    Good sound but...

    • Written by from Paris

Good sound but full of bleeps, beeps, and blurps, which in the end makes me think more of my daughter's toy. Very irritating and annoying.

    fuzzy sound.

    • Written by from brooklyn

if your sound is fuzzy, it's connecting 'mono' not stereo. click disconnect when prompted and it will ask again if you wan to connect in stereo. stereo sound amazing, mono sounds like complete garbage.

min will not charge though, i just got it yesterday, guess I'll go back tomorrow and trade it in, wish me luck.

    Packs a Punch

    • Written by from SAINT PETERSBURG

I purchased a Jambox not too long ago and it jams way more than I thought it ever could; I guess hence the name "Jambox". The unit definitely packs a punch & make you believe you spent more money than you actually did and in the long run you'll be glad you didn't buy one of those big name brand high dollar products & you'll save $money$ to boot. The unit is small enough to bring just about anywhere & you'll be happy you did because the charge provides literally hours of listening to video's & movie's. Well my money's on the "Jambox", well actually only little money.

Two failures - low quality electronics

    • Written by from Menlo Park

Upon purchasing my first Jambox, the device never held more than 50% charge. After several days of use, the device stopped holding any charge. The speaker would play with static and sputtering power if plugged into AC power, but died after several seconds running only on the battery. I returned the device to the Apple store, where they replaced it and acknowledged they had seen this issue before.

With the new device, trying to do things by the book to ensure no user error, I plugged the device in for 4 hours. When I returned to use the Jambox, it was completely unresponsive. I will have to exchange again or return completely.

I am very disappointed that a product with such high potential for good sound, mobility, and external design, could rely un such faulty electronics. Certainly not worth $200.

Audio fair except bass range. Terrible hardware experience.

    • Written by from Norfolk

I was recently given a Jambox by a family member, who had also bought one for herself. Within two days of minimal use (sound quality is good except on lower-register) the mini-usb port in the unit was somehow jammed inward.

There was no irresponsible handling of the device or charger, and when I called customer service and finally got them to understand the scenario, she seemed unsurprised and offered immediate replacement by mail (backordered) or at any corp. AT&T that would happen to have it in stock. Return was easy since I had the original receipt, and didn't even have the accessories, but the problem with my new one is that now the stereo wire has already broken near the input jack. Now have to replace that. Typical Apple problem (e.g. headphones).

    Okay product...not worth the money..

    • Written by from Surrey

Purchased to use with my Macbook Pro and iPhone 4S ... worked great with the iPhone but had constant problems with bluetooth connectivity with Macbook Pro... would drop signal every few minutes. Reset device and same problem. The price is high so it should be an amazing product, but the sound is good ... not quite amazing as i was hoping. After all this I can't say I would recommend it... I returned it to the store.

Excellent multi-purpose speaker solution with great sound

    • Written by from Whitby

I purchased this speaker several months ago and haven't regretted it for one minute. In our household we use it with iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch, MacBook Pro, Blackberry and a Dell PC so you can see its pretty limitless. The sound is rich and full, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The speaker is only just bugger than the palm of your hand, so it's extremely portable and we've taken it on several vactions since buying it (around the campire, at the beach, and in our hotel rooms) And although it's small, you can feel its sturdiness when you pick it up. It can be used connected via a USB or via Bluetooth and it holds a charge for a long time. The other great feature that I wasn't thinking about when I bought it, is that it doubles as a speaker phone; if you're using it via Bluetooth for iPhone or Blackberry, you can take your calls hands-free with great sound quality. Buy it, you won't regret it, excellent value in a great little multi-purpose unit!

Battery and Software Issues PLS BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU BUY

    • Written by from Singapore

It sounded GREAT but only worked for 2 hours in NYC. I traveled to Bombay got to my hotel room and the battery was flat. Tried to charge it for hours and still will not come back to life. Spent hours and hours on user forms to try to solve the issue. Still dead and no music or joy. Lot of complaints in the Jawbone Jambox user forms which I suggest your review to make sure the good folks at Jawbone fix this issue. I want to give them a chance so hope this will be temporary issue but if you read this be careful about this issue. I live in Singapore where there is no Apple Store so make sure you buy this where you can return it if it does not work.

Bought one based on review...the next because of first one

    • Written by from Asheboro

WOW, if you don't expect bass that is outside the possibility of this compact powerhouse, then it is a 5 star product, if you teach, if you travel and need a quality speaker phone, if you need a quality sound box for 90% of uses.

It updates well, you must read directions though, it is very sophisticated and flexible. Bose has bass but my Bose does not have clear fresh sound that this mini briefcase capable box with great travel case has.

GREAT for what it is meant to do.

    • Written by from Troy

The JAMBOX is an amazing little speaker. I love using it in my room because I don't have to leave my iPhone plugged in! I can also bring it on trips or even when I hangout places. The music is very good quality for a bluetooth portable device and it also works great as a speaker for calls. The only downside is it is expensive. If you are looking for simply powerhouse speakers than I would suggest a different one. However, if you are looking for a convenient well built speaker that is innovative and stylish than the JAMBOX is perfect!

    Sound quality doesn't deliver

    • Written by from Ottawa

I picked up the jambox yesterday, straight out of the box it was dead. Plugging into usb or the wall outlet I was greeted to a super loud, long beep. Thought that was odd - couldn't find any information about it. After trying some different usb outlets, the beep stopped and began to charge. I let it charge for about an hour, then updated to the 2.1 firmware an I was ready to try it out.

