I take A LOT of road trips and commute every day. In order to get the I-Trip to work, even in the city limits where there are lots of antenna's, I had to place my IPhone above the passenger's visor in order to get reception. Still had a lot of static. The display stopped working within a couple of weeks, causing me to primarily use the App feature...until the device completely stopped working only 6 months after I bought it.

Falls apart. The wires are not very well secured to the unit. They are very easy to to pull apart during light and normal usage. It looks like, to save money and keep their margins they choose to not put anything to hold the wires in the unit. The more it's moved and worked the more pressure is put on the tiny circuit board and eventually the unit won't work without some annoying fidgeting. I've re soldered the wires to the circuit board inside the tuner twice in a year and a half. This second time I made the wires a little more secure using parts from some old headphones and electrical tape. Not paying 49.99 for another poorly designed piece of junk.

I've used other iTrips before, and they all sounded great. Unfortunately, when my new iPod touch didn't work with them, I had to get a new one, and one that could charge my iPod sounded great. Unfortunately, the sound cuts in and out, the static is awful, and the volume is so low that the speakers have to be turned way up to even hear the music. By the time it's loud enough, the static is too prevalent to put up with. Buy the regular iTrip or something else, trust me.

Works when it works, which is usually never.

If you live in populous areas, like the others have said, don't even bother. I used this for a day and returned it because no matter which station it was tuned to, I consistently had static and interference on the frequency. Even after repositioning the device's transmitter, there was little improvement. Smart scan is useful if you're inert, that's about it.
