    Great utility to have!

    I cannot believe I am the first to review this here! I have 20+ years in IT and know a valuable program when I see it. You might be misled into thinking nothing will ever go wrong, but drives do get corrupt and fragmentation does happen with drives slowing down. Drive Genius has many valuable programs any one in itself worth the price. The prior version saved me and this version 3 is wonderful. My drives are monitored automatically once I turn on DrivePluse and the defrag works wonders. Personally I could not believe the difference in performance. Changing partitions is cool too. The key here I want to stress is preventive maintenance and integrity checking. The program interface is beautifully done visually and is reassuring. The company is very nice , something that is important to me.

    Drive Genius is one nifty hard drive utility. Incredibly user-friendly. It offers the very best tune-up I have ever seen for the Mac platform. [now 20+ years with the Mac] The Defrag, DriveSlim and Repartition [on the fly] features alone are well worth the cost! NO wonder at all that Apple ProCare uses it for a yearly makeover!

    Responsive Technical Support

    This is an easy to use program which keeps my drives in good condition. It has an intuitive interface which is easily navigated. When I had a technical question, their technical support team promptly responded to my email. They even called me to be sure I understood how to create a disk image bootable disk.
    I feel more confident using a product which is backed by a caring and responsive technical support team.

    Great product and super fast tech support, plus NO CHARGE!!

    This software seems superior to Disk Warrior because it's not so fussy about what systems it works on. The company gives super fast tech support. I needed to update, which was easy and free, but it's not clear on their Web site how you get your updated version onto a bootable CD, so you can use it on your own system hard drive. I called, and my call was answered instantly, and a link to a disk image was sent to me so fast I did a double take at my in-box. Everything worked perfectly, and I was able to update without spending a penny.

    Great product and superb tech support

    I've used this software twice now for different purposes and it really cleaned up my 2011 Macbook Pro, as well as speeding it up considerably....especially my accessing sites on the internet.
    Also had an issue with my Mac freezing up (likely the result of a couple clashing applications trying to open at the same time). Tech support helped me walk thru a pretty quick solution and advised me on some things to do in my spare time to prevent quirks like that happening again. Abu also taught me a couple reboot tricks. Very responsive to phone call and excellent follow-up via email.

    Not only, that ProSoft Drive Genius 3 is an awesome software, but their tech support is simply unbelievable !

    They always help you to solve problem if there is some ... virtually in no time delay.

    This is an outstanding utility and company

    Over many years, I have used most of the Apple Macintosh computer service and repair software products offered by companies like Prosoft/Drive Genius. Drive Genius has never failed me, and it has performed some serious repairs that saved me from what would have been complete failures and loss of data. Frankly, I don't know where I would be without it. In addition, I have had amazingly fast and very helpful communication, coaching, and support from the Prosoft support people. I don't know how they do it, but real people respond in real time and their help is excellent. If you use a Mac computer, you can't go wrong using Drive Genius to maintain and repair it right if anything starts to go wrong. If I only had one maintenance and repair utility, it would be this one.

    Great product, outstanding support

    I had a DVD of Drive Genius 3 I hadn't used, and when I popped it in to my computer, it would't mount. So I contacted Prosoft customer service. No problem. They shipped me a fresh DVD right away. Two days later I mounted the new one and it works fine. This is a very useful and sophisticated piece of software, and I am much impressed with its capabilities. For about 6 years, I had migrated the content of my core hard drive forward to replacement drives, and I figured I must have some unneeded duplicate files. Since Drive Genius 3 could identify duplicates and replace them with alias, I thought I'd start using the DVD by asking it to identify my duplicate files. In a few minutes it showed me a list of over 4,000 duplicate files! These duplicates represented 30 Gigs of space that didn't need to be used. And the list was in descending order of size, which was helpful. So by using Drive Genius 3, I gave myself 30 Gigs of additional space. Very cool. And that's only my first use of the disk. There are other good functions here as well.

    Thanks, Prosoft, for making a great product and for such fine personal support.

    Great product with fantastic support

    I think this product is essential to those using a Mac for business or mission critical projects. It quickly identifies problems and monitors your computer in the background with no real slow down of CPU or disk access speed. Customer support is fantastic. My email was answered within hours. There was no hold when I called on the phone. Highly recommend this product

    Great product with great customer support

    I've had Macs for a number of years and have always had Drive Genius working in the background. This has saved my bacon on a number of occasions. Recently I had a problem where the registration refused to update the latest version of the application automatically. A quick note to customer service and a delightfully quick response solved my problem. Overall the products are great as is their customer support — highly recommended.

    Excellent Product Support

    I recently upgraded to from DG2 to DG3.1.2.
    However, the app would hang on launch, no matter what I tried, even using my most excellent Google-Fu, I couldn't get it to work.

