    Very good sound; some limitations

    This is an excellent product. With proper setup and placement, it will impress. But...

    - don't put it close against a wall, because the rear-ported speakers will show some severe bass distortion
    - don't assume that your old Mac is fully compatible. No streaming from iTunes on your 2010 Mac running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, for example.
    - Airplay setup is not quite as seamless as this Apple user has come to expect. no word on compatibility with future wireless standard compatibility, either
    - Since Apple has switched away from the old 30-pin dock connector, your new Lightning-connector iPhone or iPod won't dock. Since one is forced to use a cable adapter with their new Apple gadget, it would be nice if the adapter matched in color, or better yet, if it was easy to remove the dock arm and plug in the back without an electrical degree or without resorting to the analogue inputs.
    - we are afraid to use an iPad on this dock. let's face it, even though this dock arm is stout, the Apple connector simply doesn't offer the mechanical robustness i want to see. You will end up using the iPad wirelessly, which then leaves you to look at an empty dock sticking out of what is otherwise a very sleek design.
    - This is a premium speaker, designed by some of the world's best acoustic engineers. What a letdown to see that this expensive little unit is made in China. B&W, please either pass on the savings to your customer or update the Zeppelin to eliminate the many little issues that keep it from being a great value (yes, we understand that many issues are Apple's fault - i.e., changing dock connector, inconsistent dock connector placement, etc).

    Great speaker, shame it doesn't work seamlessly with AirPlay

    There is no question the Zepplin is a great speaker, when it works. The problem is that inspire of the all the blurb from B&W and from Apple, this device does not always work with AirPlay. Anyone thinking of buying this product for wireless streaming just google "problems with zepplin and AirPlay" and see the results. It is a surprise to me that either of these two organisations havnt sorted this out by now.

    Best speaker ever

    We have the big Harman Kardon in the lounge, Yamaha upstairs and the Bose sound dock in the kitchen. The Zeppelin is noticeable the best sound and connection. Everybody in the family says so. The WIFI air play is a touch cumbersome to instal. But doable. The process has a strong PC touch to it. Once it works it is stronger and better than the Airport Express that I connected to both the Harman and the Yamaha. I use the Airport extreme 2.4 and 5 GHz as the main network maker and the two Expresses as "slaves". The new lightning connector does not bother me. There are ample convertors to charge the phone should need be.

    iPad helps

    Connection via PC doesn't work. Setting it up via the Safari Browser on my iPad worked well. Nevertheless for no obvious reason the Zeppelin loses the connection to the network. Than I have to reset it and reconfigure it.

    I bought the Zeppelin Air about 9 months ago to replace an Altec Lansing dock that didn't sound very good and met its maker. I like all kinds of music from Jazz to classical to pop, rock and world music and would consider myself a bit of an audiophile. I wanted something is small though and didn't have any wires and that sounded good. The Zeppelin Air with AirPlay sealed the deal and I have to say I'm mostly really happy with it. I stream music from my computer, the phone or play via the dock. For the most part AirPlay works very well, but sometimes the speaker doesn't show up on my phone or in the remote app. Then I unplug the zeppelin, plug back in and wait a minute and it comes up. I don't know what causes this and sometimes it's a bit annoying, but that's really my only complaint. I also love the fact that it's mobile and I can take it outside in the summer.

    No way to get WiFI connection and firmware upgrades

    Bowers & Wilkins knows how to handle sound, but not computers!
    This thing is not connecting to Wifi and is not even loading firmware updates (looks like the Zeppelin Driver DFU is not present (on Windows 7).
    Blimey! And B&W says that if something is wrong must be my password.
    I will return the unit if B&W don't give me soon a fix

    Best docking station to date

    Just received my B&W Zeppelin Air and all I can is this thing sounds great for its size! Setup was easy. Was up and running in minutes even with a firmware update. Streaming tunes wirelessly from both Mac and PC without any issues or dropouts at all. I am very particular when it comes to audio and the Zeppelin delivers with sparkling highs, clear midrange and tight low end. Certainly fills up my medium sized room with plenty of music even at moderate volume levels. The Zeppelin Air is a pleasure to listen to and certainly delivers. I have a full blown Linn home theater system so I know HiFi sound when I hear it. It looks great and charges my iPod and iPhone to boot! Highly recommended as a idevice dock or as a secondary audio system.

    People here mentioned dropping signal. It did to me when I was living in a different home. Now I have no problems at all. You guys need better connection

    Great sound, but awful reliability.

