    Look great, sound fantastic!

    • Written by from Montreal

I was in the market for some new speakers for my *ahem* PC. After shopping around and looking at various makes, model and retailer websites, I settled on these (Apple was the cheapest, Amazon wanted ridiculous money for importing them). It was a tough decision between the JBL Alien III 2.1 and Harmen Kardon SoundSticks III. A long time ago I had a set of the JBL Alien II speakers, I was blown away with them, cheap and sound great. Well, the SoundStick have done it for me again. As other people have said, don't expect too much from the mid-range tones, play with the equaliser a little to get them sounding right. Final thoughts: Glad I spent the extra money. They look great and sound fantastic.

    STYLE AND CRISP SOUND

    • Written by from HUNTINGTON BEACH

THE VISUAL OF THIS SYSTEM IS UNMATCHED. IT'S FUTURISTIC WITH AN ART DECO FEEL. WHEN I HEARD THE TOP RANGE THRU THE BASE TONES, COMBINED WITH WHAT FEELS TO BE A WALL OF SOUND, I WAS PLEASED TO SAY THE LEAST. IT ALSO PLUGED INTO MY HDTV AND WORKED JUST AS GREAT. IT'S A GREAT PRODUCT AT A GOOD PRICE.

    great speakers

    • Written by from Anaheim

I hooked these speakers to my new 27 inch imac and was very happy with the way they sound. The one thing I didn't like was that the on and off button is on the sub woofer and the best location for it was on the bottom of my desk. I had to turn them off when not useing computer. the problem was solved after I bought new power strip made by monster witch has 3 outlets 1 for speakers so that when you shut down computer or put it to sleep the power to speakers turns off and on when you come out of sleep.problem solved

    A-MA-ZING!

    • Written by from San Jose

Both acoustically and aesthetically, these are the best desktop speakers I've EVER heard or seen.

Just received my new 27" MAC, went shopping for the BEST VALUE for speakers, read the reviews and decided on the H-K Soundsticks.

100% pleased. Great sound across the spectrum, sexy looking and the perfect compliment to the MAC desktop.

For only 20 watts of power, these speakers sure can blast. The sound is [VERY] crisp! If you purchase these speakers you will not be disappointed. For the sound quality, volume, and beauty, these speakers are well worth your money. I am overly impressed with what these speakers bring. Every time you turn on some music, you will instantly smile with the amazing quality and performance of these speakers. Very satisfied with my purchase..I'd recommend these to anyone.

I used to have a Harman Kardon stereo system in my previous car and the sound was crystal clear. Just on my prior experience alone with their products I ordered the SoundSticks to compliment my new iMac. Thank you Harmon Kardon. My neighbors probably hate me by now but thats how it goes sometimes. For those out there contemplating on purchasing these speakers, look no further as you will be as pleased as I am. The sound these speakers produce is loud and crystal clear. The speakers are also asthetically pleasing as they flank both sides of the iMac.

Lot's of cords but otherwise perfect

Until someone invents completely cordless electronics, these speakers and subwoofer are perfect. Beautiful design and mind-blowing sound. Completely transforms the experience of listening to music and watching movies to a different level. Excellent quality for the price and highly recommended.

    My Harmans

    • Written by from Colbert

I ordered these a couple of weeks ago. Out of the box i was surprised to feel how heavy the soundsticks were. The black ring around the base of each stick is very dense, making them very stable and less apt to toppling over. After i got everything hooked up i was very disappointed with the volume until i realized that their volume wasnt controlled through my macbook, but rather by 2 touch sensitive buttons on the right stick. The sticks sound amazing. Crisper than the 200w Bose reflecting speakers that they have now completely replaced. Initially found the subwoofer's sound quality to not even hold a candle to the quality of the sticks, but after a couple weeks of using them the suspension in the sub isnt quite as stiff and its beginning to sound much better. So fair warning, these require a bit of a break-in period before they live up to their full potential. I was also planning on purchasing some studio monitors for we start recording again but i feel that these will do as good or near as good of a job so i'll probably just end up using these guys. I love this set up. I highly recommend getting for anyone who want high quality sound at a moderate volume. As far as computer speakers go, these are the loudest ive ever heard. Get them!

Great speaker system. Rich full sound, enough to fill the house. My only knock on them is that there isn't a connection for a headset should you need to switch over ... Otherwise this classic style from HK is PERFECT!!

    Soundsticks III 2.1

I absolutely love these speakers! I bought them about two months ago and am really glad that I did! They are a huge improvement over the speakers on my MacBook Pro or my LED Cinema Display! I have tried other speakers, namely Bose, and I feel that these are much better and they're cheaper as well!

    Still the Best

    • Written by from Vancouver

I'm a professional in the sound & music industry and these are the only speakers that hold up for me at home when I want to check our mixes. With the adjustable sub, and with a little knowledge, they can be balanced to give a good representation of how well music can sound on a small projection.
I have a set at home and now have many friends on them. Well worth the money in this new world of sound.

I had these speakers for over a year, and they are perfect. They go really loud and the base is awesome. The sound is crisp, and this is the best buy. Don't even think of getting a different speaker. This is just what you really need.

I purchased these speakers last week and was skeptical at first, I had trouble deciding between the JBL and the Harman Kardon. Eventually I just went with the Harman Kardon after reading the great reviews. I could not be more impressed with these speakers. The Bass is loud for when your listening to music or watching an action movie. I can not speak more highly of these speakers and have recommended them to everyone I know!

    A must have for Applephile.

    • Written by from FLINT

It's a fantastic sculpture for your Apple. The clear subwoofer really looks like an apple. The wiring is a bit messy and there is no OFF button. I also wish it had BLUETOOTH. How cool would that be for your iPhone/iPod/iPad/Macbook. Are you listening Harman Kardon engineers?

    Impressive

    • Written by from Burnaby

Got these a couple weeks ago and I've fallen in love with it ever since.
As mentioned in other reviews, way louder than expected yet the quality of the sound does not decrease. Very well-designed, modern and unique. Perfect to pair with any PC/Mac and even works well with my PS3 and TV. Its easy plug-n-play allows me to frequently switch usage between devices.

Of course there are always certain negativities with everything.
First, the black stands which holds the speakers are very dust-attractive and its sticky texture makes dusting it rather difficult. Secondly, I wish that Harman Kardon would've put an ON/OFF switch or button somewhere on the two speakers so I don't have to get under my desk to turn it off from behind the subwoofer.

With that said, the SoundSticks III is still an amazing set of computer speakers, priced reasonably. After all, you don't really need to spend more than $200 on computer speakers, in my opinion.
