, for the lock button, for the ringer/silent switch.

They could have just gone the route a lot of thicker cases take and create outer buttons that press through to the buttons on the phone itself — but they didn't.

Otherwise, this case seems (so far) to be very well made and lives up to its power claims.

    Stay away from this product

    • Written by from Las Vegas

Both of my mophie lasted around 6 months. The first one was a design flaw. So I bought a 2nd one with a better design. Good design but it says its not compatible with my iphone. So I have 2 juice pack that are not compatible. Brutal.

    Mophie really loves me

    • Written by from ORANGE

After 3 month of intense use of the case one day i found out that the charging mico usb port is broked. Ok no problem i have asked mophie where i can find a replacement cap, they asked for the receipt and photo of the boken mico usb and 5 days later mophie send me a brand new case. Short story Mophie really loves his customers.

    A must for travelers

    • Written by from Valencia

I've use Mophie products for many years now (first with the 3GS) and I find their products ***indispensable*** (especially when traveling).

To reduce weight, the case is mostly plastic, including the metal looking ring around the outside. The case does scratch easily and will show wear and tear quickly. However you don't buy this case for looks, you buy this case because you need the extra battery. And on that front, the Mophie Juice Pack Air works as advertised.

I bought a white version of this as a gift for someone, and withing 3 months, there are chips from everyday wear. You would need a case for this case.

I ended up buying an incase with battery. Although, it doesn't have as much juice as the mophie, it still looks and feels new (matte black).

I don't think this case is worth $79. In fact, I wouldn't even buy it for half that price. I got my incase with battery for $35.

Great Improvement over last version, but....

    • Written by from Houston

I owned six Mophie Juice packs for my 3Gs and ended up with zero. They would get HOT (was afraid of being burned), wouldn't hold a charge, and were significantly bulkier. On a recent flight, another passenger had the V2 Juicepack Air for the 4s and she evangelized about it's positive improvements.

So I decided to try again.

The heat issue is no longer an issue.
It charged up overnight (don't know how long, but it was empty when I unpackaged it).
It "charges" with my old Mophie cables (I had numerous from the previous attempts) connected to my USB hub.

I can only "sync" it when it's connected directly to my MPB USB port using the old or new cable. My 1000maH powered USB hub doesn't have the "umph" needed to charge it and sync it.

Nothing as of yet, but give me a few days.....

    Worth it!

    • Written by from Cherryville

I am an outside sales person. My work requires a relaible cell phone (we have iPhones). I use my phone all day everyday. I bought this Mophie battery pack cover 6 months ago. It has worked as advertised. When I need a charge it is there and does the job. The cover does a good job of protecting the phone. I have dropped the phone from my lap while exiting my car a couple of times and have been surprised that so far nothing has happened to the phone. I'm not a habitual review writer but thought enough of this product to do so here.

Life span short ... very disappointed

    • Written by from Toronto

I bought it at the Black Friday sale last year and it worked mostly as advertised in the past several months. Starting from about a month ago, the charge/maintain switch began to malfunction, and the last time per charge started to deteriote. Today, it went completely dead and wouldn't charge anymore.

There you go ... a throw away standby battery for 4-5 months worth lifetime.

    Good but needs a fix

    • Written by from Glasgow

The Juice Pack cover is great, in that it looks good, feels pretty sturdy, and ideal for feeding the phone extra power when it needs it.

However, I have recently been experiencing a problem where the power cable gets loose very easily, and constantly disconnects itself. From day one the power plug looked like it didnt quite enter the socket as deeply as it needs to. Over time, it seems to have got looser, and as a result now disconnects a lot.

I think that part needs re-engineered. The power plug needs to sit firmly in the socket, and it doesnt. FIx that, and it'll be an excellent utility.

I just picked one of these up at my local apple retail store. I was skeptical as far as the bulkiness goes, but I don't really mind it. Very thick material, so it will probably handle drops well. I recommend this case to anyone who is always on the go like me. I just wish the case came with a belt holster clip.

    LOVE IT!

    • Written by from Newberg

First off this does exactly what it says it will. Second, it was way smaller than I imagined, it does make the phone longer and thicker but it's not too heavy or bulky. I work two jobs and rarely have a chance to charge my phone so this was a great choice for me and it adds a great amount of time to my battery life so I don’t have to worry about being phoneless.

I was able to get the case off on my first try, the cord works great and never disconnects from my iTunes, and the case comes with a warranty when you register with the manufacturer. The open top design is great for me! Every other case I’ve owned doesn’t allow my AUX cord in my car to connect, so if I wanted to use it, I would have to take the case off completely. Not with this case!

Also, I used to have an issue when I video recorded on my phone; without a case, I would cover up the mic with my thumbs and miss all the audio on my videos. However, since the charging piece for this case covers the mic, but has little windows on the front to let sound in, I no longer have that problem. Even the flash on my phone still works. I've used it in different light settings and it still doesn't interfere/ create hazing.

I love this case. My friends and family think it is super cool and we all think it looks great. I haven’t had any issues with paint chipping, and I figure as long as I take care of it, I won’t. Great buy! I can honestly say this is the first case I haven’t regretted buying.

Problem with Flash - If you use your iPhone 4s for photos a lot, avoid.

    • Written by from Dallas

Because of a more powerful flash on the 4S, the Juice Pack Air case reflects a half moon on the left slide of photos when using the flash. I contacted Mophie (the manufacturer) about this and they basically said, "Sorry, it does this on some 4S's and not on others. You'll need to find a Juice Pack Air Snap that is only available from Apple; it has a thinner case that doesn't do this." Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the Juice Pack Air Snap nor am I thrilled about having to buy something that is caused by bad testing (i.e., the Juice Pack Air works fine on the 4 and they didn't test it adequately on the 4s). Very dissapointed in Mophie as they usually give good customer service. The workaround is to turn off the flash or buy the Juice Pack Air Snap.

    Power Jack Failures

    • Written by from Schnecksville

Have had 3 Mophies for iphone 4s and each used by a different person. Every one has failed due to charger jack issues. In each case, they have lasted maybe 12-18 months, then the charger cable fails to make a solid connection in the female charge port. As a result, it becomes difficult or impossible to charge the battery in the Mophie making it useless over time. Not sure I'd buy one for an iPhone 5 unless design changes.

    somewhat durable

    • Written by from Bridgewater

I tend to be pretty clumsy, so when I was looking for a case I thought mophie would be ok. It held up pretty well, but after the 15th drop (aka 5 months) that's what did it and the port to connect to the computer or any usb port disconnected and will not work anymore. Will I buy it again? Maybe not, but I'll probably look to the external packs instead.

    Awesome Product with One Flaw!

    • Written by from Toronto

The Mophie Juice Pack for the iPhone 4 is simply awesome. I use it constantly as I am always on the move and away from a charging source. I have put so many people onto this product and they have all had the same reaction.

The one flaw that I need to point out that is a little bit of a let down is the micro USB connection on the bottom of the case. It is a very weak connection and the plug often falls out not completing the charge. The Iphone and lighting plugs are solid and take a bit of force to separate from the units. I hope the next models of Mophie products can address this problem and have a solid tight connection on the case.

    Other than that, Awesome Product!!
