I retired an old TiVo and replaced it with a Mac Mini and this. What an upgrade!

I use it with a Comcast cable box. Can't believe how well it works. Now I can record movies from my HD channels and the EyeTV transfers them automatically to iTunes for my iPad. Transferring stuff from the TiVo was always a huge pain.

I was a little worried what the quality would be like through a non-digital connection, but I'm very pleased. It looks great, even on a 52" TV.

I have Comcast (Xfinity) HD, and I wanted to watch HD programs on our Mac for a long time. I am glad to find EyeTV HD. I hooked up EyeTV HD to our older white MacBook. The setup was simple. I just followed EyeTV Setup Assistant, and it was ready to go. Now I can watch live or record any SD or HD programs on all TV stations I have with Comcost. HD programs show up very nicely. EyeTV is very easy to use -- much better than Comcast DVR. As an added bonus, I can watch live or recorded TV programs from another Mac in the house or from iPhone or iPad away from home.

I have tried 3 different video recording devices and this is the only one whose output quality was equal to the original. A great device. Easy to use software and no issues with computer locking up.

My family and I were looking for a device to record the news and we were told about this device from an Apple Store employee. This is the best recording device out on the market. It is easy to use and the picture quality is HD.

One regret is not buying it sooner so I could see many of the old 8mm tapes of my kids as babies. I had been looking for something like this for a few years. My only complaint is not having more info on setting up from a Sony Camcorder to a mac. I plugged in the yellow and red cord ignored the white cord to the camcorder to the unit and then to my iMac hit record and then hit play on the video camcorder and it worked flawlessly. This product is very easy to use, simple device. Simple software which is faster to download from their site then do the dvd software disc that is included.

This is really easy to set up and does exactly what it describes. The picture quality is outstanding on my 27" screen using Cablevision HD box. I didn't buy it to record shows so haven't tried that yet.

I don't know what problems others have had but I'm delighted.

I use Comcast/Xfinity and everything worked great, easy to setup, and watching live TV or recorded shows on my iPad was so easy and quality and sound - no problems. Great support from the vendor via email and phone. The only problem I had was Elgato does not yet list the Cisco RNG150N cable box as a set top box so I had to teach it using the remote from comcast. It took several times to position the IR Blaster just right and then teach the box to recognize the numbers from the remote. Once that was done, it worked great. The nice part is you can schedule recording and the software will change the channel on the cable box for you in order to record your schedule program. Export to iPad puts it right in iTunes to sync with your iPhone or iPad.

    Direct TV and Elgato

Easy set up on the 27 inch IMac, Elgato software is top rate, simple and easy to use. Can't speak for Dish Network equipment but with a new Direct TV install it does attach to the Genie with component cables. On the mini client the outputs are hdmi and mini din 10 pin a/v, the Elgato inputs are component and mini din 10 pin a/v, so you are limited to 720 dpi [all the a/v connection supports] unless you get a hdmi to component adaptor or ask your Direct TV installer for an adaptor [ they may not have one].Then you will get 1080 resolution. Picture quality using the a/v connector is good to half screen on a late 2011 27" IMac, above half screen it is to grainy, the video works flawless though.
