    Golly Wally bad reviews

    Written by LM from Eugene

    Feb 21, 2007

I am simply amazed at all of the negative response, about Quicktime Pro.
I have been using Quicktime Pro for several years on both windoze and macintosh machines. It has always performed flawlessly.
Converting files is what I use it for. I use all of the high end video prod. software.
Powerpoint is lame, what is its actual use? ( I actually do know how to use it very well) it can't handle large pictures, which causes stalls on even fast machines, won't work on another machine unless it has the exact same fonts etc.
and most people think it is a slideshow software.
iPhoto: golly wally does that really deal with video and sound? I did not know this.
maybe to play but it is not a {video production anything} maybe to ....

If it, Quicktime Pro doesn't work, I will just bet there is a user that has been buttering his bread with dumbbutter for way to long.
My Advice: start thinking OUTSIDE THE BOX, there really is an opportunity for all if you just stop using the dumbbutter that is being handed out so freely.

Rip off for new mac owner

    Written by LM from Carbondale

    Feb 17, 2007

I have the professional on my PC and I enjoy many of the pro-only features. I recently purchased a new MacBook and was shocked when I found out this 30$ piece of proprietary Apple software was NOT included with my new $1,299 Mac. I love my new MacBook and all that comes with it, but come on Apple, throw me a bone here!

    That did the trick!

    Written by AP from Lilburn

    Feb 8, 2007

I needed to do the simple task of creating a movie from still images (png's). I've used Imagemagick on Linux, Videomach on windows, even using powerpoint to create a gif animation, but still wasn't happy with the quality and ease of use. Within a minute, QT Pro created exactly what I needed.

    Works Great On My PC

I needed a program to convert my AVI files into MOV files for websites, iPods and Cell phones, and Quicktime was the perfect solution. As a PC user, I was very happy with the results. Thanks Apple!

    what did I get?

Written by SS from Federal Way

    Jan 21, 2007

I bought this to convert other formats, like it says it does, but so far have not found ONE other format that it would convert for me to use. In fact, I was just given a project to burn some copies of a training video someone had recorded on a new video camera that records directly to a hard drive (no tape), and I can't open any of the files. MPEG-2. Now I have to drop another $20 to convert them? Quicktime Pro, for me, was a waste of my money.

Agree with many other reviewers. Still can't e-mail these video files and get others to be able to open them, there is no indication that I even have Pro when I look at "About" QT Player. $30 down the toilet?

Nice, lightweight, and does exactly what I need it to do (make a few crops and rotations, and otherwise supplement iMovie).

Flat out doesn't work for converting .mov to .wmv

Written by ET from San Diego

    Dec 6, 2006

I bought this product to convert .mov files to .wmv. The feature is present but it doesn't work. I had a five minute video and it would convert at most 25 seconds of it. Tried multiple times - each time a different result but never a success.

I should have stuck with the free version

Waste of money for format conversions!

    Written by DR from Flemington

    Nov 27, 2006

Literature states "Export to over a dozen different video and audio formats." Too bad none can address the audio problems encountered when importing video clips from iPhoto to iMovie. There's a reason this product is non-refundable!
There is plenty of freeware that will do the job nicely.

if you don't mind spending extra its easy to save vids, use full screen, etc... since quicktime seems to be such an integral part of the mac lineup why don't they just make it do everything for free?

    What a piece of junk!

    Written by JH

    Oct 9, 2006

It won't play hardly any formats except QT. There appears to be no plug-ins that would allow playback of other formats. Mac's are the best computers: why are they inextricablty linked to this rotten viewer? I guess Apple just can't pass up another opportunity to shoot itself in it's foot again. Oh well. I doubt you'll see this review, critical comments aren't allowed.

I Love It! For exporting, editing, converting, etc. When it comes to audio / video (for $30 bucks!) you can't beat QuickTime Pro. I use it mainly for exporting audio into different formats. Simply put, it's a great tool to have in the shed.

    Doesn't Work for me Either

    Written by JG from Livonia

    Sep 6, 2006

I too did exactly as the e-mail said. I cut and pasted my code to make sure it was exact, and my name as well. It says QuickTime Pro on the area where you enter the code, but none of the upgraded keys are highlighted and so I can't use any of the features. Therefore a one star rating.

Frustrating and I don't look forward to hours on the phone getting to a techie. Any suggestions?

    Worth it

    Written by JG from Pleasanton

    Sep 2, 2006

It's worth the upgrade to purchase the full version. With QuickTime as my main video player, it is extremely useful to have the ability to play a movie in full-screen. I am slightly disappointed in Mac for not including this in the regular version, as full-screen playback is an important part of any video player, but was not let down by the quality upon completing the installation.
