Jambox should be called the WOWBOX

Remarkable. This is what bluetooth is all about. You know we are living in a high tech world when this kind of sound comes out of such a small object. INCREDIBLE. Worth every bit of $200 bucks, if you like good sound in a small package.

    Bluetooth Instability

For the 20 seconds of sound I was able to steal out of the 4 hours of tinkering with this $200 speaker, I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. The device pairs with both my iPad and iPhone but will not push any audio out via bluetooth. I was able to muster 3 seconds with each powering on and off session, then the sound would cut off and disappear. I have already downloaded the updater program which has had no effect in solving the problem.

After plugging in the stereo jack and removing it, the speaker would play wirelessly for a minute then cut off as before. Have already reset both iPad, iPhone, and JAMBOX multiple times.

It seems to me this product is defective. I'm hesitant to get a replacement in fear of going through the same turmoil from today. Had it worked from the get-go, I'd have given it 4 stars (still too expensive) for the portability, size, and design (well, maybe not so much the engineering design).

The Jambox is a great speaker for on the go with surprising sound quality for such a small device. My only complaint is the volume of the speaker is somewhat limited in my opinion but the sound quality makes up for that small gripe. The website is easy to navigate and the ability to change the settings and download new updates for the speaker makes me excited for the prospect of things to come.

I love the size and sound quality. It truly blew me away for being such a compact device. It is solidy built and is a very cool looking device.
The problem I'm having is the quality of the speaker phone and the connection issues. I set it up on the jawbone website to work with my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2 and the connection reliability is about 50/50. I do like it a lot and have found many cool uses for it. It's a keeper

this product is overrated, it is not worth 213.00 its small yes, but its not very loud like the adds suggest. if i were at a party, and this was the speaker providing the music like the video showed, than it would b worth it. but its not i tested it out and its not all that great, plus its way over priced. next time make a product that is worth the money..i might as well buy a new iphone 4 for that cash. if this were louder than advertised, than its worth it, but in my opion no.

    Grat sound, little size

I bought a Tivoli Pal radio years ago. Loved the size and sound even from just one speaker.
What I liked about it was how portable it was. The Tivoli is battery operated.
Well my son took it to college and so I needed a replacement. The price on the Tivoli is now $220.00, $70 more than I spent years ago. I was just about to order one for myself when I read about the Jambox from Jawbone.
It was $200.00, almost the same price.
And instead of me having to plug in my iPhone it has Blue Tooth. But how was the sound?
I knew how good the little Pal was. So I figured I would give it a try. Wow, I love it. The sound is stereo not mono like the Tivoli and from such a little package.
It does not have am/fm like the Pal, but I have that option with radio aps on my iPhone.
I used it for background music during Thanksgiving and everyone was amazed and envious.
You can also download aps and other startup sounds from Jambox to customize your box.
So if you are looking for a really cool and great sounding speaker system, look no further.

PS: It also has a built-in mic for hands free phone calls, I have not used that feature yet.

This product is not worth any price you might pay for it. It won't stay connected to my iPad from only ten or fifteen feet away. If it won't connect, it's whole premise is bunk! You may, on the other hand, enjoy the weird sounds it makes as it cycles through the pairing mode. They're very annoying. That's all it does correctly. I'm returning it.

My unit connected an worked for phone calls but no bluetooth audio. Playing with the line in cable supplied highlighted that it was an issue with the AUX port. Very bad quality control. Their forums are littered with similar tales. I'd buy it from a store and check it works. I hope it's not an issue that will occur after the warranty expires.

AMAZING SOUND IN A COMPACT SIZE

We've been using one up at our office since xmas and let me tell you, it's amazing. Great sound coming from such a tiny portable box. It's great to throw in a bag and use on the road in hotels to having a wireless system in the restroom while showering.

Of course it's not some gigantic system that will power a nightclub, but if you are looking for some great sounding speakers that are (1) wireless, (2) rugged, & (3) great sounding, look no further.

I was totally impressed by my buddies in the office that I (and a few others) bought ones for our house and office.

For a what this is ( a Bluetooth speaker the size of a 1/2 pound of cheese ) , it really produces pretty decent sound . The bass is somewhat weak , but ok and the high and mid ranges are very good . The portability is great and the cool factor is undeniable . Buy it .

Will NOT buy another one at this price

    • Written by from Vancouver

This is my SECOND Jambox and only because the first one I bought essentially didn't work or if it did, only sporadically. The worst part was the hassle I had to go through to get it replaced. Yes, Jambox did finally send me a new one but said that I would have no guarantee on it, because I refused to pay for the postage to California (from BC) - - heck, why should I when I'd spent $200 on a 'Jambox guaranteed' device that didn't work?

The 2nd one, while better, still has issues: pop and hiss like our old LPs for crying out loud! Blue tooth failure? I don't know why this happens everyday several times a day in mid-stream. Then, the delay to get it to connect with its annoying blooping noise. The amount of TIME I spend on trying to reconnect is a total pain!

On the positive side, when it's working properly, in a small space, it can sound good (not loads of volume but certainly adequate for the size). Packing up is easy: you can throw it in a backpack or purse and off you go.

In the end I would not buy another Jambox: too expensive for the hassle.

    Bad sound quality

Bought it thinking it would sound good. Tested with: 1)Gym Class Hero-Martryial Girl and 2)fighter. 3) Nicki Minaj-Roman Revenge and a bunch others.

The sound of the speaker is minimal. If you want a loud speaker, avoid this one . The sound is very muted. it sounds like if you were to put a blanket over your speaker. That is what the Jambox sounds like. That said the speaker can't handle bass very well. It is cracking at the loudest volume. The treble is set low so it's not very clear. Horrible quality. Will end up returning today.

I did buy the Beats Pills by Dr Dre. It sounds much clearer, much louder, and can handle the bass of the 3 songs mentioned above. I would have kept it, except that it doesn't support the iphone5. Seriously??? Husband called their support line and was told that we will have to mail it to them so that they can upgrade the firmware. Forget that. I'm not mailing anything. The Pill is going back to the store too.

    Will try the Bose next...

    didn't connect automatically very well

I might have been doing something wrong but it wouldn't connect right away or at all automatically. I like the look of it a lot and the sound is decent. Again, like others have said, I didn't mean to replace my home stereo with it, just free up the clutter that wires create. I love the material that it is made out of and all around I will stick with it.

    Quality build poor execution

I want to love this product, but I just can't. It has wonderful potential because of all the bells and whistles it has built into it, but it fails short of it's primary goal as conference call box and wireless speaker. It fails as a conference all box because the mic SUUUUCKS and the speakers in general or just ok.

Not satisfied with the sound qaulity

Yes, it is small. Perhaps too small, it can't handle descent surround or even stereo sound effects. And there is subtle whining sound that discomforts my ears. I am returning it.
