    QuickTime 7 Pro Is Terrible

    • Written by from la Quinta

I have used QuickTime 6 Pro (PC Windows XP) for many years without difficulty. The new version, that I was forced to buy when I wanted by buy some iTunes, is terrible. When clicking on Export>Options, it crashes...every time. When transcoding from AVI to MPG4 it takes an hour while I have to watch stupid iTunes pop up ads. Apple can do better!

    What about mpeg-1 and mpeg-2

    • Written by from Crawley

We bought the pro upgrade so we could convert from mov to mpeg, only to find it will only convert to mpeg-4 and Adobe After Effects will not import mpeg-4.

This is a huge let-down. After promising so much this product delivers nothing.

It's great if you want to dump movies on your iPod, but some of us have serious work to do.

    Why no additional CODEC downloads?

$44.95 down the drain - thanks for nothing Apple !!!

PS: The ONLY reason I rated this one star is because the forum wouldn't let me choose no stars.

Poor Design & Not a Debugged Product

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

    1. This product has NOT been properly debugged, at least for the Windows environment. For example, windows do not close completely or move properly. Also changing of window size and saving of results is flakey.
    2. The video editing is not intuitive. For example, many editing features are found under the WINDOW drop down menu instead of under the EDIT menu.
    3. It lacks some basic capabilities such as supplying video transitions or more than minimal video effects. Microsoft Windows Movie Maker does a MUCH better job in this regard.
    4. It is incapable of reading Movie Maker files (type "wmv") unless I just haven't been able to find that capability yet.

    Not as advertised

    • Written by from Okemos

A lot of the problems expressed in the other reviews happened to me too. Exporting from FCExpress to QuickTime Pro = chopped footage; difficulty registering the product; etc. Using QuickTime Pro has only resulted in frustration and wasted time. I would immediately return it if I could. Heed the warnings....

    Quicktime PRO upgrade

    • Written by from Perth

Purchased the PRO upgrade for my 14 year son to be able to transfer his DVD music videos to his Video ipod. After 3 hrs we all gave up with trying the software which has got hopeless instructions, is pretty user UN-friendly (in interface terms)and has next to no help or proper tutorials for DVD to ipod video transfers. It was a complete waste of money. We ended up spending a further $39 on an alternative software package that can do what Quicktime PRO should be doing with ease

    ripoff!

    • Written by from north brunswick

I bought quicktime pro for the "Full screen" control feature. When I used "Full screen" the entire picture became blurry! I bought Quicktime Pro so I could show movies(taken with my cell phone) for a court case! Now I can't show the movies with "Full Screen" because everything is blurred out! What a waste of money. When pictures are brought to full screen, the clarity should be the same as the smaller picture.

    Be very carefull!

    • Written by from silkeborg

I`m a pc user and I`m use to work with windows moviemaker. I only bought quicktimepro because moviemaker can`t/won`t handle quicktime files. Here`s my experience after 6 hours:

    :) installation, no problems.(5 min)
:/ make sure your computer has alot of RAM. LOT`S OF RAM.
:( If you like to work with moviemaker don`t never ever think about starting using quicktimepro. It use lot`s of ram to work. It`s not logic compared to moviemaker, and it`s S L O W...ZZzzz...

I wish I could get my money back. Now I will try to find a program that can konverte quicktime files to wmv.

    Can't get it to work...

    • Written by from Austin

I just bought and installed QuickTime Pro for Windows XP but something seems to be missing, in parts, yet in the Control Panel, it says that it's upgraded to QuickTime Pro. I've been searching the web, etc., reinstalled QuickTime 7.1, etc. but am not getting anywhere. I'm trying to create a QuickTime movie with QuickTime movie clips and add sound. Yet, I feel totally lost and am about to give up! I really wish there was a tech/teach support number to call. I'm a regular computer user but am very frustrated with this. Maybe it's a firewall issue, or something obvious that I'm missing, but, it's useless as is.

    Agree with KS from silkeborg

    • Written by from Knoxville

I also only paid for Quicktime Pro so that I could edit my video files. I bought a new digital camera and to my surprise the video files are only compatible with Quicktime. I was used to using Windows Media files and editing them with Windows Movie Maker, but I can't do that with this new camera. I wish I could take the camera back and get one that records WMV or MPEG videos. I can't figure out how to get Quicktime 7 Pro to edit videos. Can't say what I would like to due to the "Terms and Conditions," but I will say that I do not recommend purchasing this IF you plan to use it in the same manner as Windows Movie Maker.

