    Crazy awesome bag!!

Let me start by pointing out that I am a major backpack head. I have been looking for the right solution for my 15" MBP for quite some time now and didn't want to settle for one of those Incase bags. I got this bag the other day and it is AMAZING!! First of all, the construction is incredible. Its die-cut straps and machined aluminum clips are a perfect compliment to the beautiful design of my Unibody MacBook Pro. The layout of pockets is great and the crush proof top pocket is awesome for my iPhone!

I can't wait to see if the iPad fits into the front pocket.

I have to say that of all the bags I have owned, this one is by far the best. I have already got quite a few comments on it, and when I took my computer into the Genius Bar the other day, even some of the Apple employees seemed excited and jealous. . .

    -Cheers

The most fantastic laptop bag I've ever had

I've tried a number of various backpacks in the past. Some were issued from work, some I bought, some I even got at technology conferences. The biggest gripe I've always had with most of them was - if they were spacious enough to hold a 17 inch laptop they were typically too big. Navigating New York subway every day with something of that size has always been a challenge. Also the spacious ones tended to be fairly loose, lacking any frame. If they were small enough all I'd be able to fit into it was the 13'' macbook.

This backpack (which I suspect was specifically designed for Macbook Pro) is a whole different story. It's as big as you want it to be. The side straps ensure that you can vary the depth of the bag. The construction is superb. Let me reiterate this point - it's on par with the cream of the crop of the industry (i.e. Osprey, Samsonite, Lowepro). Material feels splendid and sturdy, front pocket has what looks like taped seams and waterproof zipper, the straps are exceptionally comfortable and the back of the backpack has an EVA-foam-like (not sure of the exact material) frame that feels very solid adding sturdiness to the back but not weight. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a laptop bag.

Great Quality but Smaller than it Looks

First, it's of very high quality. The zippers, straps, buckles all feel like solid material. The bag itself seem like a very durable fabric which is good because I'm rough on bags. They don't mention the size anywhere so I was a bit surprised by how small the bag is. I'm replacing my Belkin Slim Backpack and it's not much bigger than that. That's both good and bad. I still like a svelte bag but I was replacing the Belkin because I was busting the seams. I can fit my lunch bag in here or I could fit in a change of clothes for my commute but I couldn't fit both. That's not a deal-breaker, it just means I have to plan accordingly.

Also, it is very attractive. I really like the look of it.

    PRO's
    - Mac like build quality
    - Crush proof Safe Zone
    - You can clean your sun glasses/ iPhone screen with the material in Safe Zone
    - Side straps prevents open flap to 'dangle',
    - Easy access to laptop
    - When you bend down, with straight legs, the bag does not come sliding down to the back of your head.

    CONS
    - Would prefer hard cushioning (like the safe zone) at the bottom where the laptop is.
    - 20l is a bit tight.
    - If Safe Zone is full (phone, Hard Drive etc) it kind off gets in the way, nothing major.

Had this backpack for three years and it's been great. I'm an illustrator so I carry tons of sketchbooks, drawing tablets, workbooks etc everyday, this backpack has withstand all types of abuse.

    - Padded section prefect for protecting 15inch Mac / other fragil tech
    - Hard shell section protects sunglasses, phone etc easy access for little items
(removable shell is a plus when needing more carrying space.)
    - Front zipper section perfect for chargers/ small notebooks etc
    - Made to withstand serious abuse, thick quality fabrics & perfect rain protection
    - Generous padding on shoulder straps great for heavy loads & prolong use
    - Side zippers holds all kinds of bottles
    - Light weight

I've travled to several countries with this backpack, went mountain climbing and generally had it thrown around. If you want a backpack that will protect your laptop, be a workhorse and last for years the Thule crossover is the best I've had. Worth the price.

    It is very lightweight, durable.

I mostly like the way it sits and fits on my back the most: it's as if I'm carrying no weight compared to another similar-weighted backpack. Fits really well in a plane under the seat.

What I like the second most is the layout of the pockets: easy to access all items and they stay organized well. The space is enough to fit my computer, charger, and other papers, pens, kindle, cell phone+charger.

I was about to get the Incase Nylon: smaller and lighter-weight (but not by much). Overall, I am glad I got this bag instead.

Withstood a ~3-5 min downpour with no problem.

This case/pack is very high quality. All the zippers, straps, buckles are all well made. It is made of quality material and not some cheep stuff. Like someone else had said, they don't mention the size anywhere so I was a bit surprised by how small the bag is, yet it easily holds my 17" pro and all it's accessaries. I also bought a padded sleeve for my computer for extra protection and it still fits nicely in the bag. If you appreciate quality, this bags for you!

I have had this bag for over a year now and its construction is amazing. I use it every day and it has seen many rainy and snowy days yet has kept all the contents dry. I love the crushproof compartment for phone and sunglasses. I highly recommend this bag to everyone. It is well worth the price, as the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for".