    I think the zeppelin has great sound quality with a warm mid range, great tweeters, and a hefty bass. The only downside is the Air Play. No matter what I do I can't seem to get Air Play to work properly. Every time I go through the steps to set it up, the purple light keeps blinking and won't turn solid. I have even gone back to the store to swap it out for a new one, it doest work either. Maybe my Wifi isn't strong enough. I don't know, I have heard mixed reviews on the set up part about the speakers. My advice is to make sure the Air Play works before you decide to keep it.

    Great sound, set up will kill you

    The zeppelin sounds great but it's a nightmare to set up to a wifi network. When it works it's as advertised. unfortunately, when it drops from your network you'll spend a sadistic technological eternity updating firmware, downloading installers, unplugging, plugging, restarting, looking, reading, watching, resetting, resetting, failing. It does make an awesome paperweight though. Could withstand a hurricane. Buy this speaker at your peril.

    Finally own an amazing airplay speaker

    I have been running this speaker for a few days now and I'm super happy with it. The sound quality is surpurb.
    Some say the setup is a little difficult but if you download the setup app from the app store it really is a breeze to set up.

    I thought that this make would have been of better quality, well, you live and learn!
    Looks and sound are great (when it is working). A little on the pricey side when you have to dish out on a not so cheap technical service fee every two years once the guarantee has run out. The ipod dock doesn´t seem as stable as I had hoped, especially when I hardly touch it.
    When I first bought the product there weren´t as many other options out there for quality sound systems... now there are. So I´ll be looking into other products that will cost the same as the reparation fees I´ve been having to pay.

    Better than Bose...easy to use...very good sound and acoustic
    Connection ..easy.
    Airplay...just get the newest version. It really works.
    About the bass....easy to fix....from your device...the zeppelin plays what it is receiving, means...fix your tune not the player.
    Cons...expensive.. but I think is worth it
    I did browse this purchase more than 3 months...bose..samsung, sony, jbl..etc!
    I hope I have a system for long time.

    Nice Sound, Not reliable

    The unit sounds nice, and is attractive to look at. It is not reliable though. My unit was broken after about 100 hours of use. Just a blinking red light is all it can do. I would avoid this unit and can not recommend it. Spending this amount of money for a good name should mean that you don't get a disposable piece of tech, yet that's what I have.

    Great Sound -- Horrible Connectivity

    Had this device for almost 2 years and my experience with it - Connectivity spotty. SOngs cut in and out -- Been thru 2 different wi-fi systems and 2 homes so definitely the Zeppelin and not wi-fi.

    Out of the box Product, Long Term Satisfaction, Support if it isn't right.

    This product has great sound quality..no doubt...
    The volume goes up crazy loud on its own...
    In times of high humidity it shocks us...no it is not static...it is a consistent electrical shock
    I have sent back twice to be repaired (almost the cost of a new unit)..
    We are not happy with this unit...if that is not already apparent..

    Absolutely Incredible Speakers!

    With the B&W Zeppelin Air Speakers I don't even know where to begin!
    I am a complete audiophile and was ecstatic to receive my package from Apple today that contained my brand new B&W Zeppelin Air Speakers! I opened the box and unwrapped one of the most aesthetically awesome speakers I have ever seen. I quickly and simply set up AirPlay on it and it took all of 5 minutes before I was listening to a rich and beautiful sound coming from this masterpiece. I tried many genres of music with this today and I was thoroughly impressed with the sound quality! The speakers sound amazing and I strongly recommend buying these... worth every penny! I am very impressed with the B&W Zeppelin Air and Bowers & Wilkins did an incredible job! Thanks for the awesome speakers!

    Oh my God. What a nightmare!

    Absolutely concur with other reviews - the sound is good but so, so unreliable on Airplay. If I could afford to I would have thrown this out of the window by now; the frustration of setting it up and then resetting it up is unbelievable. I work in IT support. I am more than capable of setting up my wifi and Airplay properly. Honestly I can only put the unreliability down to the unit itself. Do NOT buy this. I really regret spending so much money on a paperweight.

    A nightmare to set up

    Probably impossible since I have tried everything (with no help from AplleCare - a helpful support from the retailer though - but the bottom line is: It will not connect even after I have tried everything, listening to all advice, restarting it, restarting Time Capsule, upgrading the firmware etc etc. It is simply impossible. I have never seen a product at that price with such bad performance ( except for the sound I could hear in the shop) But I now know that it will not perform in a home. So it is going back to where it came from
