Great for Travel - some initial setup issues

    • Written by from Pacific Palisades

Great for travel. I use in my office, at home and can pair both my company blackberry and personal iphone (does not work with original iphone you need 3G or later). I personally hate wearing headsets so having a speaker phone option is great. Music is perfect for personal use.

Had a setup issue with the speaker failing and the customer service folks at Jawbone were great. They sent me a new devise next day air and personally help me set up everything on Mytalk to customize my experience. Even with this initial problem I recommend this product. Get the red, you will be able to find it...

Awesome sound and easy to set up

    • Written by from DOWNERS GROVE

Wow, love this thing. We were shocked at how good it sounded. And we were amazed at how easy it was to set up. We were debating waiting for the right "air-enabled" speaker or this one and I'm really glad we bought this one. It's kind of like choosing 3G for your iPad. Sure, you might mostly use WiFi at home, but being able to use 3G away from home just makes the iPad that much better. Neither of our elderly parents have wireless in their homes and with the Bluetooth, we can bring this over and play TV shows and movies for them. Because, you know, they've lived through the Depression and they are not about to waste money on TV shows and movies they enjoy, sigh. This speaker is very small but packs a punch. If you are on the fence, get it. You will not be sorry. And the red is gorgeous ; )

    Overrated

    • Written by from Vancouver

I went to the Apple store to check out the JAMBOX, after seeing such great reviews. The Apple store (Vancouver) does not keep one on display, so I was not able to hear one live. I took the chance and got one anyway. My first disappointment was that you need a jackhammer to open up the packaging. My second disappointment was the sound. This is a small form factor device with, lets face it, small sound. I believe the other reviewer's expectations were very low, as there is no way this is a particularly impressive speaker system for Ipod type music sources. Convenient with nice features, but tinny, unimpressive sound.

    Love this!

    • Written by from Towson

This little speaker does a bang-up job! It connects in a second and it sounds awesome for such a small package. I take it with me to Europe when I travel as I frequently need to do an impromptu conference call and it works like a charm. The sound is crisp and clear and plenty loud. No, it isn't going to make you think you're in Carniegie Hall, but if that's an unreasonable expectation for this device. In a normal roon, though, it fills the space with sound easily.

    Impressive portable speaker

If you are looking for a small, portable, battery driven Bluetooth speaker you should take a hard look at this little gem. This speaker produces pleasing audio for a package this small.

    Pretty Awesome Piece of Gear

    • Written by from Toronto

It's a very slick piece of industrial design, that sounds pretty darn fine, and just plain works. For those who say it's not loud enough, the new firmware 2.1 lets you toggle between LiveAudio being on or off. With it on -- it's a nice personal listening experience for a couple of people at best. With it off, this little thing that fits in a briefcase can fill a room. It's not going to sound like a full blown stereo system, but if you're travelling, it's a nice piece that will happily make enough noise in a hotel room.

The bluetooth is very cool, it's got pretty good frequency response, and with LiveAudio, it actually images in a weird but neat kind of way.

It's not a stereo replacement, and yes, you can get way cheaper stereo speakers that sound better, but you probably couldn't fit them in your baggy jeans pocket.

    Big Surprise

    • Written by from Trussville

I have spent too much money looking for mobile speakers for my iPad. All had been functional but bulky. The Jambox is GREAT. BIG sound out of a little box for iPod function. Works great as speaker phone (with iPhone) and without the usual echo. I just used it with my iMac for music while entertaining (air tunes + Jambox) and worked great. Seems as if the battery goes forever.

    Works great

I also have a Bose Portable. Jambox does not have the same bass but still sounds good. Have compared them side to side and Jambox is same volume as Bose is when Bose set to 3/4 volume.
Bought this as i travel lots and i wanted it to put in bathroom when i shower as i don't want Mac Book and Iphone in that humidity.
Only thing i worry about is that this thing will vibrate itself off a wooden or glass table when on high volume. Even with the rubber base u have to be careful where u put it.

    Awesome

    • Written by from Winnipeg

This little box is awesome. Like everyone says, it's big sound from such a small box. Just be careful what surface you put it on though because there is a lot of bass (for the size) and it'll vibrate right off a table. You just have to remember that your buying a small set of speakers, so don't expect to get home theatre system sound. I just have some trouble connecting to different devices like my iPhone and Mac but it always connects after giving it a couple tries. No big deal. So convenient that there aren't any wires either! I highly recommend. Just need to find the $200 to get it!

