    Not buying this product

    • Written by from San Pedro

I appreciate the candor of the negative reviews. I want to embed movies to my web site that I have edited in FCPX, but I cannot limit the image size. I had thought I might be able to control this with Pro, but I won't take a chance after reading the experience of others.

FYI I have been using MS Publisher for my web site.

Auto "updated" my Pro version to the free version!!!!!!

    • Written by from Hayward

I paid for QuickTime Pro awhile back and it was working fine. Then, one day, I launch it to do my thing but the controls I wanted weren't there. Apparently a QuickTime update for the free version auto updated my Pro version. Now, if I want to get my Pro version back I HAVE TO BUY IT AGAIN!!! WHAT???

    Unpredictable pile of garbage

    • Written by

This has to be the worst program I've ever used. I had used quicktime pro on a Mac about 4 years ago and it's video editing was limited, but easy to do. I don't know if the issue is with the PC version or whether it has gotten worse over the years, but this program is now TERRIBLE. Just trying to find where you can rotate a video is a battle, if you adjust the size, it randomly decides to ignore your edits. You can clip parts out of the movie and they'll randomly come back or you'll see flickers of frames you deleted days later after you have saved the file. You can trick it into adding titles, but it takes a tremendous amount of effort and after you spend an hour fighting to get an image into the video it will randomly decide to delete all of your video tracks so you can't see anything, yet they're still listed in the movie properties. If you paste in a movie clip of the exact same size of the current video, it will offset it 300-400 pixels and jump your original video over a few hundred too just for good measure, so then you have to dig through the menus and relocated the video back to the 0, 0 position - EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have to use this for work and I've already blown an entire day trying to add titles to 3 or 4 videos and I'm still not done. This program is not worth a penny and I will never ever use it again once I get this project finished.

Apple should be ashamed to sell this pile of garbage

    • Written by from Phoenix

I wanted a professional app for video that I could use in place of VLC. I bought this program thinking that, since it was from Apple, it would be great as are all of their other products. But I'm very sorry to say that it's a pile of junk. Just about every video file that I open with QT7 causes a message to pop up telling me that the audio can't be decoded and that I need to go to the QT site to download. But once I get there, the trail goes cold. I can't return it because I downloaded it online. So, all I can do is forget that ever bought it and never buy another piece of software from Apple electronically again (that's gonna be hard). This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't such an Apple fan. Steve Jobs, if you could only see what the people in charge are doing to your legacy.

    Laggy Player, Poor UX

    • Written by from San luis obispo

I bought the PRO version so I can correct the annoying gamma shifts that happens when encoding to h264. I am using a high end machine and using the Quicktime player has just been an annoying experience since the player generally feels laggy as I scrub through HD video. Manipulating settings in the movie properties panel is supposed to update in real time but it just lags and gives me an overall poor user experience.

If you want an excellent movie player, go with VLC.

Won't open old QuickTime (Mac) files

    • Written by from Hewitt

I have a large number of old (circa 1995-1999) QuickTime files (Apple photo JPEG, 320 x 240 format) that the Windows version refuses to open. It just gives the message "Error -2048: Couldn't open the file becaue it is not a file that QuickTime understands."
Even though the Windows version won't open them, they run fine on QuickTime Player 7.5 for Mac.

I bought this to convert a sequence of jpg images into a video file using the "Open image sequence" command. It just doesn't do anything. I can select the file and then NOTHING. Searched all over for answers, couldn't find any. Complete waste of $30.

AVI to MOV conversion very poor quality

    • Written by from Morro Bay

I purchased Quicktime Pro for Windows for the sole purpose of converting avi to mov format. I have nice 720 x480 Canon DV avi converted to MS DVI which plays a good quality image in Microsoft Media Player. It plays at about 1/2 resolution when loaded into Quicktime and the export to MOV file has similar poor quality. This is not the same as the Mac version which has a number of parameter adjustments I just can't find. I'm an engineer who has worked with many video products and this doesn't even do basic conversion. How do I get my money back?

    I want my money back!

    • Written by from APO

I purchased QT Pro to rotate videos that were shot sideways. I managed to rotate the images which now ballooned in file size and tried to continue working on the righted videos in Roxio (which could not rotate them unless you went thru four different steps and still had problems) to find the videos after being turned in QT Pro were now again sideways. I feel this should be stated in the descriiption and that the final product can only be seen in QT. I had planned on sharing these family videos with family and they may not want to use this software. I want my money back but of course one of the things you lose when buying software online is customers rights to return a product for purchase price if you are unsatisfied with it.
    Signed: Disgusted with Quicktime Pro

    Biggest Waste of Money ever!
It doesn't do anything special that any other free program can do. I had a hard time converting my video files and gave up. Not worth a cent! And now, I cannot even recover my lost registration key because the site cannot direct me to the page! Good Job Apple!

    It's a Trap!

    • Written by from Virginia Beach

I purchased Quicktime Pro in order to quickly and easily make very basic edits to some movies I'd recorded on my iPhone. All I wanted to do was rotate the movies in order to properly load them into a PowerPoint presentation. First off, the interface to do this was ridiculous. Had I not been able to look up a tutorial online, I would have spent hours looking for the method to rotate the movie. Once I found it, the movie appeared to rotate just fine. No amount of saving could actually make the change stay permanently so that I could properly display the movie in my presentation, however.

I wasted $30.00 trying to rotate a movie. It doesn't get much simpler than that and yet this product fails to do it. I'm frustrated and annoyed.

Quicktime Pro is a crime unto the world. Don't do it. It's a trap!

I never thought I would regret my first ever purchase from Apple!!

    • Written by

Just paid £20.00 to upgrade QT7 to PRO version. Yet I still cannot find the option that lets me burn ".mov" movie clips to DVD.

What a waste of money - even if it's just £20.00.

Ever since Microsoft brought out their MS-DOS in 1980s, I have been hooked on their technologies through thick and thin (I am an IT Administrator for Bluechip company); and throughout this period, I have resisted the temptation to buy into the Apple brand - except the freely available QT player. And today, my faith has been strengthened in Microsoft's Windows technologies.

We all need a reality check every now and then.

    QT7 Pro - don't waste your money.

    • Written by from Southgate

If you are a PC user, buy something else!!! I know it's my fault for buying something made by Apple for my PC, but this is the complete garbage!!! The PRO version does nothing more than the free Microsoft software that came with my PC so what's the point? It doesn't record video on PCs, only Macs. It locks up and doesn't display videos correctly. It forgets that there is an audio track included in some video files. There is nothing on Apple's website that offers any kind of helpful information. WHAT A WASTE!!!
