    Better than you can imagine

    • Written by from Fayetteville

These are the best speakers I have ever used. They have an adjustable subwoofer, and you can go from zero bass to "feeling your insides vibrate" bass. There is no distortion when maxed out on volume in all areas, actually they seem to get clearer (always crisp, never "tin can" sounding) the louder you crank them. I have tried at least a dozen "headset/ computer" speakers, some that were more than triple the price and some that were comparable. They do not look great in pictures, almost cheap, but in person, they are stunning and solid. The unique design is very minimal modern. I move them around my house with my airport express, and people ask me what they are (they have no idea they are speakers unless they are on) They are so versatile, I will plug them into my ipod, iphone, itouch, the computer, the airport express, anything with a headset jack, and I have an incredible stand alone stereo system. If you can't tell, I love them. Just try them, if they don't shock you and win you over, you can always return them, but I highly doubt that will happen.

Wow! Now, you look at these little speakers and probably say, they probably are very crisp, but are not that loud. These little guys CRANK. I play this off my computer in my house and i can hear it from everywhere. The subwoofer is so crisp. These were WAY louder then I thought. Amazing Product. Highly endorse.

    Great little speakers

    • Written by from Clarksville

I was reading reviews on the bose three speakers which was what made me decide to choose these HK's, have to say I'm not disappointed at all. They have a great sound & simple to hook up, and for the money you can't beat them. they have great highs & good bass, sound great with audio or as movie cinema. I would recommend them highly for the money.

    Beautiful Sound - Easy Hookup

    • Written by from Divide

I have the speakers set up at one end of a long front room (40'x16') in my mountain cabin (living room, dining area, kitchen). For this space, I can't imagine any speakers producing better sound.

The speaker system works great with Airport Express playing music from iTunes on my iBook G4 or iPad3, and it plays the audio portion of movies or TV shows I'm watching on my iPad3. The set-up was simple enough for a klutz like myself, and I even accidentally placed the speaker with the barely noticeable volume controls in the easier-to-reach location.

Pros: For simple listening enjoyment in a small home, it's nice to get away from the wall full of stereo components, equalizers, amps, etc. The equalizer on iTunes is adequate for my ears.

Cons: Wish there was a remote control for the volume - I'm not always near the laptop or iPad when the volume needs adjusting.

Note: I bought these identical speakers in Sep. 2012 for $152.12 (free shipping) at Amazon. Not much of a price difference, just FYI.

    Still the Best

    • Written by from Vancouver

I'm a professional in the sound & music industry and these are the only speakers that hold up for me at home when I want to check our mixes. With the adjustable sub, and with a little knowledge, they can be balanced to give a good representation of how well music can sound on a small projection.
I have a set at home and now have many friends on them. Well worth the money in this new world of sound.

    Nothing compares

    • Written by from Piedmont

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise... NOTHING compares to these speakers. For the money, you will learn to live with the fact that the sub looks like a giant jellyfish. Even the larger, more expensive HK speakers are only a slight step up from their much cheaper cousins. Best in class- absolutely.

Unarguably THE best 2.1 sound solution for your Mac

    • Written by from Surrey

I use H/K Soundsticks II and I would never trade them for anything else! At the beggining, despite all the reviews I have read - I was so sceptically tuned - how in Earth is possible, this set, built entirely of transperent plastic to sound as good as made of wood speakers?! Well, somehow they do! At least for me - they sound fantastic! Of course not better , but at least on par with my audiophile HI-Fi Pioneer stereo system, where sound is amplified thru a true MOSFET amplifiers and is delivered from 3-way speakers+subwoofer! Well, the Hi-Fi cost me 5 times the Soundsticks, you definitely can not place it on your desktop and despite of it good aesthetics can not compare with the "insanely beautiful" look of Soundsticks! So, if you can afford it - do not think about anything else! Go and buy one! And you won't be sorry!

    10 Years Strong

    • Written by from KANSAS CITY

As I continuously procure computer gear that interacts with my Mac systems I'm often left disappointed with the lifespan, let alone I find when I purchase something 24 months later it's outdated or has fallen to 25% of it's value at best.

