Love this combo sound system, but...

    • Written by from Harleysville

I will not go into all the accolades that everyone else has made about these speakers.
The only shortcomings I have found is with the Mac OS itself, there is no Global Equalizer.
With an equalizer the speakers could be fine tuned and would be spectacular computer speakers.

I have the Sound Sticks II and I was extremely impressed. They have great sound quality and absolutely no bass distortion. They are a work of art themselves. They don't exactly match my laptop (a black PC) though. Again, I was very impressed with the overall sound quality, something you'd expect from harman/kardon. They can handle being maxed out without distortion or threatening to fail on me. These are a keeper. The only downside is they aren't loud enough for me (compared to a more expensive 5.1 set).

Lust 4 the eye, lust 4 the ear, makes your crack reappear

    • Written by

I bought these speakers a few weeks ago, and they are word every penny.

    A few notes though:
The cables are not very long, it can get annoying if you have a laptop.
The bass volume button is on the subwoofer, so if you want to change the bass, you'll Have to dug under your desk, gracefully showing your crack, while adjusting the bass.
Plus, if you have a laptop, and you unplug the cord from your laptop, you'll have to put the speakers out, to avoid the humming the follows. And yes, every time you want to turn them of, your crack makes his reappearance

These points don't counterweight the amazing sound or looks, just wanted to tell the dark side of the beauty.

EXCELLENT SPEAKERS! Harmon Kardon knows how to produce Great Sound!

    • Written by from Turlock

WWe purchased these speakers two years ago and the sound from this sound system is just GREAT! We love them. We love the look and the sound. We have had many our friends comment on how great the sound is and they love the look. They really looks good in setting, the office, the living room, computer niche. Its funny when some people see them for the first time they ask what they are. Once they hear the sound they are blown away. Great Bass and Treble, very easy to adjust and connect. Harmon Kardon knows their stuff in providing great sound quality. You cannot go wrong with purchasing this sound system.

    Love them

    Loud and clear

    • Written by from Winston Salem

I actually bought these for my LG Infinia TV. I got AppleTV, which is cool, but my built in TV speakers had virtually no base. Listening to iTunes was unbearable. So, I bought these to plug into the headphone jack on the TV. I did not want an expensive 5.1 system with a separate amp, and the new sound bar systems seem expensive and unsightly for 2.1 systems. I always loved this HK design (amp is hidden in the jellyfish subwoofer). I had the original with my Flower Power iMac. They sound as good as the look. They work easily with the TV. No need for a programmable remote. They just come on with the TV and change volume through the TV with the standard remote. They consume only 4 watts of power in standby mode. The Soundsticks provide room filling sound, without booming base. Dialogue on the TV is very clear, too.

    Incredible Speakers For The Price

    • Written by from Dallas

These things sound incredible. Sounds to me like that other guy works for m-audio. The sound is fantastic and the bass is nice and deep and doesn't crack when turned up. Just be sure to put them on the floor to get the full effect.

I read tons of reviews on these, walked into the apple store and bought them without a question. when i got home and plugged them in i was a little disappointed. don't get me wrong, they are loud. the sub shakes the floor above me, but the sticks sound muffled to me when it comes to crunchy guitar rifs. they are probably awesome if you listen to mainly hip hop, rap or classical, but if you listen to metal these are weak. i've returned these, spent the extra 10 bucks and went with the m-audio AV40's. guitars just simply sound better and more accurate on them.

    kinda bright, overall good

    • Written by from NEW YORK

These are computer speakers - not musical, not accurate on pitch, they're bright, turn up the sub. That's perfect for speaking, it reproduces sounds with zero warmth though, you're definitely listening to a computer. I like that they pivot and the set-up is easy. The footprint is so small, great. Go with the M-Audio's if you want a more musical speaker or are editing.

    Amazing speakers

    • Written by from Concord

This is an amazing set of speakers. The subwoofer provides enough bass for every hip hop song, and even the monitor speakers kick in a little bass as well. They play every type of music very well, and are very sharp. The only complaint i have is that the bass adjuster is on the subwoofer, which is typically under something, which is annoying. Besides that, i would recommend these for any person looking for a great relatively inexpensive pair of speakers. They work great for a desk in a closed room, and can be turned up very very loud. Great speakers

Let me set the record straight, just like the last reviews...anyways, these speakers are some of the best I've heard! Just plugged them in about an hour ago, and let me tell you that across the range (Steely Dan to Metal) the speakers have a very balanced output and great bass reflex! Man, My day just better!

If I could only give eleven stars.

    Awesome Speakers

    • Written by from Manchester

I was originally going to buy a pair of BOSE desktops but having heard good things and liking the odd look of the HKs I thought that I would give them a try. I must say that they are very very good, my room dimensions are approximately 7' x 14' and they easily create a very nice full sound without the need to turn them up particularly loud, a great choice of bass via the switch on the Jellyfish sub woofer, current settings. 3 quarter volume on the HKs and 4 clicks on the iMAC volume, an all round excellent speaker.

    Best Speakers!!!

    • Written by from Markham

Ive been debating over what speakers to buy for my iMac for sometime, but after hearing all the good reviews on the Soundsticks III I decided to go for it. The sound is amazing, clear and krisp sound great with anything I threw at them including movies as well. If your looking for speakers in this price range nothing else compares.

    Best "boom" for your buck!

    • Written by from Cincinnati

These are AMAZING! The frequency range says 40 Hz-20 kHz, but I ran a frequency test and could hear 30 Hz!!! I consider myself picky about speakers' sound quality and I love these bad boys. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!!!

    Great set of speakers

    • Written by from East Lyme

I purchased these speakers in March 2010 after reading other people's reviews and I am glad I listened. I love these speakers a lot for their rich clear sound and subtle deep bass. They take up little room and the sub sits nicely under the desk. I have wondered how much power the blue light on the sub consumes but I'm not really worried about it from an electricity saving standpoint.

These speakers are a great choice for anyone who cares about music, movies and sound in general.

    Great Speakers

    • Written by from Kuna

These speakers are incredible. The sound quaility is amazing. Even with the volume turned all the way up the sound is still crisp and clear with no distortion on the sub. With the speakers turned all the way up, only 1 notch on the macs volume control is plenty audible, its louder than the built in mac mini speakers turned all the way up. And not only do they sound great they look great to :). I would recomend these speakers to anyone. They also came with an adapter to plug in red and white cables so if you wanted to you could hook up a TV or even a record player to these.
