    Major Flaw

This case is very nice looking and I like the leather. Unfortunately after very little use over a couple of months time, the cheap zipper came apart. Beware of the zipper. I won't order another one, I will go to some other type of case.

    A Sensation

    • Written by from Craftsbury Common

I have owned and loved my 11" MacBook Air variant of the BookBook for almost 3 months now and it is FANTASTIC! It looks great, it smells of leather, and feels fantastic in the hand. I constantly get compliments and almost no one recognizes that it is anything other than a book.

It takes in the scratches and dings and soon looks older than it is. Of course, this is easily remedied with a little saddle soap, mink oil, or shoe polish. It helps blend the scuffs to an aged and cherished look. It also adds a little bit of water proofing and additional protection.

My only con on my BookBook is that the elastic retention straps have separated from the cover. It is still beautiful and serves as a functional sleeve for my MacBook Air but... it no longer has that satisfactory sensation of opening a book to reveal my MacBook.

All-in-all, this is a great product that I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who enjoys the look, feel, and smell of leather or that special bibliophile in your life.

    Book book case

    • Written by from Crown Point

My only complaint is that there is only straps to hold the top screen of the laptop, but none for the bottom. The laptop can slide out far too easily and by simply adding a couple elastic straps at the bottom this could have easily been resolved. Other than this the case is excellent. Also note the outer leather scratches very easily but this actually helps with its look.

Like the cover & protects laptop

    • Written by from East Lansing

I really like this - use the laptop more because if I drop it, it has a better chance of survival. Also, that I'm carrying a desirable mac laptop isn't quite as obvious in public places, which is a good thing. Does exactly what I hoped it would do, and still fits into the computer cases that the laptop fitted into.

    Awesome

I bought this case recently and I have to say it is very nice. I was looking out for some of the problems that were mentioned in the reviews which I read in the reviews here, but I have not encountered any problems with it. The zip is not plastic as some reviewers indicated. It does not scratch the corners.
I give this thing a 5/5. Is it worth the price? Well, if you real want a good case for your MacBook Air, then it is worth.

Great case! A couple more straps would have made it perfect.

    Straps break

    • Written by from Centerville

Nice idea overall. However, hold down straps only exist for the screen and since the bottom is not held down, the computer tends to slide around. Aside from that, one of the top straps broke within a week of use.

If there were reinforced straps on the top and the bottom, this case would be fantastic.

    Disappointing

I bought this with my original MacBook Air purchase. It looked great but the zipper failed within a few months of moderate use. Such an expensive quality purchase should come with practical robustness. Disappointing !

    Fantastic Idea!

    • Written by from BLOOMFIELD

OK, I love the look of this leather case. It looks just like a book and it fits perfectly. You have to baby the zipper and make sure the edges do not get hit or they will curl up. With all precautions taken this is a great case that can easily fit into any boardroom or college campus. I use mine for travel to protect my products from prying eyes. I am going to order the 15" for my macbook pro- that is how much I love this case. I have one for my air, ipad and soon the pro. My three bookbook's are going to look great on the book case. Just a wonderful idea...I wish I thought of it.

Unique and very well made, but mine had a zipper problem

    • Written by from SLINGERLANDS

This is a very unique case. It will not be for everyone, but I love mine. It is very well made, with quality leather and velvety material for the lining. There have been a number of comments re: the zippers....mine was difficult to operate, and just broke. I contacted the manufacturer, and they have been very responsive.

    One of a kind!

    • Written by from Richmond Hill

If you like to make a statement and enjoy standing out in a subtle, sophisticated way- definitely click "Buy". I saw this once on google images while I was planning a DIY project for my summer job and knew immediately this was the cover I was going to have come rain or sunshine. Very pleased.

I use it as a case, and insert it into an old pocket sleeve I had laying around. Along with my readings, pencils and iPod, most people think its actually a book from the spine :) totally compliments my eclectic "rebel-nerd" style.

Interestingly enough, most people have no idea it's available at the Apple Store!