I was utterly surprised to find 2 years after I purchased the SoundSticks that they were still selling strong for the same price. Unparalleled in the industry for sure. I find it remarkable that 10 years later these are still on the market! I have B&O throughout our entire workspace and in my office, I still rock these speaks out on my desktop.

I challenge anyone to say that they've had computer speakers for 10 years and for them to even be on the market to date, let alone, still selling at 80% of value. WOW!

Great Looks & Even Better Sound

    • Written by from NORTH YORK

I usually don't write reviews on products I have purchased, but these speakers impressed me so much I felt I had to back up what has been already said even more.

Apparently the IIIs are very similar to the Soundstick IIs, with the difference being cosmetic only. The new speaker base is now black instead of a greyish blue. The sub emits a white light instead of blue, and the logos are silver now instead of gold. The sound is identical. Why fix what isn't broken I guess.

The sound from this system is phenominal to say the least. They have great depth and outstanding clarity. A very well balanced system that sounds great at any volume. My wife works for a major audio/video company (who does not offer such a product) and even she was blown away by them at the store. Very rich and full sounding. Thankfully the store we went to had the 3 choices we were looking at lined up side by side by side and we were able to compare the Soundsticks with the JBL Creature III and the Bose Companion 2 Series II speaker systems using The Beatles Dear Prudence as our test song. The Bose sounded very muddy and didn't offer anything to control and adjust the sound. They also look ugly. No thanks. While the JBL system did offer up a decent sound for such a compact system and have a fairly cool look to them, they just could not match the quality of sound, nor the looks from the HK. They ready do go great with the iMac. The decision was one of the easiest I have ever made.

If you are looking for a set of computer speakers and can afford them, the Harman Kardon Soundstick IIIs definitely deserve a look at the very least. Don't be surprised if it's these you end up taking home with you though. Five stars!

    A MUST BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Written by from Manhasset

I have gone through many speakers and some even over $500, but out of all these are the best. It doesn't matter that something is more expensive to be better because these are at an amazing price for the best household speakers ever. I wish i could give this product a 100 stars, thats how great they are!

Oooooh My GoD, Don't even bother buying anything else

    • Written by from Westville

For the last 12 years I have always listened to a random order of music from my pc of New Age and Jazz....maybe a little classical. I own a small business so I've always been alone in the office everyday.

All this time, I've been listening to my music threw a really nice sound system. But when that system failed I purchased this. I hooked it up this morning, but when I got back and turned it on I could not believe what I was hearing. The same songs I've listened to for years sounded brand new. I could hear sounds within them I'd never heard before and at such clarity that just blew my mind.

Look.....the take away is so simple. This is the best speaker system. It is the most beautiful and for this small amount of money it is by far a no brainer.

    OH MAN. sonic mind explosion.

    • Written by from Vancouver

When looking for speakers, I didn't want to go for a run-of-the-mill set that looked simple. I wanted something remarkable. Something unique. And then I came across the SoundSticks III.
I am BLOWN AWAY by the sound quality. For the price, these are a steal! A wide, balanced range of frequencies. For you bass lovers - these don't disappoint.
Aesthetics normally are not that important to me but these are beauties. I've never seen a more visually pleasant set of speakers. Truly a masterpiece.
    Recommended without hesitation!

    Loud and clear

    • Written by from Winston Salem

I actually bought these for my LG Infinia TV. I got AppleTV, which is cool, but my built in TV speakers had virtually no base. Listening to iTunes was unbearable. So, I bought these to plug into the headphone jack on the TV. I did not want an expensive 5.1 system with a separate amp, and the new sound bar systems seem expensive and unsightly for 2.1 systems. I always loved this HK design (amp is hidden in the jellyfish subwoofer). I had the original with my Flower Power iMac. They sound as good as the look. They work easily with the TV. No need for a programmable remote. They just come on with the TV and change volume through the TV with the standard remote. They consume only 4 watts of power in standby mode. The Soundsticks provide room filling sound, without booming base. Dialogue on the TV is very clear, too.
