    Zeppelin Air

    • Written by from Delaware

I have had my Zeppelin for 6 months. I truly believe that there are now many great sound systems in the Zeppelin category. However, this system is just a step ahead. No one can argue with the sound of any B&W speaker. True audiophile sound and absolutely beautiful design. Check it out, well worth it!

    Amazing Sound and Looks Fantastic

    • Written by from Richmond Hill

Just picked this up today. The product itself has some good weight and looks gorgeous alone on a shelf. AirPlay setup can be very easy, B&W have created an app which can be found in the app store and all the setup can be done from your iDevice took no more than 10 minutes.
When your device is sitting on the dock the sound is crystal clear with awesome bass.
AirPlay takes 2-3 seconds to start and its quality is on par with when its connected.
I have experienced one outage where the music cut out, but it came back in 2 seconds.
Really can't emphasize how amazing it sounds.

These speakers are simply brilliant! After rediscovering music with the P5s, I decided to splurge and buy the Zeppelin Air and I couldn't say enough good things about them. The sound is so detailed that I often find myself standing right by them listening to music.

They can definitely fill up a large living room without distorsion to the music itself.

Don't look at the price, please yourself, these are AMAZING!

    Cant get better than this

    • Written by from CLECKHEATON

the zeppelin air sounds as good as it looks. no really, it does. sounds amazing, bass, powerful. crystal clear iPod dock. even at times i have to adjust the bass setting and change equaliser cause too much bass. just shows u its got enough bass. room filling and loud. i thought my hifi was good until i bought a monster beats by dr. beat box. i thought that was great until i bought this beauty.really comes out. even when i am out of my bedroom and on the other side of the wall it sounds great. no wonder its got an award. as for air play. it took ages to set up and even when done it won't play through it and air play icon docent show on my iPhone. and when it works, it keeps cutting off. why can't it be so easy to set up like in airport utility. i wouldn't use it anyway. i just use iPod and aux. a really brilliant piece of tech. may be expensive but its all worth it

Great product. Best toy ever for an iProduct or a MAC. Sounds great. I haven't had any trouble with connection and design is very nice (best design, I think). I am actually waiting for the zeppelin mini to get airplay to put it in another, smaller, room and make it a complete sound system.

I just purchased this product at the Apple store in Houston. Been playing music through it for about 8 hours now. Set up the air play feature as instructed and there was no issue. The only thing I've found so far is if you try to adjust the volume through the volume slider on iTunes, it automatically goes to the loudest setting on the zeppelin, even if you don't turn it up that far on the computer. Scares me because I don't want to bust the speakers. Also, I find the quality of the sound (as far as equalizer settings) sounds better through the docked iPhone. I was constantly having to play with the equalized through iTunes to get a sound i liked.

As someone mentioned on another review, this product sounds amazing with acoustic guitars. Bluegrass music sounds AMAZING! Piano solo music from Pandora sounds amazing as well. I don't care for the quality of the bass on pop music. Perhaps it's just the placement of the unit in my room that's the issue because many people say they think it sounds great. This replaced a 10 year old bose wave radio that I really love. The Zeppelin sounds much, much better. It does seem that you have to listen to the zeppelin at a higher volume to hear it at its best. May be something to consider if you are using it in a smaller room.

    great product

    • Written by from Mumbai

a fine product thats gives excellent deep yet warm sound .
however setup was a mess took me hours and plus airplay was patchy. after returning it to the B&W service center they informed me that i needed a firmware update and needed to change my wifi password settings to WLAN2/psk TKIP.
i have played songs on it for 6 hours at a stretch and there was no hassle.
it gives distortion free sounds even at full volume(which can wake up several of your neighbors)

Fantastic Sound, Bugs w/ Connection Fixed w/ New Updates

    • Written by from Gloucester

First of all the sound on this device is really great. I consider myself a bit of an audiophile, and this is by far the most balanced compact stereo I have ever heard. Unlike most systems where you have to sacrifice thumping base in pop songs for a clean and balanced reproduction of more classical music, the Zeppelin Air pleases my ears across the whole spectrum. Everything from Lady Gaga to Yo-Yo Ma sounds great. There were some seriously annoying issues with this machine when I first bought it. The air-play set up was arduous and overly complicated, and wireless playback was unreliable. Since the release of a new iphone app that completes the set up for you, these problems have been completely resolved.

I was new to B & W when I bought my original Zeppelin, I enjoyed every track on this dolphin nose speakers. Extremely satisfied with the product. I have to say, I had few docking issues on my original zeppelin. But, no issues the way it plays.

I couldn't wait to upgrade to Zeppelin Air, Wireless is awesome. Music is soo crisp and clear. This upgrade is a worth every penny, Thanks to holding on the price.

I bought the Zeppelin Air about 9 months ago to replace an Altec Lansing dock that didn't sound very good and met its maker. I like all kinds of music from Jazz to classical to pop, rock and world music and would consider myself a bit of an audiophile. I wanted something is small though and didn't have any wires and that sounded good. The Zeppelin Air with AirPlay sealed the deal and I have to say I'm mostly really happy with it. I stream music from my computer, the phone or play via the dock. For the most part AirPlay works very well, but sometimes the speaker doesn't show up on my phone or in the remote app. Then I unplug the zeppelin, plug back in and wait a minute and it comes up. I don't know what causes this and sometimes it's a bit annoying, but that's really my only complaint. I also love the fact that it's mobile and I can take it outside in the summer.

