7.2 is nothing but problems
Written by MA from Oakland Township

Apple needs to offer a way to step back to avoid these issues, or get to fixing this FAST. I can't even see the trailers in the Apple trailers section using safari. (Apple quicktime + Apple website + Apple browser and it won't work?) It makes no sense.

Too apple-centric-->try this app instead
Written by HJ from Scappoose

Short and sweet, the Apple Mac would be unusable for me if I hadn't stumbled onto some Freeware called Mpeg Streamclip. Highly recommended, saves the day, fixes timecode breaks, reads entire DVD style files, and knits them together. Otherwise, the Mac system suffers from an extraordinary disconnect from the "real world" and all the digital codecs out there.
That said, the QT engine is useful for putting chapter markers into .mov files, and Handbrake does this for you on the fly. Another save the day application to make up for Apple's inattention to user interface and completeness of Quicktime.
APPLE FOLKS:
Sadly, I'm seeing a lot of people who, like me, are disgruntled Q-Time users. I've had many, many problems/frustrations with conversions (speed, portability), file repair, and compatiability for file formats, either not recognizing mpegs that other apps recognized easily, or converting ones they could not recognize. The rate of the coversion is also quite slow (agonizing?), and yet does not seem to give improved quality as a trade-off.
Much attention needs to be given to this application to bring it up to a truly usable level of quality.186 of 227 people found this useful

It does the Job
Written by CH from Providence

At first I didnt like it too much. But you can make your ringtones on it. also you can record yourself from a regular camcorder and then send an email of the video message to your friends. (that works ok, sometimes the email will not go through.) But you can get a pretty good piture when formatting video for your cell phones. mp4 is the way to go. Other than that, they shouldn't be charging customers who already have the recent versions of quick time, at least give your customers some type of loyalty

I use QuickTime 7 Pro to convert Keynotes presentations into movies. It is simply flawless. The quality of the movies are excellent, the sound of the audio files are exceptional and it is quite easy to adjust the program to your own needs. Upgrading from your free software is the best thing you can do.

QuickTime Issues
Written by DW from Scarborough
Aug 17, 2007
QT is fine when it works, but it have a PLETHORA of issues. And, if you have a problem, often time reinstalling it doesn't fix it. For a software Application of this magnitude, there should be an application repair utility or something to fix the program when there is a problem... It's a real disappointment. Apple has lots of innovation and it's products tend to reflect that, for the most part. Apple's Major FLAW, which is also reflected in its products, is that it makes the assumption that everthing will work perfectly... It should, instead, make things with the assumption that if something can go wrong, it will go wrong. Many of apple's products have few utilities to fix issues when they arrive.

Money Down the Cyber-Toilet
Written by DM from akron
Aug 8, 2007
About an hour after buying Quicktime Pro I flushed $30 down the toilet just to see which felt worse. You can't do the SIMPLEST things with Quicktime. And if you can... you have to be a computer expert or professional editor to figure it out. The "help" section does not answer even the simplest questions. Save your money unless you were one of the developers of Quicktime and you already know how it works and what its limitations are... and don't get me started about the limitations!!! Also... don't expect any refunds after you've flushed your money down this cyber-toilet.

I would have given it 5 stars except that..
Written by SS from Bozeman

It is very annoying to pay 30 dollars again for the pro version when it seems like I paid 30 for the pro version of Quicktime 6 a few months ago.
To all users who say it does not work.
"I tried to convert video but there was no sound" etc..
This is a very novice complaint because it the program does work and im 99% sure he only copied the video over and not the audio track which is very easy to do both at the same time. I have never had a problem. As I said it should be 5 stars but it seems like I just paid for this not long ago.255 of 331 people found this useful

Novice Blues

At age 73, I am an average PC Home User' who is now a 1st time Apple (iMac) user who only uses email, Word & Excel (i.e., no video). Auto Update tells me I must get fix for QT 7 Pro for Mac OS X for $29 or have QT 7 permanently disabled. Very annoying. Smacks of Bill Gates & Co. Why must I add$29 of new software that makes movies (when I never make movies) just to keep QT software that I use only to WATCH graphics????
Forget it!!!!
P,S. Now, I have to rate it at least one star just to exit! I give it five MINUS stars.284 of 376 people found this useful

Quicktime worked great for a time. Now it is the cause of my computer crashing. I think apple is spending too much time on iphone and not enough to make sure other products work.(yes I have the latest update)
Thumbs down. I want my money back.814 of 993 people found this useful

Pro grade software
Written by MB from SAN FRANCISCO
May 17, 2007
I read some of the other reviews here and saw complaints. As a video editor I can tell you quicktime is a very usefull tool. I want to correct some of the misunderstandings. Buying quicktime pro you enable its recording and exporting abilities. QT Pro comes with a long list of avaliable codecs, but it doesnt mean you can export your video to every 3rd party codec. For working with different codecs you should install them too. At the end you are geting pro quality software for an inexpensive price. QT pro may look like a simple software but it is used in professional video projects with no problem by me and many other video editors. If you are working on video at any degree its a must have software.

Why does anyone need QuickTime Pro?
Written by JM from Margate
May 10, 2007
Since my first QuickTime Pro 3 I have had to upgrade to the next Pro level because every time the update comes in, it gets rid of the Pro. I never could use Pro for very long until I figured out what Apple was doing to me. I don't think the upgrade to Pro is worth anything. Other products can do the same thing without all the problems ... from the key not working right ... to finding where QuickTime Pro went to after an update.

I have to say that it might be overpriced for what some may use it for, but its the best at what it does. Nothing else is as good at converting, editing, and viewing movie files. A must have for video editors. I've had pro since version 6. I think everyone should have it.