Word of caution though: if you find the diagonal grips annoying, you might want to just use it as a sleeve. I used to think I'd find them irritating, but in between the random compliments and gaping curious looks I'm constantly receiving...it doesn't matter so much. I love this product!

    Awesome (ish)

    • Written by from Brasília

I bought this case when I traveled to NY, and as soon as I had it on my MacBook, I was like, "Wow!". Because it really looks great!

It has 2 zippers, so you can open it from both ports, and now, I have people ask me where I got this awesome case everyday!

Problems started when one of the zippers got stuck, and took a long time to fix.

The only thing I don't like is the zipper gets stuck every week. But if you're thinking about buying this case, just do it! You won't regret it!

    Soooo Cute!!!!

    • Written by from Vacaville

I placed this on the table at work and not one person thought there was a computer in it! Several reference books actually look like this so people just walked on by. I have the little iphone case that matches this and people thought that was a little bible. I just love how cute it is.

Pro: I can use mac book air in this case. It has 2 straps on one side that can be used to hold it in place, which it does nicely. They could have used 4 straps, but I am not feeling like I actually am missing anything, so it isn't a con. Small, compact and fits exactly without looking like it is bulging. The zipper of the case for the laptop has two tabs so you can close in any direction which is a major plus.

Con: due to the design and appearance, you can't fit your cord inside :( but I am not going to knock a star off just for this as I knee what I was getting myself into. If I want the cute book look, then I gladly accept not having the cord fit inside. Maybe apple should create a cord that charges the macbook air and isn't so bulky. But eh, it looks CUTE!!!

One more thing, I love this! I feel like my laptop is protected and CUTE!!! did I say that enough yet?

    Meh.

    • Written by from Toronto

This case looks cool but I have to say I'm not loving it. I've had it for several months and I have found that my computer slides out of the elastic bands quite frequently, especially when I've got my laptop on, well, my lap. I also find that the computer gets overheated because the case completely encloses my Macbook Air and doesn't allow for enough ventilation. I'm looking looking for another option - this case has left me underwhelmed.

    Love my Twelve South products

    • Written by from Kansas City

Had the iPhone case first, so I already knew I loved Twelve South. My Air just had a sleeve so I wanted something a bit more substantial for travel with it.

What I love: Still light, so I feel like I still have a MacBook Air. Great protection. The top elastic to hold the Air in.

What I don't like: It tends to slip a bit since the elastic is only at top. I am a User Interface/User Experience Designer/Developer, and for the life of me, I have no idea why some testing didn't prove the elastic was also needed on the bottom. It would solve everything and the product would be 5 star worthy.

    Luv It!!

    • Written by from BRONX

I purchased this for my 11" MacBook Air. From the moment I took it out of the wrapper, I was instantly pleased. Well made product, and looks like a genuine antique book!! I never take out the MacBook Air from this cover while using it for countless of hours...and computer has not overheated. I get compliments where ever I take my mac too!! Am so pleased with this product, that I'm buying one for my iPhone. Don't sit on the fence with this product! I guarantee you'll fall in love with it! The only drawback is that they don't make one for the macbook pro!! :((

    Like it so far ...

    • Written by from Singapore

I just got the BookBook case (11") and I love it already. I put it on my lap and the rubber stripes does hold onto my Mac. This is better than the see thru Speeck case that I have which cracks after a month of usage. I still have my see thru cracked case and I put both into this case. It looks wonderful and it fits what I was looking for - durable, elegant, slim and light. Marks go to the 'inventor' of this case - Well Done!.

BTW, I also purchased the Kate Spade green case but it is nothing like this BookBook. I want to sell my Kate Spade case now... I wish I knew BookBook existed before.

Awesome quality, but find the straps annoying

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I really like the look and quality of this case. I was using a speck case for my air (which I found does fit with the bookbook) but decided to ditch it for now.

The only thing that has annoyed me is that it doesn't fit snug under the straps that hold the screen against the case. My macbook tends to slide forward when I'm using it on my lap and eventually out of the elastic straps. I think they could have fixed this by giving to option of using straps on the bottom. However, if you prefer, you can opt out of using the straps all together.

Overall, I think its a unique case with great construction. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something different.
