    QuickTime Pro - beware!

    • Written by from Peterborough

Bought Quicktime Pro for Windows (at a premium, as I am in Canada ?!), and it worked for a week, then stopped. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Hours of online searching. No luck. No support from Mac. Money goes down drain, can't get a refund.

    iPhone use

I've been trying to upload video to my iPhone, and this was the best software hands down to do that. If you already have movies on your PC and want to watch them on your iPhone, then this is the software for you.

    Absolutely rubbish

On a Win PC don't bother with QT7. I'm continually told to install QT7 even though I have done so.. several times! I've been through all config and set-up and still my system doesn't recognise I have the software installed. Rubbish.

    Value for money?

    • Written by from FREDERIKSBERG

I Think that Quicktime Pro's extra features compared to the standard version is laughable. Why should you pay about 30 dollars for it. I think it is way to expensive. You can do a lot of the stuff i iTunes..

Like drug commercial warnings on TV

    • Written by

Some of the reviews tout the great benefits of QT7P and the rest scare you off with diasterous side-effects just like the TV drug ads. To get to the point: if I want to convert and combine (read:edit) numerous .mov files to create one movie playable on my WindowsVista PC, and burn CD's or DVD's to give to friends who will want to play on the average PC, what do I do. Do I risk the "side-effects" and gamble on QT7P or install something else like .......?

    Does not read my files

    • Written by from Iowa City

I was told that QT Pro was a great tool on the Win PC but... When I tried QTPro to open files from my DV Camcorder I got the message "is not a movie file!"
When I double click on the files they launch into Windows Media player.
I had to spend another $40 on "AVS Video Converter" in order to resave the file in a way QT Pro could even open.

Guess I do not understand Apples definition of "Pro"

    The Quicktime Question Mark

    • Written by from Alton

I purchased the Pro version of Quicktime and now I wonder why I did. Nearly every website I visit that has videos refuses to accept Quicktime. Instead, I get a question mark displayed over the Quicktime logo. I am running the latest Pro version on an iMac G5 with the latest update. I have no trouble with Realplayer or MS Media Player. Save your money and future frustration. Take the free players.

I download this product because it promised to be able to convert avi files and ect to ipod apple tv or ipod movie files but they seem to never work. Also the QTP seems to only play a view files and thats really disappointed and it was a wasted of 28 bucks, I really wish they had a 10 day trail so I could have at least tested it.

    quick time NO!

Apple prides itself on having the best products, and software. Well maybe make this program only for apple users because it was horrible with my HP. Easy to use, but made everything look horrible and all around was just very dissapointing.

    Quick time Pro

    • Written by from Potomac

I have found this product extremely frustrating for its use in the PC plataform. It does not deliver what it promises. Maybe in the Mac is better. I have a iMac but I do not find QuickTime any better though.
It is unecessary to purchase such an expensive product to get so little for your money.

OK, but Comparable Software is Better!

    • Written by

I have an ARCHOS 504 portable media file player. It's great! I use many different encoding software to make files that can playback on the 504. It supports AVI, DIVX, and MP4 (as well as MPG, MEPG, VOB, H.264 with additional purchased plug-in). I first purchased QuickTime 7 Pro so that I could encode files in a non-proprietary MP4 format. However, for the price you pay, you have very few if any real editing options.
I now use Nero Digital for encoding movies and TV episodes in MP4 and DivX Author to do the same in DIVX. I tend to use Microsoft Encoder for video files that are usually less than 10 minutes long. I then encode the files in HD format (which takes a long time) but is really worth the wait! It usually keeps original quality even though you're enlarging the image to HD 720p size. Apple has got a lot of catching up to do! It's too reliant on the early explosive success of the iPod, however that's way old news and old technology!

    Quicktime Pro What a rip-off

    • Written by from national city

I purchased this product because i have videos that need to be rotate, however once you rotate the video,
it plays soo Bad that certain images dissapear completly from the screen.
i had to shrunk the video size in order to be able to view the clip.
also it promised soo much, however once you need to use the other features,( B A M ) you need to buy additional software to use those features.
so my advice is save your money & next time when recording, do it the right position.
    Sorry QuickTime Pro.

    Incompetent people complaining on Quicktime

    • Written by

Quicktime is a great product for showing a lot of various video formats and converting between them. However it is NOT a video editor thus comparing it with Windows Movie Maker is a nonsence. Quicktime does very well what it is supposed to do.
If it cannot play a video this means YOU have not installed required codecs on your PC. Don't blame QT.

Download Windows Movie Maker instead - it's free and has significantly more functionality. I had a full edited movie with sound in minutes. Quicktime 7 Pro deserves zero stars is a huge disappointment and I really regret spending the $29.99. Apple should stick to music.