    Simply Awesome!!!

    • Written by from marysville

This is by far the best iPod speaker on the market. We picked up ours at a local Magnolia HiFi store and ended up using it as a sound bar for the tv as well as a wireless speaker system from our iMac. It's pricey but nothing else like it even comes close to the amazing sound this thing produces.

This speaker system is worth it's cost just in it's flexibility alone. With four different ways to play something on it (dock, AirPlay, USB, and Aux), it is extremely user-friendly in any environment. Then to put on top of that, it has a sound quality that many bookshelf systems can't attain to give you, this unit from B&W is a must have for anyone.

    Hifi replacement

    • Written by

I am a keen advocate of this product or may be biased in my comment.

I am not a serious audiophile but an avid pop music lover. I listened to coldplay, lady GAGA, Taylor swift and other well known artists. I chose this product based on 3 criteria.

First, it supports Airplay. I love to move around the house as I am not the type that can sit behind a test for hours. I spent most of the time on a sofa or my bed during holidays. That's why it is implausible to plug my macbook pro to the speaker and stay in a place. On top of that, attaching cables to the speaker limits your position of the speaker. You must put the speaker at a place that is next to the chairs and this is annoying because you cannot lay down comfortably or sit back to enjoy the music. I don't think much people can bear the moving around operations when you want to play another song.

Second, the sound quality is just awesome. During the first few hours of listening, I was in sonic heaven. I thought it was a live performance. B&W has done a phenomenal job on the clarity of sound, especially the vocal part, you can actually listen every words in the lyrics and the mid-high transition is seamless. If you like songs with lots of pianos and guitar background, Zeppelin is your best choice. If you like heavy bass, you should stick with the Bose. The bass of Zeppelin is just adequate and 'clear'. You can even hear the beats receding rather than lots of heavy "boom" sound. Many people said Zeppelin is not better than a standard "box" shaped home stereo hifi, but this is not always accurate. I listened to a few bookshelf speakers and found that the huge power output of them just distorts the sound. What you hear is a loud and bright sound without delicate transitions but Zeppelin is just keeping the sound balanced even at large volume. This appeals to me as I enjoy mellifluous and soft voice more than a cacophony.

Thirdly, it has a clean design. With airplay technology, you just need to plug in the power and enjoy the tunes. You do not need to take care of the cumbersome set up of the traditional stereo and save space on your limited desktop. The airplay is not difficult when you use alternative method (use build in wifi rather than ethernet cable, as it is much more cumbersome to use the wired method) suggested on the support section at the official website.

good quality sound and stylish looks

    • Written by from Sugar Land

Set up airplay is a bit of work since you have to wired. When you ducking your device the sound is extremely good but when you use with airplay, make sure you are in the same network for all your devices. Also sound will be interrupted if your network is just a little busy. Other than that, sound can easily full fill my whole big living room. I just love it.

    Worth Every Penny!

    • Written by from San Diego

First, a few things that didn't win me over right away was expecting it to be loud at a very low volume. To receive a decent loud volume you have to raise it to about 65%. However, I never thought I would enjoy music at low volumes, due to its built-in new and improved DAC. B&W recommends that you turn off your EQ, on your iOS device, or set it to "flat" due to the DAC. You can the "Tone Control" (Bass) using an iOS device while its docked under "Settings".

The AirPlay feature has a few bugs with the Zeppelin Air, although B&W shifts blame toward Apple when they emailed me. I would say it works about 70% of the time when I use it with my iPhone 4S. iPad 2 and MacBook Pro seemed to work well; I usually just dock my iPhone 4S.

Also, the first song you play has a major part in making you decide if this is the iPod speaker dock for you. When I first tested it, in person, I wish I would have played "This is my Life" by Edward Maya to listen to the full clarity. I later did try it with that song and I was able to discern just about every musical note being played; as if were the band was playing right in front of me. B&W is renowned for their engineering pedigree. Definitely worth the $600!

Review of Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air

    • Written by from Northville

I’ve had this for about a month now, and I love it. The sound is crisp and clean, the highs are clear, the bass is defined and rich. All in all, the sound quality is almost worth the $600 price point. Then you add in the Airplay functionality, well, what more do you want? Words of advice though; if the regular setup method doesn’t work, try the others that you can find on the website. For me, I tried the regular setup for about 4-6 hours, could not get the Zeppelin to connect to my router. I tried everything they said in the manual online to try and get it to work, but to no avail. Took it back to Best Buy, got a different one, and got the same results. Then, almost on a whim, I decided to try the method that uses your iOS device. Got it running in two minutes, and I haven’t had a single problem since then. Also, I’ve seen many people on here and other places complain that there is about a two second delay in whatever you do when you use Airplay on this (play, pause, skip track, etc) Let me tell all of you this is an “issue” with Airplay, not the Zeppelin. The data has to be transmitted over the internet, instead of there being a physical connection between your iPod and the Zeppelin. It is that way no matter what you use Airplay with, and I don’t see it being fixed because it’s not a problem. Anyways, to sum this up, I would strongly recommend the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air for anyone who appreciates music. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
