    Poor battery life

    • Written by from Breda

In the beginning this product seemed to work "okay"; I had to charge it like once a week orso, with an activity of max 4 hours a day. But nowadays I have to charge the battery every day and sometimes twice a day. It just drains a whole lot and it seems to be getting worse. Too bad because I thought it was a nice product. At least better than changing batteries all the time

Very happy with this product. Have been using for the past year without issue. I have paired it with the a Logitech Solar keyboard and I never have to worry about batteries anymore. Lovely.

I'll take the Apple rechargeable battery pack.

    • Written by from Baltimore

I've been a long-time fan of the Apple rechargeable battery pack having at least three of these. But I got suckered into a slick new technology that seemed simple and foolproof enough...I was only partially right. The device is nicely constructed to match the Magic Mouse. It comes with the charging pad and a battery pack/cover that replaces the corresponding Apple parts. But from there on , it's been downhill for me.

My two biggest complaints are centered around the very reason one would purchase the Magic Charger. The batteries do not hold a charge despite being on the charging pad overnight. It will drain up to 50% of it's charge in less than a day. Seems excessive... Second, it loses the connection to the Mac on a regular basis as I'm working. This is REALLY annoying! Right now I've replaced the Mobee batteries with some off-the-shelf EverReady Lithium batteries. So far no disconnection, so I've pretty much ruled out everything but the Mobee batteries. Don't expect me to figure out why, I'm just interested in the results.

    Great Until...

This product was great until it stopped working 3 months after I had received it as a birthday gift my son had spent his hard earned cash on.

    Finally available through Apple!

    • Written by from Duarte

I've had this for a few years. It does exactly as it says it does. I see a lot of bad reviews from misguided people on here though. People seem to think buying (and throwing away) $20 of batteries every couple months is somehow better than recharging your mouse every two days. You literally set the mouse on top of the charger overnight (or whenever) and that's it! People find that troubling?? Well, what I find troubling, is wasting batteries when you don't have too! Anyway, yes, it would be great if it stayed charged for a year, but this is literally the most convenient charging system I've ever encountered. I really like this machine, and will continue to use as long as they make them.

    Love it

    • Written by from Magnetawan

I bought 2, and I always forget to charge it, but it still always works. so the charge lasts long. I had a problem with one . pretty sure I got food crumbs in it , and emailed Mobee, the only way to contact them, and they sent me a new one without even looking at the receipt. Just wanted me to send a photo of it.

    Very unreliable connection.

    • Written by from PLEASANTON

I researched why my new magic mouse frequently lost connection. I have a recent laptop and a new mouse. The issue seems to be like the blogs said: the batteries in this charger are the issue. After I purchased the rechargeable Apple batteries and used those in the mouse, it has not had any connection problems. The computer is able to wake with the use of the mouse too. The charger has its own enclosed batteries, so the Apple batteries are not able to be used with the charger. I would guess they aren't compatible.

The Apple rechargeable batteries are almost as convenient and cheeper.

Spend your money on rechargeable batteries instead

    • Written by from Honolulu

Literally just threw this thing in the trash. I've had it about nine months and every time I use it, the mouse constantly disconnects and reconnects until I take the power pack out and replace it with batteries. This replaced a set of rechargeable batteries that worked just fine for three years. I'm getting new rechargeable batteries which saves money and pollutes less and significantly lowers my frustration level by removing this annoyance from my life.

    Great idea and Great product

I have had this for a little over a month and love it. So easy to set up and use.

The keyboard magic charger is awful, but the mouse works great!

I honestly do not know what is going on with these negative reviews. I've had mine for three months (I bought both the mouse and the charger at the same time) and have had no problems with it. Knock on wood.