    I've wasted $30!

    • Written by from Summit

I'm tech saavy and ignored the negative reviews. Wish I hadn't. This product is not user friendly.Sure I can watch my videos but conversion takes forever and trying to edit is a problem. I've found much easier programs that allow you to use the demo before purchasing to see what the product is like.
This was a big disappointment. I'm stymied!

    disgusted and terribly disappointed

    • Written by from Elk Grove

I should have heeded the warning of my son not to purchase this product. I can only assume most of the positive comments were from Mac users. I spent almost two days tinkering with QT7 Pro with negative result. I could not open the files I'd like to export to my iPod Video. Although, I managed to export a few files, they were only 2-4 seconds in length, and when I played them in iTunes, the screen was blank, and with a note, "NOTHING PLAYING". I called tech support and I did not get any help. I now kinda regret buying this 80GB Ipod Video. I really thought I could use it to save home video files that I can show to relatives and friends. Help anyone!!!

Only giving 1 star as I cannot give less

    • Written by from Aliso Viejo

I am giving this only 1 star as the web page doesn't allow me to leave the star rating unchecked. The product does not compare to Win Movie Maker. QT Pro is not user friendly at all. The instructions are very basic and seemingly straightforward but they may be a bit too basic... leaving lots of questions and loose ends. As the program is not user-friendly, it's pretty much impossible to find out yourself how to work it.
When following instructions word by word (trying to enter text to multiple frames), I would end up with either a black line across the top of the video, a white line at the bottom of the video or both. No text in sight.

Spend the money to convert files to a format Win Movie Maker understands... that is what I should have done.

Apple Fails Big Time with QT Pro 7

    • Written by from New York

Bought QTPro and the mpeg2 addin.

Comments: Need to make videos of bands I work with. As I have a PC, QTPro7 won't let me capture Mini-DV to .mov in one step. Second, converting avi files to MP4, mov takes way too long.... so long it's not practical to think of making a conversion with QTPro - unless I do it overnight. Finally, email video share only works with macs as well. These disasters should be mentioned upfront to the public before they waste their money on QT Pro Software.

Why are you charging MONEY for this?

    • Written by from Boerne

I can't believe you are charging customers 30 bucks for this player! I bought this for the "full screen" playback feature, and I have to tell you I've NEVER been more disappointed. The video is jerky and the sound is too compressed and sounds "phase-y!" I've been using both Windows Media Player and Winamp in years past, and I've never had such poor playback on either compared to your PRO player! No "pro" I know would ever settle for such poor poor quality! So much shame on you!

QuickTime 7 Pro - import frame rates

    • Written by from Racine

I was very disappointed to see that the frame rate option when importing an image sequence was limited to 29.9 fps.
What happened to the choice of 15 fps, 10 fps or 8 fps?

this is the main reason I purchased this upgrade. I hope I'm just missing something and the options are still there???

    very disappointed

    This is garbage

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Quicktime 7 Pro for Windows is garbage. It doesn't work. I never had a problem with Quicktime player, but the upgrade does not work at all. It tells me that I have Quicktime Pro installed, but there is no way of accessing it. My computer works well otherwise, and it far exceeds the minimum specifictions for the program. And tech support? Forget about it. Once they have your money, they don't give a ____. $30 bleeping THROWN OUT. Please be warned!!!! Zero stars.

    Horrible Results with Quicktime Pro!

    • Written by from Whites Creek

It has been a nightmare to try to install Quicktime Pro. Now that I did, it won't work, or works intermittently! All I see are green lines. For a few seconds I saw the movie, then green lines again. I work putting music to videos - I can't believe the shoddy support and unreliability of this product! Now I have to uninstall and re-install again, and if that doesn't work, go back to quicktime 6, which has no support. The tech guy didn't know what it was! It won't let me give a zero rating , so I gave it one star. This stuff is supposed to be easy! Buyer Beware! Ron

DON'T BUY IT!! Alls I wanted to do was convert my *.3g2 files from my cell phone to .mpg and .avi files, which this product does. But the quality if AWEFUL!! I can barely make out the faces of my kids on the exported files. What a waste, I wish I would have taken the advice of all the other unhappy people. This turns me off to Apple big time.
