    The Best!

I got my Harman Kardon SoundSticks V1 15 years ago and they are still going strong! Not blown out and sound great. They seemed pricey at the time, but have held up tremendously.

Best sound speakers for the money by far if you don't want to go mobile.

    • Written by from Vancouver

I purchased the Harman Kardon a few years ago, and thought I would go back on the market to see what is available today in terms of sound quality and price, and I can't believe how little things have changed from a few years ago. This system rocks, you can adjust the bass, and I have connected them through an apple airplay device so that I have full control through any apple device in the house, which is awesome.

They are truly amazing to listen, and when you consider the cost, even more mind blowing!

Dear Harmon Kardon, I know you have released the one piece version of this, but you do not get the same stereo imagining as you do with you original version.

10 years later and still going strong!

    • Written by from Scottsdale

I have the very first version of these speakers which I have had for over 10 years now and they have been amazing since day one. I work from home and have these hooked up to my iMac. I play music on them 40 hours a week. The sound is great for both music and movies and the bass response is crazy. Normally I keep it on the very lowest setting. If these things don't last me another 10 years I will be surprised. Great looks, great sound and super reliable. This purchase is a no brainer.

speakers themselves are great, great sound quality, look great. Just wish they would go a little louder. Can control volume from phone/computer. Still have to bend down to turn off the subwoofer all the time.

My parents had an earlier version of these speakers when I was a kid, and I was always impressed. Naturally, when I went to college, I had to get my hands on my own set, and they do not disappoint. The construction is very solid, they look fantastic, sound fantastic for virtually any genre of music, and, when compared to speakers of the same echelon, very affordable. Don't underestimate the amount of sound they output either. When I play modern music on high volume, it can even be heard all the way down the dorm stairs and on other floors. The only things I would possibly change are as follows: The black Soundstick bases attract dust, so change the material, and add more LED's! The one white one in the base looks neat when the lights are dimmed, but if there were some in the Sticks and more in the base that changed colors, it would be a huge aesthetic improvement (to already beautiful speakers). Overall a great buy!

    Beyond Expectations

    • Written by from Memphis

These speakers are incredible. Knowing Harman Kardon as a reputable brand, I decided to buy these speakers with the aid of the $100 rebate from purchasing a laptop. I am not dissapointed. The SoundSticks III provide clear, rich sound that can play any genre of music, especially with a little tuning of the subwoofer. The sticks themselves are very solid and have a perfect weight, and the subwoofer has a light up led which complements the contemporary style of the speakers nicely. I would very highly reccommend these speakers to music lovers or anyone who doesnt want to break the bank on a set of speakers. These are amazing.

    Prone to failure

    • Written by from Thornhill

These speakers produce amazing sound for their size. Be aware that the primary speakers are linear, so they are *very* directional. My only complaint is that mine (and those of numerous other owners) can suddenly stop working. I loved the sound, loved the looks, but will never buy H/K again.

Over a Year and I Still Love Them

    • Written by from Saskatoon

I hate leaving reviews until I've had the product for a while, but since it has been a year I figure it's time.
When I first started looking for new speakers to replace the absolutely terrible ones I had before I spent hours over the course of a few days reading reviews in the form of 'Top Ten Speakers'. To my surprise most of the lists were different, but these were always somewhere on the list, usually in the top 3-5. They also ended up being one of the more affordable from those lists as well.
Anyway, got them delivered and had a pretty easy time with the set up; no complaints there. Used them and was graced with fantastic sound that didn't distort the louder it went. These guys can get loud! They look super cool as well, and they are pretty sturdy (Mine have survived a few trips to the floor via my cat shouldering them out of her way)
In summary: a purchase that I have no regrets over, and I would recommend these to anyone

Incredible sound, great price, awesome design

    • Written by from Vancouver

These not only look awesome, but sound incredible. They fill the room, even at low volume. And when turned up, they make sure everyone in your apartment building knows you're partying- they are so loud! They are crisp and clear, regardless if the volume is low or maxed. Super easy to hook up, volume adjustment works great, and the led light is subtle, just enough to let you know it's on if you aren't listening to anything at the moment. The soundsticks are nicely weighted too, so the tip-over factor is much less than you'd expect. Don't buy them if you live in an apartment building and are hoping to make friends with your surrounding neighbors.