    Flawed product

    • Written by from Swindon

Echoing so many of the other reviews here - I bought one of these (Apple store, Portland OR), and it worked great for about 10 days. Now, however, it won't charge (or at least, report a charge) beyond 3 or 4%, and I get constant "mouse battery low" notifications and random disconnections.
As a concept, great. As an implementation - second rate. I expected better; don't Apple do basic quality screening on products they stock in their stores?

    Need improvement

    • Written by from Epping

Other inductive charging solutions (for phones) magnetically locate the inductive coil in the phone, to the one in the charger pad. The magic charger really needs something like thing, as if the mouse if not aligned properly, it'll take significantly longer to charge.

The reduced capacity of the batteries is an issue. Really you need to stick the mouse on the pad every night, and if you forget a couple of nights in the row, you're back to the AA's.

Gotta Keep It On The Pad

    • Written by from Los Angeles

Problem is, it discharges even while you're not using it. So you have to train yourself to put it on the pad when you're not using it. The charging pad, that is.

Product suggestion: Make the charging pad larger and surfaced like a mouse pad. Then the mouse can stay on the pad even while in use.

As long as we're wishing...: Embed an even larger charger into my wooden desk.

    This is so cool.

    Mixed results

    • Written by from Louisville

I will not re-hash all the problems that others have with the never ending charge light blinking. My experience has for most part been positive until recently. The connector (uUSB) has started to fail and now requires a bit of manipulation to get power into the device. I'm just outside of the 1 year warranty so the manufacturer will not even discuss it.

I enjoyed the convenience of not having to change batteries often but the product should last longer than 1 year, and if the company will not stand behind it then they don't have faith in what they are producing either.

Absolutely does not work. Stay away this unit

    • Written by from Sausalito

I gave it one star just because somehow you can't put 0.

    The saying goes like this:
"there are liars, darn liars, god darn liars, and then there are battery engineers"
The first battery pack lasted about 2 weeks. Mobee was kind enough to send a new battery pack. Once the pack was charged, the mouse only moved vertically. it won't move horizontally because I'm guessing this made in china product has not figured out that the pack does not sit right on the mouse thus movement is limited. Even when it moves, the mouse disconnect and reconnect at will. No its not my mouse issue. Once I put regular batteries it works like a charm.

An absolute waste of money; Get a wired mouse or, if you still trust battery engineers, get a charger.

    Great....at first.....then....not so much

    • Written by from Brentwood

I usually wait on reviews as a product may work great for the first little while - but what I am most interested in - is the long term viability for a product....and this one fails miserably..

ok...so nothing lasts forever....everyone gets that....but i would expect this product to last at LEAST 2 years.....I've had mine for just a smidge over a year and now.....DEAD. Won't hold a decent charge - constantly losing connection and flashing the battery symbol in the bluetooth icon.

i have a 5 year old blackberry that holds a better charge than this.

Great device, but a pricey one for what it is

    • Written by from West New York

I was in my local Apple Store last week, and saw this on the shelf so I decided to get it. Setting it up was easy enough, and it was charged up in about four hours. As previously mentioned, the one major glitch is that you never get a 100 percent reading, even when it's fully charged up; the best I've seen is 90 percent. I must have a later model, as mine came with a micro USB cable, instead of the mini USB one others had mentioned. I haven't had it long, but I think I'm going to keep it.

I would recommend this to a friend with the caveat that it really does cost much more than it's worth, IMHO.

    Pretty Useful Gadget

    • Written by from Yorktown

I bought a Magic Mouse years ago when they first came out, but ended up rarely using it because I hate buying batteries. I recently purchased the Mobee charger and now I use my Magic Mouse daily! So far I've only charged the mouse ONCE and a month later it's still at almost 100% charge! Also, my son was playing with my Magic Mouse one day a couple years ago and bent the back panel so it didn't fit on properly. The "battery pack" for the Mobee replaced that ugly bent back panel :) The Mobee charger does exactly what it says it does- charges my mouse, keeps the charge, and the charging pad is very sleek and attractive and looks great and inconspicuous on my desk!
