    I am not happy.

    • Written by from rockville

It only converted some of my MOV files to .avi files. I kept getting i/O error. I cut the videos to be shorter to see if they were too long. but that didnt work. my videos wernt even long. just over a minute in length. I called every support number apple gave me to help and NO ONE could help me. All I wanted to do was make a simple video on Windows Movie Maker. I am very upset with them and disappointed in this product. Not worth the price... at all!

    QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows

    • Written by from Warminster

DON'T BUY IT!! Alls I wanted to do was convert my *.3g2 files from my cell phone to .mpg and .avi files, which this product does. But the quality if AWEFUL!! I can barely make out the faces of my kids on the exported files. What a waste, I wish I would have taken the advice of all the other unhappy people. This turns me off to Apple big time.

Your FAQs haven't helped so this is my request for QuickTime Pro help

    • Written by from Juneau

I've had Quick Time on my personal computer for years, and am very familiar with it's strengths and weaknesses. In the past couple of days I've re-installed, upgraded, and been through all the trouble-shooting tips and tricks, and still no banana. It will not start when I click the shortcut on my Windows desktop. I would have given it zero stars if I could be sure it would accurately reflect my thinking on a one to five scale.

    Very Disatisfied

    • Written by from Vestal

Expecting to have access to a separate video creating application I was disappointed to realize that QuickTime Pro simply opens up additional options in the QuickTime Player. The video creating options are weak at most and the creation process is extremely slow. Also, during the creation process there is NO progress indicator so all you get is a blank screen for extremely long periods. I have the latest high end system and the performance is completely unacceptable. This was an absolute waste of $30. Wish I could return the product but that option is not offered. If your looking for a video creating software look elsewhere.

No good for converting to mp3 audio files

    • Written by from Malton

I read the poor reviews of this product but ignored them because all I wanted was something to convert my daughter's Mpeg4 format music on her phone to mp3 files for her mp3 player. The promotional blurb says " Export to over a dozen different video and audio formats." but doesn't actually tell you what those formats are. You can convert to "wav" or ".au" but not mp3. I have just wasted £20 and would like it back please.

    Basic features, poor implementation

    • Written by from Eugene

First I don't think people should have to buy Pro to go fullscreen and I think it's lame of apple to charge for such a simple feature. After giving in and paying 30 bucks for a feature every other free player comes with, I found that it doesn't even work with 2 monitors on WinXP. No matter what monitor the QuickTime player is on, it will go full screen on whatever the primary display is.

I respect Apple as a company and think they normally do a good job thinking about their customers experience. But this is probably their most commonly used application that also promotes their other businesses (iTunes). I see no reason why their users should pay for something as simple as fullscreen. The other features like being able to save a MOV, fine.. that makes a bit more sense.. but not fullscreen and especially not a buggy fullscreen. I don't like being spat in the face. Stop being lame Apple, make fullscreen a free feature and _fix_ it.

Save yourself some trouble... listen to the others here

    • Written by from Hillsboro

This morning, I read these reviews, but downloaded the program anyway. (I've usually had success when I've downloaded programs others have struggled with.)

Being the positive person I am, and since it's usually only disgruntled buyers that post reviews, I made a mental note to come back and write a positive review after using the program.

    I wish I could.

I'm trying to compress video files to Quicktime files that have a small file size but still look good. First, I produced my original video file (with another program) as an MPEG2, then tried to open it in Quicktime to convert it. Quicktime said it didn't recognize the MPEG2 file. (!)

I then produced it with the other program as an AVI file. Upon trying to open it, Quicktime said I needed additional software. I was led to a web page which listed a dozen or so third-party providers for various plug-ins... but nowhere did it say which one of those many things I needed to download.

Finally, I produced the original file with the other program as a Quicktime file (which was quite large), thinking certainly Quicktime could open and compress one of its own files.

Not so. I could open the file, but couldn't change any of the export settings. And when I simply tried to export it with the default settings, it got hung on "initializing."

(By the way, I've used the other program for many things and have never had a problem, so that's not the issue.)

As one of the other reviewers said, I've already contacted my credit card company to put it in dispute and get my money back. Hassle I don't need.

If you DO download this program, maybe you'll have better luck. But I strongly suggest you don't.

    No DV Capture

    • Written by from Independence

Bought this product for its DV capture capabilities. Apple says "Capture Audio/Video... Use a FireWire camera to capture video footage and/or audio and quickly edit ..." (see /quicktime/pro). Ha! It doesn't do that! Everything is grayed out on the menus. Buried on the FAQ page is this note: "* QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows currently supports audio capture only." Thanks, Apple, for truthfulness in advertising -- NOT. QuickTime is coming off of my computer today; and I'll be contacting my credit card company, and disputing this charge.

Doesn't allow saving of certain content. Buggy. Non-returnable

    • Written by from Jersey City

I bought the program to grab a streaming quicktime home-movie so that I could send it to my mom. After playing with the software and recieving various odd error messages (3 different kinds!) I finally broke down and called technical support who informed me that QuickTime Pro can not save copyprotected works. Would have been nice if the software told you that the video was copyprotected rather than creating empty files. I wasted $30 on this non-returnable piece of software...

    Not worth owning

    • Written by from Gobles

Complete waste of money. Spent the $30 thinking it would help with my IPOD, but found it worthless at converting my files, so I never used it for many months. Yesterday I finally found a use: the recorder to record tapes to mp4--then suddenly QuickTime crashed, no known reason, and now refuses to open. Don't bother with this incessant advertizing junk of software.

    Requires Quicktime 7 to view

    • Written by from Saint Peters

That is the message I got when I was trying to view the Ipod touch tour video. I was surprised by this because I had purchased the Quicktime 7 Pro edition. Even though I re-downloaded the free Quicktime as suggested I did not get this video to play. I have registered it, opened the downloaded player I have on my computer, yet it doesn't compute that yes, indeed, I do have this product.

I was not able to find any quick fixes on the apple website for this problem. I feel this has been a waste of money. I have been oggling this ipod touch for a while and I do believe I would have purchased one. However, I think I would like to purchase from a product line that is more user friendly.

You cant even export to mpeg2 the most common/compatible video format on the planet! It seems you can only convert quicktime files like .mov to other quicktime formats not accepted by windows. Worthless!

    Complete Waste-I suggest not purchasing

    • Written by from Havre

I bought Pro to help make movies compatible with my iPod, and it did nothing of the sort. In fact, it wasn't any better than the regular, free Quick Time in any way. I sincerely regret having wasted $30 and they won't allow refunds or returns on it. I recommend that you seriously reconsider before purchasing this waste of software.

No audio track on exported file types!

I have just dropped 30 bucks on this package... I have .MPG files from my camera, but after importing them into iPhoto, I can not export them into iMovie... I have to change the format to something iMovie likes... so I buy QTP...

Sure QTP exports the video to 30 different file formats... only none of them have an audio track... and the answer seems to be buy another software package...
    Give me a large break.

This problem has been around since 2005...

    Hm...

    • Written by from SUTTON

I purchased this today, and it is one of the slowest softwares I have ever tried. Exporting video files so that I can watch it on my ipod, takes about...god knows how many hours. And to be honest I don't even think it works properly. It's just too much effort. My advice, don't bother with it. just watch videos on your computer.

    What is the use?

    • Written by from Coconut Creek

I purchased this for use on my home PC (Windows XP). It does not do much more than Windows Movie Maker. This product should be free to anyone who has an iPod, iPhone, etc., if Apple wants to really "lock" people into their hardware products. Very unsatisfied with the cost.