LiveAudio sounded a little better than the standard mode, but it too quiet to really enjoy (using iTunes equalizer I could bump it up a bit, but thats only in iTunes). I mostly listen to electronic music, tracks with moderate bass. I found it clipped very easy, and sound quality was poor. This was over bluetooth on my iMac (yes, setup as bluetooth headphones), so I tried my iPhone - same results. Plugged directly in via the audio cable, again same thing. Having read tons of reviews praising the quality of it, I thought I might of had a dud.

Returned my first one, tried a 2nd unit. It was worse than my first. Now tracks that previously had mild distortion were clipping in a really unpleasant manner. Leading me to believe its just a poor quality product overall. Other nitpicky things: no way to mute UI sounds, UI sounds don't adjust to the volume level (as in when its low volume the up and down sounds should match accordingly).

I really wanted to enjoy it - It looks great, the way it pairs and its customizable features are nice, but in the end it's sound that matters, and this doesn't deliver. I have a feeling most people aren't as obsessed about sound quality as me. At $200 this isn't acceptable. $50-80 would be a better price point for the sound output of this device.

Hopefully Jambox 2, if a new one is created, solves these issues.

    Worth the money

    • Written by from Decatur

This portable speaker system (wireless) is the best I've had. Portability is wonderful, batteries last, and sound is unusally good. I've used this speaker in rooms, at the beach, in the car, and at the pool. Sound and reliability remains constant. I have to admit I've spent far more money for far less speaker performance with other competitors. I now own several JAMBOXs (mostly red).

    Woah

    • Written by from Beaverton

This little thing puts out. It doubles as a decent gaming mic, I know that sounds weird (I felt the same way about it) but you will be surprised how nice it is to have a hands free wireless mic that doesn't have to be on your head. The sound is great. Paring is kind of annoying, and battery life isn't superb. Honestly this thing has great bass.

Pretty good but with a few problems.

    • Written by from San Francisco

I like my Jambox overall. It has a pretty good sound overall and works as promised.

However, there are a few issues. One is that updating the software via the website is too difficult. It's odd to install software that needs to be open and then visit a website -- why not just have the software itself update the firmware?

A bigger issue is that pairing isn't as easy as it should be. When I bought this I thought it used AirPlay -- it does not -- only bluetooth (or a direct wire). The bluetooth drops quite frequently -- and then I have to do a complete bluetooth / power cycle. It's quite annoying to deal with this as often as it happens.

Also, the system sounds are a bit over the top. At first I thought it was kind of fun, but now I just think they are way too loud.

I'm still pretty happy with my purchase, but there are quite a few improvements they could make.

Stunning Sound, Portable, Easy Setup, Far Exceeds Expectations!

    • Written by from DALLAS

My dad brought this home the other day as an early birthday present to go along with my new Macbook Pro. I'm incredibly picky when it comes to sound quality for speakers or headphones so naturally I was a bit skeptical when he brought home a tiny little speaker to help improve the sound of my music for my mac book pro. As everybody knows laptops and even desktops don't come with very good sounding speakers. So naturally you are forced to by an additional speaker or two. As soon as I plugged this little babe in I was BLOWN AWAY. The two things I noticed was the bass was HUGE for something so small but it wasn't so in your face either. The highs were incredibly clear and pristine. The quality of the sound is by far the best any small speaker system I have ever heard. It comes with a lot of stuff two. Two USB cords, a carrying case, a stereo cable, and mine even came with a stand but I got it from a different place so yours might not. And the battery life is PHENOMENAL!!! I've gotten about 5 hours of use so far and it still says it has 75% of the battery left. All in all this is pricey, and you could get a much bigger speaker thats louder for the price. But for the portability, sound quality, convenient size and the easiness in how it is operated this is SO worth it.

Awesome on the deck - Speaker phone a cool added benefit

    • Written by from Calgary

I have been using the speakers for audio on a small table in the back yard. The sound is great and the battery has lasted three weekends now. The speakers are worth the price as love the sound quality for such a power efficient device. If paired with and iPhone, they work awesome as a speaker phone.

    Absurd

    • Written by from Bethesda

Despite the fact that you need a construction kit to get the packaging open, they make Bose sound systems look and sound like a joke. Seamless and easy set-up. Love the wireless capabilities; it's just 2, 3 less cords and cables I have to worry about getting tangled up behind my laptop! The software Jawbone gives you to stay up to date is easy to download and use. They're super compact, so don't expect a home-theater sized speaker, but for its size it delivers ridiculously high quality sound and bass. Still I never would have expected sound like this from speakers this small. Well worth the price. Ignore the users that are critical, they don't know what they're doing when they set up theirs and they don't know how to use the software.

    Durable, customizable, good sound

    • Written by from Fair Oaks Ranch

The primary use is a mobile bluetooth speaker system. Secondarily, it is a speakerphone. The sound quality for the size is amazing. A lot more bass than I expected. I didn't give it five stars because of I didn't think about the impact of it being an "all-in-one" speaker system. If you are very far away from it, you are going to have a great mono experience. If it is sitting on the desk in front of you, not an issue. If it is further away, the sound suffers only because the speakers are so close to each other. If you just want to make noise, or use it close by, and you have $200 to burn... knock yourself out. You won't be disappointed.