    Seriously Heartbroken

    • Written by from Brandon

I did my research, read the reviews and decided on this system, which I admit, I was already drawn to because the design is just so freaking cool. Installation was easy and quick, as it should be. The system worked flawlessly for about a year and then just quit working. I had the base unit on the floor beneath my iMac and the sound sticks on my desk. The system was never dropped, struck or abused in any manner, it just went from good sound to a low register buzz. I'm guessing there is an electrical shortage in the system, but I haven't had the time or inclination to try and repair. Instead I just reinstalled my old sound system. I really wanted to like this product, but it failed miserably.

These speakers are amazing! Everything you can hope for. These speakers are SO LOUD, crisp and clear sound, bass is great, and they are very stylish. Also, the price is right. These are extremely inexpensive for what they deliver. These compete with the high end brands like Bowers Wilkins and Bang Olufsen. Definitely recommend.

A Perfect Computer Speaker - and then some!

    • Written by from Bridgewater

Purchased the SoundSticks III a couple weeks ago. Former speakers were Logitech. A highly rated model with nice mid-range sound with good base, albeit somewhat muddy. Good for 50's rock but not so much for Jazz, which is my preferred genre. I also enjoy Classical, i.e. 1812 Overture, Grand Canon Suite and William Tell Overture, etc. Love Beethoven. When I first hooked these up my immediate reaction leaned toward not enough base and the highs were, well, too high. However, tilting and pointing the Sticks outward took away the any harshness and filled my computer room with extraordinary sound. I am hearing instruments more upfront than I had with prior speakers, The base is perfect for Jazz with that tight beefy pluck of a base string! No more muddy lingering boom. Depending on the song, you will still get that full bass sound but its clean and specific. I only have the sub turned up to to about 3/4. A real pleasure to listen too. IMHO, I believe these speakers must be broken in as each time I listen, they sound better. I cannot get these speakers to distort at the almost highest level on my iMac. Sticks volume is set to 100%. Great looking too and the LED light is not annoying to me as some have critiqued. Get these!!!

    Great sound at all levels.

    • Written by from Port Saint Lucie

I bought these on a whim and wasn't sure how I'd really like them. Hook up and install was pretty easy. With a a/v selector was able to hookup both the iMac and PC at my desk to them. Amazed at how great they sound. The sound sticks have great weight to them and won't easily be knocked around. I highly recommend them to anyone.

    Terrific Sound

    • Written by from Chicago

I purchased the first Soundsticks 10+ years ago (they served me well) and just received the 2.1 Channel system - love the flexibility of being able to attach them to my mobil devices or laptop. The thing that thrilled me most is that I truly believe they are better, stronger more powerful than the first series which I guess is only natural - newer, better. The sound is almost too big (turn the volume down!)

I thought I would miss the convenience of the old USB version (you could control volume via your computer) and the "volume controls on the speaker" concept worried me when I read about them. What they don't tell you is that you barely touch the +/- to adjust volume.
    Terrific System.

    Amazing longevity!

    • Written by from Anchorage

I bought my HK Soundsticks back in 2006! I've used them with an eMac initially, then a macbook, then had several iMacs come and go since then, but these speakers have continued to perform flawlessly throughout. They are used almost daily as I listen to music on iTunes, CD's, or internet radio with them at work. I haven't touched the subwoofer in years but the little blue light in it is still on, letting me know all is well way back under my desk behind the many other items that have become rooted there over the past eight years. Very happy with this purchase. Mine must be an earlier version than the current HK SoundSticks III as the bases on my satellites are silver colored.

Great sound with plenty of power for sub woofer speaker.

    • Written by from Tyler

I loved mine when I got them when they first came out. The only problem was in the sub woofer adjustment knob. After a year or so the connection started to not connect the sound and I had to jiggle it and put tape around it to hold it in place. Some form of defect in the circuit. That was about 8 years ago. I hope they have fixed it by now. If not, they need to look at it. Otherwise , really great speaker sound.

Sound is meh. Not great. Not horrible.
Touch volume control is difficult to use.
Power switch is in rear of sub (extremely inconvenient).
    Sub is illuminated (annoying).
Power switch is is a push style potentiometer that doubles as control for independent sub volume, and prone to breakage due to its poor component quality and mounting design.
    No headphone jack.
