This is the worst pile of junk I have ever purchased. It can't even edit an mp3 file and save the edit product as an mp3 file. It will of course, save an mp3 file as a mov file. What junk!!!

    Bad product

Wow, do I feel suckered, I upgraded to Pro thinking it would allow me to edit MOV files, boy was I wrong. This is the most inferior product I've ever purchased, it does practically nothing, even trimming a video is a major pain, but try to add titles or any effect and your in for a trial of frustration. I've tried at least a dozen times to add a title to one video and no matter what I do, it won't be there after the file is saved. Oh it will play in Quicktime but NOT in any other program including YouTube. Don't east your money.

Error: Not a Valid File Name

I upgraded to quicktime pro some time ago. I was able to trim my iphone longer videos and save them to my desktop as two different files. For example as, IMG_100-1 and IMG_100-2. For some reason I get a file error when I attempt "save as" and rename the files. I've tried words and other names, all with same "not a valid file name" error. It does allow me to save the original file as IMG_100-1. But then I must redownload it off my phone to trim it again and save it as IMG_100-2. Also when I save the original with a new name it does not lower the MB of the file size. So when I burn the files to a disk they still read 829 MB, or something really high. Even though the trimmed video is now closer to 260 MB.

This product is useless. Dont buy.

I have a Panasonic TZ5 camera that take video in .MOV format. I wanted a product that would convert the video to something that I could use in Windows Movie Maker. This site says I can save QuickTime files in a variety of formats including .AVI and H.264. This is true but misleading. Every format I choose reduces the quality of the original. Also the software crashes for no reason. I feel cheated and foolish. This software is useless and I paid £20 for it. In the vernacular it is Pants. Dont buy. Why do I have to give it even one star? It deserves no stars at all.

Doesn't convert AVIs (at least not in Windows 7)

I bought this in order to be able to be able to show movies of my son on my Apple TV. Had already used a free trial of "PQ Apple TV Video Converter" which worked OK, but not great (bit jerky). Thought if anyone could do it right, it would be Apple itself.

I was wrong. Quicktime Pro wouldn't even open the AVI, and trying to export it to Apple TV was an exercise in futility. After an hour of trying different things I gave up.

The problem with Apple is that they figure everyone eventually will completely convert to all Apple products, so who cares if their stuff is genuinely compatible with other software. Very arrogant attitude. Maybe it's my fault for believing what they wrote on their webpage.

Would NOT have bought if I had been able to test the software before buying. Is NOT user friendly. Has been very time consumeing. Have used much easier software from other vendors. Just 1 more thing to add to the list of my dissatisfaction with apple products.

    Low quality, last Apple purchase

    • Written by from Duluth

Wanted to dump DV into HIGH quality files for archiving family videos -not for creating more rubble to put on the Web at low bandwidth or to display on a 2-inch screen, which is apparently what this is really for. Picked QuickTime in part because one camera I have defaults to saving in that format, plus all the hype about H.263 or whatever on the Apple site. Read a few reviews, thought it was a safe $30. WRONG!! The imports it saved are low-quality, and the Quicktime player made jaggie low quality junk of files I'd done elsewhere. You know that it's bad when the free Microsoft product operates better and displays the results better. Of course there's no satisfaction guarantee. So much for warm fuzzy cutesie Apple. They took my money and ran laughing. Won't make that mistake again --and will pass the word, I promise!

The only purpose for my buying this worthless product was to convert .m4v to other formats which will work on Windows. It absolutely positively 100% cannot do this. Don't waste your money.

You have to know what you are doing! I saved an audio file from the internet "as a source" and I can't get it to my itunes library. I can't even get Quick time to play it. If you are there (KM from Calgary), have pity and help me - if that's possible.

I recently purchased a new Pansonic DMC-FZ28 super-zoom Lumix camera whose software came bundled with basic Quiktime and which I up-dated to 7 Pro so I could capture still frames from the HD movies. What frustration. Following the.mov file capture sequence provided in the on-line manual, I attempted to save the frame(s)as a JPEG file but the program would always hangup when it came to the final step of choosing a compression type. It would then display an "encounterd error" message and close. No matter what I tried I have yet to be able to capture or display any movie frames using this program.

I bought this product to convert my .mov files to (any) other format so that they would be useful. Although this product claims that it will easily convert one file format to another, it doesn't. It returns an error about 70% into the conversion. It does this for all input and output files I feed it with every combination of settings I have tried. I am not going to bother contacting customer service or tech support. I know a lot about video and enough to know that it is the product, not the user, that is at fault. I gambled on Apple, I lost.

It only converted some of my MOV files to .avi files. I kept getting i/O error. I cut the videos to be shorter to see if they were too long. but that didnt work. my videos wernt even long. just over a minute in length. I called every support number apple gave me to help and NO ONE could help me. All I wanted to do was make a simple video on Windows Movie Maker. I am very upset with them and disappointed in this product. Not worth the price... at all!

DON'T BUY IT!! Alls I wanted to do was convert my *.3g2 files from my cell phone to .mpg and .avi files, which this product does. But the quality if AWEFUL!! I can barely make out the faces of my kids on the exported files. What a waste, I wish I would have taken the advice of all the other unhappy people. This turns me off to Apple big time.

I've had Quick Time on my personal computer for years, and am very familiar with it's strengths and weaknesses. In the past couple of days I've re-installed, upgraded, and been through all the trouble-shooting tips and tricks, and still no banana. It will not start when I click the shortcut on my Windows desktop. I would have given it zero stars if I could be sure it would accurately reflect my thinking on a one to five scale.

    Very Disatisfied

Expecting to have access to a separate video creating application I was disappointed to realize that QuickTime Pro simply opens up additional options in the QuickTime Player. The video creating options are weak at most and the creation process is extremely slow. Also, during the creation process there is NO progress indicator so all you get is a blank screen for extremely long periods. I have the latest high end system and the performance is completely unacceptable. This was an absolute waste of $30. Wish I could return the product but that option is not offered. If your looking for a video creating software look elsewhere.

No good for converting to mp3 audio files

I read the poor reviews of this product but ignored them because all I wanted was something to convert my daughter's Mpeg4 format music on her phone to mp3 files for her mp3 player. The promotional blurb says " Export to over a dozen different video and audio formats." but doesn't actually tell you what those formats are. You can convert to "wav" or ".au" but not mp3. I have just wasted £20 and would like it back please.
