    It dies!

    • Written by from Union City

Bought this with my upgrade to the 5s. Thought of having extra power was great since on on the road a lot for work UNTIL it didn't charge my phone anymore. Got it replaced and 2 weeks later. the case doesn't charge again. Could it be my phone? I just dont understand how my brand new 5s, would be broken. Perhaps unless created by Apple, this thing is a piece of junk...expensive junk. Off to the store I go!

    Love / Hate relationship

    • Written by from Clinton Township

I have an Iphone 4S. I have been through 3. I don't mind the extra weight and size - I actually like that better. However, on the first two where you plug the charger in on the side, it became loose and i couldn't plug the cord in. On the third one - the on / off charger switch went nuts. I would turn it on to charge the phone and it would turn itself on and off and go crazy. I'm assuming the switch went bad. I hate being without a charged phone, but not buying another one. I am waiting for the Iphone 6 to come out and will decide if I want to spend all that money again - three add up.

    Not worth it

    • Written by from new york

It worked great for about a year - no issues. But it mysteriously stopped working 1 year (almost to the day!!) after purchase and for the amount of money I paid, it's not worth it. I will not be buying a new one.

    Disappointed

Bought this 1 year ago, always had trouble with power & ringer on/off switches, but after 1 year & 2 weeks cannot use these buttons at all. Very disappointing!!!!! Is there any way to get a replacement other than buying a new one? I will not purchase another one.

    Faulty Power Jack

    • Written by from Frisco

After using this 'juice pack' for only 4 weeks began having problems connecting the power to the battery. Even though the case has never been dropped and well taken care of, the input jack becomes lose and you have to wiggle the cable to get it to connect. Combine that with the constant pop-up window asking me if I trust this computer and you have a flawed very expensive product that has a known quality issue. In addition very difficult to use the phone when the power cord is plugged in because it extends out the side of the case instead of from the bottom. I wish I had read some of the reviews before buying this product. I relied on the fact that there was at least some quality control if it was being marketed through the AT&T store. I couldn't have been more wrong. Save yourself $89 and go with something other than this.

    Flawed

    • Written by from Bremerton

I have owned a few of these and everyone of them has a problem wiht the charding port. The cable fits fine for a while but then becomes loose and does not charge the case or my phone. One time it happened under warranty and the one they sent was worse than the one I returned!! I gave up at that point. Because they are having a sale at Mophie, I am buyinbg the cheapest one and giving it one more try. But be aware of this consistent flaw with the Mophie.

    mophie case

    • Written by from Warwick

Dropped my iphone and the glass smashed to pieces - the charging system is good, battery back up is cool...But the case obviously provide little protection for the phone ... Just cost me $140.00 for a new glass on the iphone 5... stick with an Otter box .. the extra battery is really not worth what it provides, especially iof you somebody who drops your iphone....

    Mophie Review

    • Written by from Anaheim Hills

When I first got my mophie it was great! It appeared indestructible and gave a good charge. During the first week of usage, however the paint would chip and it easily got scratched off. For me being the klutz that I am, dropped my phone within the first month of me getting this product. I then realized that the "metal" band surrounding the outside could very easily crack and break. Since then every corner on the "metal" is brocken and for a couple times the top half has been stuck, therefore I couldn't get my phone out. I knowtised a couple weeks ago that whenever I would plug in the mophie to charge it, my phone would buzz all night long saying its not plugged in, now it's plugged in, no JK I lied, wait it is plugged in. I thought maybe the cord wasn't straight, so when I straightened it the mophie broke on me. Now my mophie is cracked on every side, missing paint, and it can't even charge.

    Do Not Recommend

    • Written by from Tinley Park

This case is a life save for your battery but that is about it...

The quality of the actual case is not awful. The bumpers come off, the charging socket becomes loose, the plastic cracks from minor falls. I have gone through two cases myself and my brother has as well. I'd like to add that neither of us are particularly rough with our phones. Neither of us have ever cracked an iPhone screen or case in the many years we've owned iPhones.

I do not recommend Mophie but I do recommend the battery case concept. I will be trying another brand on my next purchase.

    Would Be Good But . . .

    • Written by from Los Angeles

Once it is charged, it is really a great invention. It is handy and one of those things . . . you can switch on WHEN IT'S CHARGED and basically completely re-up your battery. There have been a few situations where it just happened to save me.

The key thing here is WHEN . . . When it's charged. I have had this thing for probably close to 2 years. And it has been charged maybe 4 times.

This IS a great concept. But I would venture to say that 99.99% of people out there will get it and it will become an over sized heavy case. It uses one of those non standard cables . . . once that cable is gone . . . poof . . . your likely to throw it in a drawer as opposed to heading down to some warehouse electronic store and trying to flag down a stoned kid with a bad attitude to try and help you find it.