    Doesn't Get Better Than This

I've searched long and hard for a pack that holds my 17" laptop, yet gives me space to add. Before the Thule, my options required sacrificing space, features or quality. Not anymore! The Thule Crossover is the best of 20 bags I've seen. Numerous compartments, quality zippers, snug fit on the laptop, sturdy backpack straps and compression straps to hold it all together. All I can say is, "WOW!" To boot, it must be an optical illusion, but the bag just doesn't look that big--weighs in at welter, but fights like a heavyweight champ. I kept adding item after item...laptop, sunglasses, ipod, wallet, keys, pens, pencils, 1" binder, 250 notecards w/ box, hardcover reference book, paperback book, mBox, Maxtor external HD, laptop charger, phone charger, water bottle...and it all fit. It was heavy, but then again, there were TWO HANDLES which made it easy to lift. Frankly speaking, it just doesn't get any better than this.

Like I said OUTSTANDING! It has a place for everything. I use this mainly for work, and it makes my life much easier on the road. The heat molded case for phones and sunglasses is perfect. I cant tell you how many times a day i used to struggle to find them in my old pack. (good place for keys and gps as well) I highly recommend this for anybody looking to safely store your electronics. It is also very ergonomic and comfortable to carry all day. GREAT job Thule!

Quality build, but terrible ease of use.

If I had to rate this backpack on the quality of the material, it would probably be a five, but whoever designed this backpack did not even consider ease of use. First of all, the backpack is very small, and the small pocket to protect your fragile items sticks way into the main compartment of the backpack. Over time this nuisance gets more and more noticeable, when you are trying to quickly reach in and get something. Also, the water bottle holders on the sides are awful. Your water bottle will not stay in without a carabiner. Another fault I see in this backpack, is the fact that there is no strap for the laptop sleeve, so if your backpack falls upside down, your laptop is going to take the full impact. All and all, this backpack has its good and bad qualities, but I feel like the bad's outweigh the good's for this backpack. For a $100 backpack, you can get a ton more bang for your buck.

Bag is perfect for everyday use. I'm an art major and I always had trouble with backpacks' durability when using them in a studio and this bag is very well crafted and can handle being mistreatment. I would highly recommend this product.

This backpack is all around great. It is very protective for both a computer and an ipod/sunglasses. It is also sleek, comfortable, and stylish. The only downside is it is slightly smaller than I expected, and is a little pricey. Overall, its an amazing backpack though.

    Bag for business and beyond

On the balance: a well-made bag that can do double duty in office environments.

I went in to the Apple Store looking to purchase a messenger bag for my 15 inch MacBook Pro to use for the office. The svelte bags from companies like Hex fit the laptop but little else like power supplies, USB cables, portable HDs, and so on.

I didn't want a back pack initially, but after inspecting the stitching, the zippers, and the compartments in the Thule Crossover Backpack, I was sold: the quality of this bag is obvious in the details (crush proof compartment with locking closure) and it's able to accommodate my laptop, my iPad, my portable gear, and several books with ease. While backpacks wouldn't normally look great in an office environment, the white-dot contrast stitching on the black nylon is subtle but attractive to me.

    Great compact bag.

This is a great compact bag that hold way more than you would expect. The sunglass container is a great feature but it does get in the way a little when you open the main compartment. For me, that's no big deal. It easily hold my 11" Macbook Air, iPad 2, and about 1/2 dozen larger sized books. The secondary compartment has well thought out organizational pockets. The side water bottle holders are a little on the small size but do well with a 20oz. bottle or smaller. I do wish they had a cell phone compartment that had easy access. As it is now you have to take the pack off to unzip and get your phone out. Very well constructed with top quality material. The straps are comfortable unless you have broad shoulders, then they digs in slightly. best bag in it's class that I have seen.

    Amazing Bag

When I was in 3rd grade was the last time I bought a backpack. My dad won a really nice bag so I used it from 3rd grade to my senior year of high school. During my senior year I had to cary so many books and my bag ripped but I still used it till I graduated. Now I need a bag to last me from my freshman year of college and then on. So I knew it was a good idea not to get a cheap bag and look for something that would last for a long time. I saw this bag and knew right then this was the bag to get, and I was so right about this bag. This bag is so much more sturdy then the bag I had so I knew right then this would last longer. I took this to my USF college orientation it started raining and its Florida rain and not one rain drop made it in my bag not one. I cant recommend this bag enough its definitely going to last me a long time.

    Everyday Bag

    • Written by

23 of 24 people found this useful

I bought this backpack to be my sort of "everyday" bag if there's such a thing. I guess it's like my own idea of having a "handbag" but for guys? The reason behind this is because I have a lot of stuff that I carry on a day-to-day basis like my laptop, its charger, my cellphone, wallet and iPod. Other accessories include my display adapter cable, my external hard drive, my wireless mouse and many other small things. If I leave the laptop at home, I can probably get away with having everything in my pockets but I don't really like having the bulges in the wrong places. I then decided to get a backpack for "everyday" use. Now I can conveniently carry around all my everyday items (plus the accessories that I may not necessarily need every day but now have the benefit of having, just in case I unexpectedly need them). Of course now I would not have to have to stuff my pockets anymore every morning (both a hassle and does not look too good).

Overall, I like the bag, it looks very sleek and simple yet possesses a lot of storage capacity. Because this bag hugs my back and is lightweight, I am definitely making this my new everyday "go-to" bag. Whenever I go out the front door, it'll be with me for both my "everyday necessities" as well as some accessories that I may need "just in case".

I recommend this bag to anyone who is looking for a great everyday bag to house their laptop and its accessories in a compact bag to take with them every time.
