    perfect for ipad, not so much for osx

    on my ipad it works like a charm, get shredder and garageband, they both rock and transform your ipad in any set of amp+stompboxes

    on osx it seems delayed and I actually got in a situation where whatever I hit on my guitar, it was about 3 seconds off, don't know yet if that's a problem with the jam or just with any digital input being processed by garageband on osx. But if you're going to use an ipad and plug that into your amp, this is the best stompbox/amp replacement you can get, $110 or so for every shredding combination out there sure beats buying stomboxes ;-)

    Apogee jam with ipad 2 os5.0.1 does not work, even after the jam's firmware was upgraded as suggested by apogee site. Nothing to do. All tentatives to perform a different start or restart sequence and any other workaround failed. I am disappointed

    I chose this device over others because it was supposed to work with Garage Band. I have the iPad with IOS 4.3.4 and it does not work.

    Hopefully, I can successfully upgrade to IOS 5. No better experience then trying to get PC accessories to work sometimes. I thought Apples' strength was that their products just worked together.

    If you bought this to play with Garage Band warning !! Connectivity issues galore! The app won't recognize the Jam input devise and the latest ios updates and firm ware haven't solved the issue! Wasted 100 dollars! Sooo frustrating!

    Works perfectly as advertised. There was no feedback or noise like other products that use the analog input. There was absolutely no latency.

    I just received my JAM today, plugged it into my MAC and played. Simple to use and it sounds great. Functions like a direct box for your computer. Outstanding product.

    Thrilled with this device and it delivers tremendous performance. Apogee is my go to brand and they do not disappoint with the JAM. Works great on the original iPad and even on my iPhone 4S. Never imagined recording my musical ideas on such devices, but thanks to Apple and Apogee, this is now a reality. I am also really impressed with the sound quality on the Mac. True to the tone of my guitars. Wish I had all of this when I started playing 25 years ago!

    This has to be by far THE BEST sounding converter for iOS devices! I am extremely happy with my purchase. This device is easy to use, I simply plug it in, open up GarageBand on my iPhone or iPad and BAM a full mobile recording studio right in my hand!
    I've even tried using a simple dynamic mic, and it sounds great! Perfect way to jot down all these ideas in my head before hitting up the recording studio. The sound this device offers simply beats all other similar products out there. I use Apogee in my home studio, and love the sound of their equipment! I'm glad they made it to the mobile world.

    You have GOT to get JAM. No problems no issues. I registered my Jam when I bought it and Apogee sent me an email about a product update for jam. It added 48k sampling capability and addressed a connection issue with iOS 5 and iPad. Sorry LP from Utica, I don't know how you contacted Apogee or if you did but their customer support is the best. Just contact them and they'll get you straightened out.

    I wanted to purchase Jam last week to use with my iPad2/iPhone 4, but I had been a bit concerned based on LP's comment. I did some searching and found an Apple support article acknowledging an issue with iPad 2/iOS 5, and providing a workaround... This week I saw Apogee released a new firmware to fix the issue, so I picked up Jam, loaded the firmware, and it's been working great - no issues! Very easy to use. Might even pick up another one for my brother as a christmas gift!

    I just plugged the JAM in and couldn't believe how easy it was! Wow! It works perfectly with my iPad, iPhone and my Macbook Pro as well. I was getting sick of trying to play on little keys or strings! Keep up the great work!

    The Apogee JAM does not work with GarageBand 1.1 (iOS) on an iPad 2 or iPod Touch 4th Gen.

    I does work with my Macs at home and in the office.

    Apogee says it's an Apple problem and Apple says it's an Apogee problem. Folks like me who purchase the JAM for use on Mac and iOS devices are out of luck until one company or the other steps up to the plate, assumes responsibility and produces a fix.

    On my Macs it sounds great, but it simply does not work on iOS devices.

    Apogee Jam

    Great product! I am lead guitar player in our Church Praise Band and use it versus mic'ing an amp or lugging and setting up pedals. Sound is spot on with no noise and tone is great.

    great fidelity for recording heart sounds too!

    For medical education, I've been missing a way to digitally record heart sounds from my thinklabs stethoscope. as the iPhone audio input cuts off low frequencies, which are part of those sounds. The JAM has an excellent low frequency response, and combined easily with the peavey ampkit for recording.

    Thanks to the combination of the Apogee Jam and GarageBand for iPad.
    I've been writing a lot more music. It's incredible how good the guitar signal and the amps sound with this set up. Thank you Apogee and Apple.

    This useful item is great for recording on the Mac or using your iPad. Anyone who needs a quick way to get into recording or just doesn't need the complications that come with a big setup this is for you!

    The title says it all. I love my Apogee JAM. I am also a huge proponent of Agile Partner/Peavey's AmpKit, which this works perfectly with. However, if you plug it in while using AmpKit, you'll have to close and open the app. No big deal, though. Also, compared to the Amplitube iRig I used to have, the sound quality difference is phenomenally better. As far as build quality, I would have preferred a light metal to the plastic, but I enjoy it not weighing much. Overall excellent product for amp simulationon the iPhone/iPad!