If you have roommates or other people who use the phone charger . . . and have iPhones . . . they will pull that cable off the block and its just adios. It's not even like the small part of the USB that goes to a standard hard drive.

They need to just make the thing take the iPhone adapter. Or make it a standard cable. Face it. Once you are on iPhones. You probably have a drawer full of 15 cables.

The cable also falls out when you do try and charge it.

    Didn't last long

    • Written by from Ottawa

I do love the look of this and actually like the weight that it adds. The extra charge it provides came in very handy several times. Unfortunately it didn't stand up to normal use. I dropped it from a couple feet from the ground and the usb port was crushed making it useless. I only had it for 5 months.

    Shoddy case

    • Written by from Toronto

I received the Mophie from a friend as a gift last week. I was concerned that regardless of the protection it afforded my iPhone (more sturdy than my last case) it was bulkier, made it harder to reach the outer buttons, and I wasn't quite convinced it was the battery saviour it said it was. Literally 1 week later (today) whilst trying to plug in my mini usb the port broke and became loose!!! I didn't try to force it in the wrong way, nor did I wriggle, drop or pull anything; it just broke. Now I'm afraid to use this thing as even a plain case, figuring that the initial incentive of battery back-up is useless, but mainly because I figure the dock connector is just as flimsy as the mini usb connector!!! Shoddy, shoddy workmanship, people.

    Micro-USB Charging port issues

    • Written by from Newcastle

So I had an earlier version of the Mophie Juice Pac Air for my iPhone 4 that after a year started getting soft. This was to be expected so, I picket up a replacement battery from a local big box store. My first impression with there charging system is that they have went backwards with the fit on the micro-usb connector. The earlier version I had and an acceptable fit, nothing exceptional, but it worked OK. The latest battery I picked up has some serious cable retention problem.

I initially thought I had a unit with a manufacturing defect so I sent it back to Mophie and they promptly sent me a replacement. The replacement battery exhibits the same issue. The problem, as I see it is the micro-usb connecter is too far recessed into the case to make a good contact with the plug. If you use the Mophie supplied cable you should be OK but any other third party/standard micro-usb cable isn't going to fit very well.

So, be careful with what cable you use and be careful with the connector, tyour cables are going to fall out if you move it any (kind of a problem in a car).

From the first day the charger connection seemed a weak point.
After time the connection would literally fall out by itself.
Now after all the frustration I am left with a spare that has no power whatsoever.

    Two Strikes: Mophie OUT!

    • Written by from Lexington

This product was exactly what I needed but did not survive ordinary use for 6 months. Took it back since charging port would not hold on to USB jack. It was replaced by Sprint (where I bought it) but the same thing happened to the second one, only in shorter time. This is not a product that should be associated with Apple as quality is very poor. I will try some other brand next.

    not durable

    • Written by from Fayetteville

It worked well in the first few months. It definitely adds battery life. The case protects the phone from drops but sacrifices itself in doing so. It literally comes apart at the seams after a small drop. I have extended its life about 6 weeks with superglue but now it has come totally apart. It lasted about 5 months. Wouldn't recommend.

    An OK battery case.

    • Written by from Lawrenceville

    Brief:
It's a fair battery case. I wouldn't recommend it. Protects well with the exception of the front screen which is likely to take on damage if it falls on a surface with gravel for example.

    Explained:
The case itself has a nice feel and adds a little weight to the phone. As far as protection goes, this case has served its purpose while taking mild damage to it. I've dropped it between 4-6 times in the one year since I've owned it. The overall case has held together through various incidences. The battery aspect of the case is good. It will charge from a 5% charge to around 80-85% depending on usage. It's a battery, so over the life of its cycles it will eventually degrade. I would estimate around 8-9 months the battery seemingly stopped holding a lasting charge and wold intermittently stop charging and require a removal of the bottom half and reconnection. Only then it would continue its remaining charge. Overall its an OK case.

Great idea but does not last...FAIL!

    • Written by from Granite Bay

I love the idea of having an extra battery. I liked the look and feel of this product, but unfortunately Mophie needs to redesign it. First of all the camera does not work well at night in this case. The flash puts a glare on the photos and the photos come out blurry. I had to take my iPhone out of the case to use the camera with the flash. I had problems with the charging port. I had trouble keeping the connection and sometimes had to tape it to hold the connection. My Mophie started to give me problems 6 months into use and just two weeks over a year of having it, it stopped working all together. Its to expensive for all the problems!.

    Great idea, terrible execution

    • Written by from North Vancouver

Mophie has to go back to the drawing board with their design. The charger connection is useless after a couple of weeks. I've gone through two of the cases already & won't be buying a third.