Good Sound / Easy Set-Up / Cool Form Factor

    • Written by from RANCHO MIRAGE

I bought this so I could get better sound from iPad 2 apps like Slingplayer, Netflix and Time Warner. After I charged it up I easily paired it with my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4. Then I went online to download a different voice. Good sound from an extremely cool and small device. Works great with video sources and iPod app, as well as Pandora and AOL Radio. Not cheap but definitely worth it.

    Excellent iPhone Speakerphone

    • Written by from Naples

I have been hunting around for a decent speakerphone set up for my iPhone. Tons of choices in the headset category, but few as a true speakerphone. Then I found the Jambox. Wow. First off this functions perfectly as a bluetooth speakerphone. Super easy to set up. People on the other end know I'm on a speakerphone... but that's about it. They can't hear background noise, and they all claim I sound great. Muting is easy and can be done directly on the Jambox (although you can mute by phone too.) The volume is plenty loud too. About 50% is good. Best yet... this can function ALL DAY as a speakerphone (on one charge.) Actually, I am charging it every other day. As a speakerphone alone it is well worth $199 and would rate 5 stars.

However, it is so tiny that using it as portable speakers actually means they are totally portable. This unit fits into a small purse! I'm not a huge audio guru... but it sounds good to me... no distortion even on the highest volume. Bass and overall tone was amazing. The Jambox weighs nothing too. Great unit to travel with.

I got the red and was pleased to see that the "dot" design is barely noticeable.

    Pros:
    - Uber small
    - Excellent speakerphone
    - Loud volume
    - Long battery life
    - Multi-use

    Cons:
    - Expensive (but if you ask me... worth every penny.)

Best speaker purchase ever for iPhone and iPad

    • Written by from STEVENS POINT

I have always had docking speakers for my iPhones and iTunes and were nice. I picked up the Jawbone on the one-day Verison special on Black Friday for half price. When I got back to daughter's house I turned it on, it paired right away and we put on some dance tunes. Despite having to go do more shopping, we danced to the awesome sound coming from this small speaker. It was like have a large stereo in the family room. And Bluetooth pairing makes it so portable. I think my docks have had their day. With the protective carrying case and ability to update drivers by MyTALK, microphone for phone calls and provided charger, this is what I am going to carry around when in the house and on travel; no cords, no docking, pure bass sound and responsiveness. YES!!

    Jambox Jams!

    • Written by from Bay Harbor Islands

I purchased the Jambox after owning several previous Jawbone Products and then a friend purchased one... after hearing it--I had to have one.

I travel most of the year--and my old Altec-Lansing Travel Speakers were just not hacking the iPod & iPhone. They packed nice in my luggage, but the cell-phone interference was unnerving!

The JAMBOX does pack a great deal of bass response. However, it will “hop across the table” when really pumping. I am just a little disappointed in the total available volume from the Jambox for its $200 Price Tag.

Bluetooth Pairing is the easiest I’ve ever experienced. And it’s voice response leaves nothing to the imagination.

Ask me? I say BUY ONE!

    Great sound for its size

    • Written by from Toronto

Pros: portable, rechargeable, good quality, decent sound
Cons: expensive, sometimes moves around on surface when set at loudest volume

Once again, I'm impressed by the quality and design of jawbone products. Started with the headset and then bought this. All my friends who have seen the jambox ended up buying one for themselves.

Great, but don't update on a Mac

    • Written by from Campbell River

I love the size, versatility, and sound quality of this little guy, but when I checked for an update using my trusty pre-Intel iMac, I got caught in an 'update failed, try again' loop, and it even suggested that my unit may not be functional. The bad news: the unit would no longer pair with my iPad 2. To solve the problem I restored my Jambox (easily done by holding down the circular talk button while you plug in the charger, then release then button). On the iPad I told it to 'forget this device', restarted the iPad, and paired again from scratch. The Jambox support forum suggests updating from a PC, and I guess that's because they know the Mac version is buggy.
But I still love my little Jambox. It's great for watching TV shows on my iPad or listening to tunes when we're camping.