    One email to support, and the recommended steps in the reply fixed the issue lickity split.

    The app is now working great. Thanks for the great app and great tech support, which seems rare these days.

    Drive Genius 3 support

    The software is excellent - that goes without saying. However, the customer care is also superb. When I had a problem activating DG3 on an alternative startup disk, so that I could repair my internal hard disk, I was immediately given a new registration number to activate the product.
    They have some excellent advice on how to create startup disks.

    Great Software, excellent support

    This software is excellent. Although one says that defragmentation on HFS+ is irrelevant, my Mac's are really faster after defragmenting them. I do benefit from defragementation, because the files I work with are normally bigger than 20MB and HFS+ just automatically avoids defragmentation with files less than 20MB.

    The whole diagnostic suite is amazingly working. Drive Pulse prevented me several times from data loss! With Drive Genius installed on a flashdrive, I was able to rescue all my non backuped Data of my iMac 27" harddisc as it suddenly died and the Mac wouldn't boot again.

    But there is one more thing I'd like to have:

    File- and Folder-Synchronization. These features are really missing. And It would be a great step if Drive Genius could realize it's own Rescue Partition, like the e-Drive in TechToolPro.

    But I'll never let my Mac's work again without Drive Pulse!

    The software is really worth the money!

    if you are using snow leopard OS, but if you have the latest OS (lion) you can't defragment your hard drive at all.

    This is my recommendation for the product, Drive Genius 3 by Prosoft Engineering. I give Drive Genius 3 Five Stars because the product is very solid and sophisticated, yet the user doesn't have to be a Super Geek to use it skillfully. Further, when you DO need help, I have found Prosoft Support to be same-day responsive, and dead-on with their suggestions and solutions. I recently had a jam after running a scan on my HD, and Prosoft Support came up with my fix same-day, and it got me back to happy sailing again.

    My approach to trouble-shooting is conservative: "Prepare for the Worst", "Hope for the Best." "Prepare for the Worst" is where Drive Genius 3 comes in really useful.

    This is a fully-loaded suite of 14 sophisticated tools to help you out of a jam with your Mac.

    Here is my personal list of the best components in DG3:


    DRIVE GENIUS 3 may not be the cheapest Mac disk utility out there.....but you GET what you PAY FOR!

    Drive Genius

    As a regular element in quarterly housekeeping regime, I've found Drive Genius (Disk Repair & Defrag) very useful. I know that some very tech savvy folks dismiss the need for such housekeeping- but when Photoshop starts to bog down a little time with Drive Genius seems to clean things up very nicely.

    DriveGenuis 3 and Lion OSX 10.7

    I've been using DG3 for a year now.
    I found that, yes, Snow Leopard needed the occasional defrag. I updated to Lion on top of Snow Leopard without issues except the the defrag feature of DG3 wouldn't work without restarting to the CD. I contacted telephone support and was informed that that ability for Lion hadn't been updated into the 3.1.1 yet. I also informed support I have to leave the country shortly and was not enjoying carrying instalation cd's. Lo and behold, within a couple of days, I had an email with the manual uninstall instructions of DG3, a link and instructions for and how to create a DVD image so I could boot from a thumb drive (2gb) when I travel (if necessary) and link from support telling me the the current 3.1.1 version available immediately on their site, is a silent update for Lion and incorporated into 3.1.1 .

    All in all, I think Prosoft's support is top notch and deserves a 5 star rating. Thanks!

    Provide useful information, also on connected drives and wifi TimeMachine

    I was a little skeptical in the start, as Drive Genius looked as an upgraded Disk Utility (the explanations on what is actually does and can do is not always extensive) but I have found that it does a great job when installed on the computer and watches over the different drives on the computer and those connected.

    In two instances in less than 3 months Drive Genius has identified problems and helped me to take action before the issue developed into a disaster. Besides the technical e-mail support is excellent and very responsive and helpful. The tech support did actually come up with very useful suggestions, when drive Genius reported problems with our Time Machine (T2) and made me realize that I needed to make sure to have an extra backup and get the thing checked by Apple (have not had the time to do that yet).

    I have Drive Genius running on my iMac and my MacBook Air, and are now considered an essential and integrated part of my whole set up.

    I read in the "Review Tips" here that users are not expected to comment on the services related to the product, but think that with disk utility like Drive Genius the support is rather critical for the experience and usefulness of the product, so I really hope that Apple will not delete this part of the comment.

    Drive Genius is an important to help you on keep an eye on the performance of the computers and drives.

    Great tech support

    I was a satisfied user of DG ver. 2 and just upgraded to DG ver 3. When I had an installation problem, I emailed tech support, got an answer back from Jeremy within 30 minutes, and his answer was spot on - I was up and running with the new version less than 45 minutes after submitting my support request. Can't ask for much more than that.
