    Absolutely LOVE it!

The title says it all. I love my Apogee JAM. I am also a huge proponent of Agile Partner/Peavey's AmpKit, which this works perfectly with. However, if you plug it in while using AmpKit, you'll have to close and open the app. No big deal, though. Also, compared to the Amplitube iRig I used to have, the sound quality difference is phenomenally better. As far as build quality, I would have preferred a light metal to the plastic, but I enjoy it not weighing much. Overall excellent product for amp simulationon the iPhone/iPad!

Thanks to the combination of the Apogee Jam and GarageBand for iPad.
I've been writing a lot more music. It's incredible how good the guitar signal and the amps sound with this set up. Thank you Apogee and Apple.

I first bought the Peavey Ampkit Link and I was not impressed because it is very noisy. I have just received the Jam and it is way superior. I use it with the Amkit App for iPad (which I recommend). With the Jam, the sound is so clean; no need for a Noise Gate. It does not require batteries. The light that tells you whether your input is too high makes setting it up very easy. It feels more sturdy too. It is more expensive but you get what you pay for. No doubt why Apple sells it and recommends it.

I have a Apogee Duet on my IMac and I just love it so when it came time to get something for my iPad and iPhone the JAM was preferred product. I am stunned by the sound quality! The one thing that really impressed me about the idea of recording to my IDevice was that there is no buzz, no 60 cycle hum! I have a stock 1972 Telecast Thinline with 40 year old wiring and it has never sounded so clean. Apogee has impressed me once again with we'll built great sounding product!

Originally I purchased an iRig with my new guitar and my New iPad. Problems matched those discussed in the Apple Support Community. I was able return the iRig and got the Jam. Excellent choice. Worth the difference in price.

Works perfectly as advertised. There was no feedback or noise like other products that use the analog input. There was absolutely no latency.

If you bought this to play with Garage Band warning !! Connectivity issues galore! The app won't recognize the Jam input devise and the latest ios updates and firm ware haven't solved the issue! Wasted 100 dollars! Sooo frustrating!

I was using the iRig input for both ipad and iphone, but it seemed like there was always too much noise regardless of the guitar pickups, so i decided to get this device assuming a dock connector/ usb connection would be less noisy, and it works perfectly! I'm getting no noise and great sound quality for the device!

Works great with Mac and ipad!

Got Apogee JAM for Christmas and I LOVE it!! Had trouble connecting at first but I called Apogee and they walked me through updating the firmware. It was a pretty painless process!! Working great now and the sound quality is unreal! I can't believe I'm getting these tones on my iPhone!!!! Hahaha..... don't know how I'm gonna get any work done now! Tried connecting one of my keyboards last night and it worked too!! Now I'm on a mission to try connecting all of my different gear! Best Christmas present I've gotten in years!

I had my eye on this for a while, but was always turned off by the price. I tried homemade connectors, and the iRig, and even plugging the audio out from my amp into my Mac, but everything i tried gave so much noise, it was unbearable to play. So i finally caved and bought this, and wow! the quality is amazing! there is absolutely no noise, no interference, and the tone is so crisp and beautiful, i can't tell the difference between this with a Mac and decent speakers and my 15W Vox Valvetronix Amp. I used it on the iPad too, and this plus gargeband for the iPad is just a joy to play, i can take my guitar anywhere without having to lug an amp around, and those 2W mini-amps are lousy quality, and noise-ridden and the iPad is almost as loud. It works great with Logic Pro on the Mac, my main software and of course garageband

    Would highly recommend 10/10

GarageBand + Apogee Jam stopped working on IPAD 2

I upgraded my Ipad2 to IOS 5.1 and also Garageband to the latest version. From then my Apogee Jam is stuck on blue light. It also doesn't work with other apps (Ampkit ....). I am sure it's a software issue, because its working well with my IPHONE 4!

I've never heard my Telecaster sound so good; really lovely quality tone. But beware; like a couple of other people here, I have serious connectivity problems. It can be solved by plugging/uplugging the USB end of the 30pin cord from the Apogee, and eventually it's recognised. I can always get it to work if I keep at it, but frankly, for £80, this should just work. This is on an iPad 2 running the latest IOS with an up to date Garageband. I get the same problem with Ampkit, so it isn't just Garageband.
Apogee are sending me another 30 pin lead, so we'll see...

    Does Not Work

    • Written by from Utica

60 of 70 people found this useful

The Apogee JAM does not work with GarageBand 1.1 (iOS) on an iPad 2 or iPod Touch 4th Gen.

I does work with my Macs at home and in the office.

Apogee says it's an Apple problem and Apple says it's an Apogee problem. Folks like me who purchase the JAM for use on Mac and iOS devices are out of luck until one company or the other steps up to the plate, assumes responsibility and produces a fix.

On my Macs it sounds great, but it simply does not work on iOS devices.

Apogee jam with ipad 2 os5.0.1 does not work, even after the jam's firmware was upgraded as suggested by apogee site. Nothing to do. All tentatives to perform a different start or restart sequence and any other workaround failed. I am disappointed

great fidelity for recording heart sounds too!

For medical education, I've been missing a way to digitally record heart sounds from my thinklabs stethoscope. as the iPhone audio input cuts off low frequencies, which are part of those sounds. The JAM has an excellent low frequency response, and combined easily with the peavey ampkit for recording.

I say it is a little exspensive but it is completely worth it. I took it out of the box plugged it into my guitar then into my iPad and it was crazy good. If u are using garage band like me, if you explore the app itself, you can make it sound perfect. With sooooo many options.

Great product! I am lead guitar player in our Church Praise Band and use it versus mic'ing an amp or lugging and setting up pedals. Sound is spot on with no noise and tone is great.
