The headset is produces good sound for in ear headsets but the wire they used is weak. The cracks started coming in few months and then the stopped working with 10th month.

I would not buy it again!

comfortable, good sound, doesn't last though

pros: comfortable in ear, stays put, sound quality is true to Bose's reputation

cons: left ear bud stopped working after a year and a half (only offer one year warranty), everyone complained that it was hard to hear me with this headset (used on iPhone).

For those reasons, I would not purchase these again.

Ok sound, fine if in a quiet room

These headphones have no, repeat, no sound isolation. The control buttons are so close that you will have only a random chance of them achieving you intention. On a positive note, they headphones do stay put. If you listen or workout in a quiet place these could be an ok choice. Don't even consider them if you live in a city.

    Keep your receipt

The sound quality of these headphones is great, but they simply do not last. I've currently had about 5 replacements including 2 of this model and 3 of the previous model. After about 3 months the wiring comes lose and the sound will keep cutting out of one of the ear phones. Just make sure you keep your receipt. Good news is Bose are pretty good are replacing without quibble, just wish they made them better quality in the first place.

The only reason I haven't asked for my money back is because I still haven't found a better sounding pair of in ear headphones.

    Longevity is the only issue

I loved these when I first get them. But they just don't last when I run. I've had two sets now and the latest has done the same thing. The plastic piece on the volume control just breaks and falls off. The first time I thought it was a fluke so bought another pair. Then the same thing happened to the second pair.

If you just want a few months or don't work out with them, these are awesome.

    Great Sound, Horrible Design

Let me start by stating that these earbuds are great. I love the way the sound is produced. There is a good balance of low's to high's (not perfect, but good for about 90% of the public).

The only thing that kills me with these, and also why I will not use them again, is the silicone ear piece. It's very comfortable while in your ear, but taking the earbud out is almost impossible in one step. Every time I remove the earbud, the silicone earpiece remains in my ear. This is THE MOST FRUSTRATING thing to have occur when your desk phone is ringing and you try to answer... I have replaced the silicone twice hoping to get a fix, with no result. I have moved on from these headphones as a result, and will not replace them with Bose until they fix this issue. Very, very poor design.

    Good Sound Quality/Very Fragile

In terms of sound quality i found this headphones satisfying, but they lack durability. I purchased the 1st and 2nd generation of the Bose® MIE2i Mobile Headset, the headphones quickly suffered wear and tear by their connections. Reinforcement is necessary in those areas.

Great sound but terrible build quality

I've been using Bose Ear buds for about 2+ years now, and in that time frame I've had to replace them every 4-6months (This is free exchange at the Bose store, not repeated purchases). The buds work beautifully for a few months, then for no reason the buds' sound quality diminishes and then cease to work. I've been told by the store its a "bad batch" but its a repeat offense.

If you are addicted to the sound and live near a Bose store, which will gladly replace them if they fail, then they are worth the purchase. Otherwise, these will fail you way before their time.

Great sound and clarity, however one earbud will lose sound after less than a year. I bought a set and Bose replaced the orginal set under warranty after 7 months of use. Now the second set has the same problem after only 4 months of use. They sound great, feel great but do not stay in your ears, if you are a runner and most importantly they just don't last!!

    Not for working out

Less than a week into use-volume button no longer works. Also, any kind of sweat while working out will get into remote switch and either cause songs to keep skipping, pause or advance. Needs some re-work.

    Qualilty Sound, Little volume

i purchased these headphones a week ago but i returned them, as i did love the perfect sound quality, but in vain to the fact that it doesn't cancel out the outside noise, i am not sure as to everyone's opinion but, having quality sound is useless when you cannot get the full grunt of the music..... i could have a full conversation while wearing the headphones on full volume, i did enjoy the crisp sound, but when it came to riding my bike, all i could hear was the wind, i had tried all the types of sizes and combinations of all....all never closed up the outer sound. I also found them dreadfully uncomfortable, the ear modelling, if you're not used to normal headsets, really push into your ear, causing discomfort. If you are going to use them in an office/classroom/or anywhere enclosed, then they are perfect, but outside and other places, they are useless.

    What are people thinking?

    • Written by from New York

21 of 34 people found this useful

Ok, they do say that they are not noise-isolating... I guess i just never guessed how frustrating that would be... could not resist urge to push them further in my ears all the time, as they block out almost NO ambient noise and even at FULL volume, are not loud enough.
Hated them for those reasons, just a heads up for the peeps that volume or any noise isolation (anyone who lives in NYC) is an issue.

The fit was not the most comfortable...for me. The sound quality is average, but to me the price doesn't justify them. Bose is a name that they sometimes take advantage of, I will go back to my V-Moda Vibe Duo.

That's the best of it. Unfortunately, the sound is too base and somewhat muffled. People on the phone do not hear you as well as with the standard Apple in-ear phones. Nor do I think the music is as clear. I wear them exercising but use my Apples for everything else. Disappointing...

    Weak presence

    • Written by from Honolulu

14 of 19 people found this useful

To preface, I have owned the Bose QuietComfort 2's since they came out and love them. I'm not opposed to the Bose sound. I also own or have owned the Etymotic HF2 and 3's, the Bowers and Wilkins P5's, the Apple in-ear headphones, Sure 210's and the Ultimate Ears Superfi 5's. Have also tried to Klipsch s4i's but ultimately didn't keep them because no matter what tip I tried I couldn't get a good seal.

Good: dynamically good when pressed into the ear, seem to anchor firmly to the ear, don't come off with moderately vigorous activity.

Bad: Narrow soundstage. Poor audio presence (very thready sounding) unless pressed into the ear. No seal of the ear canal (given that they are not supposed to occlude the ear completely). Difficult to fit the buds into the ear (vs. foam or other silicone eartips). Earpieces are rather large vs. other in-ear cans.

Conclusion: Was looking for buds to use when it might rain, these are OK, but leak too much outside sound and don't provide the audio quality I would like to see at this price range. Will be returning these (thank you apple store return policy) and ordering the ultimate ears 500i, also considered the 600i's. If those let me down, I'll throw in the towel and buy the Klipsch image x10i's.
