Where is DVD to IPod Conversion?

    • Written by from SAINT CLAIR SHORES

I was under the impression that I would have the ability to convert DVD's to MPEG4 format with QuickTime 7 Pro. Nope....Hey Apple, don't you think users are going to want a way to convert their DVD's to MPEG4 format in much the same way that we can convert CD's to MPEG4 format???

Don't buy the Quicktime 7 Pro if...

    • Written by from White Plains

I bought the Quicktime 7 Pro only for converting my videos to see in the Ipod. But there is a huge problem!!! Movies like I made using my digital camera, wich are mpeg1 muxed (video + audio), goes without sound!!!! So, what's the big deal about Quicktime, why PRO? Why I spent 30 something dollars?
I just saw after the purchase how many costumers are complaining. Lots of them, belive me.
So don't be stupid like me. Who have to fight for the money back.
If somebody have a solution I shut my mouth, but I search, search... and nothing.

    DO NOT BUY !!

    • Written by from BROCKTON

I HATE QUICKTIME PRO, IT'S NOT USER FRIENDLY AND INCREDIBLY SLOW. WHAT A RIP OF, I'VE BEEN AT IT FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK FOR MY IPOD BUT IT SUCKS AND IT DOESN'T SAVE TO MY DESKTOP LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. I FOUND FREE SOFTWARE ONLINE THAT DOES WONDERS FOR MY IPOD (AS FAR AS VIDEOS GO)AND ALOT LESS AGGRAVATING. NO WONDER THEY'VE GOT A NO REFUND POLICY ON THIS SOFTWARE. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE ARE OTHER SOFTWARE OUT THERE THAT WILL WORK FOR YOUR IPOD.

    Quicktime pro= waste

    • Written by from Epping

For windows the programme runs slowly, I would highly recommend searching around on the internet for programmes which do the same 'proposed' processes if you are looking to convert files or move them to your video i-pod. Conversions are slow and for mpeg's or any windows media files and tend to either contain sounds- no video or video- no sound. If the purpose is converting files to mpeg4 for your i-pod I strongly recommend not purchasing this product.

    i don't get this product

    • Written by from Greenwich

i got this product today and i really thought that it was going to be great because of all of the specifications listed on the apple.com site. The main reason that i wanted to get Quicktime 7 Pro was to put existing movies i downloaded off of limewire onto my new ipod video. On the webpage it said that it could do so but when it came time to do so it wouldn't display the movies and when it did per say "convert" them they were no where to be found. In addition, this program gives mention that it also can put movies such as DVD's into the converter to put on the ipod but DVD's won't even show in Quicktime. This was a basically dead purchase on my part. Thanx apple for a great product. I am very disappointed with the outcome of my purchase, if you are trying to convert movies to the ipod, DON'T GET THIS PRODUCT!!!

    don't wast wour money

    • Written by from Herndon

I bought this software because it says it can convert quicktime video into a format viewable on the new 5th Gen. Video IPod. Don't duy it if that's what you want to do. First it takes forever to convert the file (like a half hour for a music video) after you have been patiently waiting for that half hour when it completes I have only sucessfully converted one movie to my IPod, the rest dissapear. It is very frustrating. If they make any other software that has these capibilities I would go for that instead. Save your $30 and buy a better software.

    Run Away!

After two years of perfect performance from QT 6, I tried QT7. Install looked good. Tried to play some of my videos. Everyone of them ran/froze/ran/froze from beginning to end. QT 7 is the worse piece of herky-jerky, donkey-kong junk I've seen in quite a while. I removed it, shot it, buried it in a shallow grave and returned to QT6.

QT7 for windows; IT NEEDS MORE WORK!

I decided to upgrade and paid my $30 and Quicktime Pro 7 hasn't worked for me at all. No audio, a basic for this product you'd think. My frustration is shared by so many on their support forum. I feel I've been ripped off! Can you give negative stars?

    Hard to work

    • Written by from El Sobrante

I bought this product to export movies, from the new to my ipod. Yes the movies come over, but w/ out sound. It also takes forver to transfer one video. It takes about 2 hours, and I have high speed. This is so stupid, that Im considering returning my new 30 gig IPOD, and just keeping my 20gig. I can only watch so much of Desperate Housewives. Its so easy to transfer music to itunes. But they make it a big deal, to transfer video. And you have to get pro to do so? It only takes seconds, to add audio files, but to add video files, that the IPOD can read it takes forever! This sucks

    definently not worth $30

    • Written by from bloomfield hills

The only reason I bought this "product" was because I could not put any .mpeg videos onto my new iPod video without it. Anyways, I purchased it so I could put all of my windows media player movies onto my iPod. However, the only video filetype you can put on the new iPod video is .m4v. So I was going to use Quicktime Pro to convert my .mpegs to .m4v's, simple? I think not. The only type of video file Quicktime Pro lets me open is a .mov. Newsflash apple, not every single video out there is a .mov. So i had to download a .mpeg to .mov converter and convert them useing that. but that seperate program only lets be convert up to 5 minutes of each video file. So once i have my 5 minutes of video converted to .mov I had to then open it with Quicktime pro and convert that one to a .m4v, this process took about 20 minutes. It took 4 times the actual video length to convert a simple video useing Quicktime Pro. This product has many flaws and is most definently not even worth $5. If apple was smart they would have givin it out as part of the package with the new iPod video.

Worthless (only reason for 1 star rating is because 0 is not an option)

    • Written by from santa fe

Quicktime pro is expensive and does not even work well enought to be worth half the price. I bought it for the express reason of beign able to export movies to my ipod. If a file even managed to contvert (the process was slow and very few converted completely) the file tranferred without sound and would skip and pause. If you want to convert video's for playback on your ipod, do not buy quicktime.

    Rubbish

    • Written by from CARDIFF

I paid 20 quid to upgrade so i can put video on my ipod. Its is useless, the instructions given to convert video to ipod say to use 'export to ipod' to convert file types...it creates an unknown file format that is rubbish and does not work on the ipod!! I have had to pay another 20 pounds for another program which is better but have tried converting many file types to many other types and have found the only type to work on the ipod is Mpeg4...and it is really poor quality so dont bother!
