    Great Mac Document Scanner

    • Written by from Knoxville

I have used a page or document scanner for years, and depend on it to keep down paper clutter. I have used the Fujitsu for a long time, but Apple engineers traced system problems to the Scan Snap software and suggested I change scanner. I bought this one because it is in the Apple Store, and is recommended by so many. I don't understand the negative reviews! This is BETTER than the Fujitsu. The software is better (scan snap software is threes different components), and organizes your documents all together. I had to do all that manually and move documents around. I recommend this scanner to anyone moving toward much less paper!

    Good Scanner

I use this with my work iMac. You can choose to scan into the Neat File Cabinet or scan as a PDF and choose which folder you would like to save it to on your computer (desktop, etc.). I scan as a PDF and save into my own folders not Neat's File Cabinet. This is really good for scanning multiple page documents, receipts and any type of cards (business cards, employee id cards, etc.) and for scanning double sided. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because, occasionally, the scanner doesn't pull the paper down, so I have to tap the top of it for it to scan. Overall, this is a really good desktop scanner.

    Does what I needed

I was very apprehensive about purchasing the product but I did it anyway. The software and scanner were easily setup in a matter of minutes. Started scanning immediately. My receipts were pretty battered but as long as the leading edge was fairly straight I had no problems. I've scanned hundreds of receipts to date without issue. The software does a pretty good job at reading the various documents. Reliability seems to vary with the condition of the receipt. I will not be using the cloud because it's too expensive for what I need. Backups were a concern but there appears to be no issue as long as the scanning software is closed BEFORE you make a copy of the library for storage on my NAS for safekeeping.

    Great Product

I am using both the Mac and Windows version of the software. I saw no problem with either version or that one was any better than the other.
The Neat Desk is a great tool. if you scan you documents in B&W, it is faster than if you scan in color. B&W scanning is very fast. I am very happy with this product.
