    Good upgrade.. with a hitch

    • Written by from Overland Park

The product seems to be good where I have tried it. I am, however, somewhat dissapointed with the update path. As a registered owner of Quicktime pro 6, I expected at least a discount on the purchase of Quicktime Pro 7, but it looks like you have to purchase the whole thing over again...

It's called PRO for a reason...

    • Written by

Those who think they can just use pro at start...don't. Pro is just for those who know what and how to use multimedia tools. It's features though, if you read the directions, are simple and easy to use over all.

    QuickTime 7 Pro Is Terrible

    • Written by from la Quinta

I have used QuickTime 6 Pro (PC Windows XP) for many years without difficulty. The new version, that I was forced to buy when I wanted by buy some iTunes, is terrible. When clicking on Export>Options, it crashes...every time. When transcoding from AVI to MPG4 it takes an hour while I have to watch stupid iTunes pop up ads. Apple can do better!

    Weird

    • Written by from Farmington Hills

I don't understand why so many people are having difficulties. I use QTP on my Mac and on all three of my PC's and it works fine.

Read the directions instead of just downloading and installing.

Stop dissing Mac because you can't follow directions.

    What about mpeg-1 and mpeg-2

    • Written by from Crawley

We bought the pro upgrade so we could convert from mov to mpeg, only to find it will only convert to mpeg-4 and Adobe After Effects will not import mpeg-4.

This is a huge let-down. After promising so much this product delivers nothing.

It's great if you want to dump movies on your iPod, but some of us have serious work to do.

    Why no additional CODEC downloads?

$44.95 down the drain - thanks for nothing Apple !!!

PS: The ONLY reason I rated this one star is because the forum wouldn't let me choose no stars.

    YOU GUYS ARE NUTS!!!

    • Written by from eugene

Alright...I am a PC user, and Mac users are correct...this player is very easy to use if you just read the directions...I figured it out without the instructions. I am a PC user, which should not be confused with a MICROSOFT user. Sure I use microsoft, but the term PC refers to a hardware based system. Yes, PC's are better than MAC's, but Windows isn't GET IT RIGHT FOLKS. Just pay attention to the WORDS that have been written for you software.

    PC + MAC = :)

    apple sweetness

I have an ipod 30g and its the cream of technology. The speed of one song to another is instant along with power up. I see the similarites with Quicktime and IPOD. The blue tubes and the personality. I love Quicktime and they were around in 1999. They have always been ahead of their time and my hat is off to them. Too bad I can't work for them. This program works great on a modern computer (XP and latest Mac)

Why you should use Quicktime Pro

    • Written by from Indianapolis

Quicktime Pro is for the people that the title indicates - Pros.

I work in a small studio that generates HD content, and in the past have relied on software packages like HD repair ($10,000). Our content did not have sound and we generally just felt this software was the only thing possible to crank out HD content on a regular basis.
    Not so.

We now use Quicktime 7 for all content. So, for $30 - we are doing what used to cost $10,000. You decide.

Slow to Export. Won't Open AVI.

    • Written by from Pleasanton

I bought this product so I could export some MOV files (on xp). It takes forever compared to other software, exporting to other formats. 3 hrs now and 21% of a 5 minute clip.

I also tried to open some AVI files. Every other piece of software opens them fine, but Quicktime only opens the soundtrack.

Compared to other products, the support documentation is sparse.

Poor Design & Not a Debugged Product

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

    1. This product has NOT been properly debugged, at least for the Windows environment. For example, windows do not close completely or move properly. Also changing of window size and saving of results is flakey.
    2. The video editing is not intuitive. For example, many editing features are found under the WINDOW drop down menu instead of under the EDIT menu.
    3. It lacks some basic capabilities such as supplying video transitions or more than minimal video effects. Microsoft Windows Movie Maker does a MUCH better job in this regard.
    4. It is incapable of reading Movie Maker files (type "wmv") unless I just haven't been able to find that capability yet.

    Not as advertised

    • Written by from Okemos

A lot of the problems expressed in the other reviews happened to me too. Exporting from FCExpress to QuickTime Pro = chopped footage; difficulty registering the product; etc. Using QuickTime Pro has only resulted in frustration and wasted time. I would immediately return it if I could. Heed the warnings....
