    Not so bad

    • Written by from Bottighofen

QT Pro works like a charm on my iMac G5, except for converting to the new H.264 format. What a time consuming task! Also, Apple shouldn't charge $30 for each and every upgrade – loyal customers deserve better.

Still, QT Pro is a great product with dozens of great "pro" features, but it lacks proper marketing.

    Upgrade fee unexpected?

    • Written by

If you were to upgrade, say Adobe Photoshop would you be surprised that you need to repurchase it? Because QT is a download doesn't make it differnt. You upgrade you pay like anything else.
On the other hand, avi support is a little weak and some features should really be included without the need for pro, like full screen.
Make money from lisencing not users Apple! To maintain QT popularity and distribution, especially to non mac users you have to provide.

What a bunch of belly aching...

    • Written by from Kingston

Hey, the upgrade to Quicktime 7 Pro is a major addition of capabilities over Quicktime Pro 6. If you don't have $30 once a year for this level of software improvement than perhaps you should find a hobby that is a tad more stagnant than desktop video editing... Sheesh. What a bunch of whiners.

    great software

    • Written by from san francisco

those complaining that there is no warning of QT Pro keys not working with the latest version do not know what they are talking about. There are multiple warnings indicating the QT 6 serials will not work in QT7.

Good. . . but converting is SLOW

    • Written by from Sutton West

The software is excellent but the converting is slow for any file to .m4v (Ipod file). If your buying this for your ipod its a good buy considering that you can only use this program to convert files to ipod movies. I bought this program to convert home movies to my ipod and a regular movie (hour and a half) takes approx. 13 hrs to convert into a .m4v file. I would not hesitate buying this program if you have a 5th gen. ipod. But, for other uses i would not know of.

    Pricing issues aside, great software

    • Written by from Richmond

People are complaining about not being able to upgrade, and people are complaining to pay for some basic features. (Hey Apple, Sound Recorder comes free with Windows! Why not Mac?) But still, I don't think it's fair to rate a product one or two stars just because you're not satisfied with the pricing structure. QuickTime is simply the best media standard out there, and you truly get what you pay for in this instance. If I could afford the $30 myself I'd upgrade right away.

    Don't listen!

    • Written by from State College

Most of these reviews are just just saying that there previous edition of pro got downgraded. IT is not because of the quality of this product. This upgrade works great and I think it would be perfect for any mac user!

    Solid Encoder

    • Written by from Rolla

A few years ago I had a need to make videos from rendered image sequences. At the time my primary platform was linux, but I needed something that would simply and reliably encode video that would playback on multiple platforms. I had issues with the major open source encoder. In contrast, QuickTime 7 Pro just works. When encoding for the web you get an html page that is trivial to adapt and provides for file selection based on the client. Saving is flexible with a variety of options to choose from.

For simple encoding needs it is a robust solution that just works.

love apple but dont like Quick Time Pro

    • Written by from Saint Peters

I have been happy with every purchase I have ever made with Apple but this software is worthless. I was only able to save one video from the web and nothing after. That was my whole purpose for purchasing the software. If any one finds a fix or knows what the problem is, please post a solultion.

    Great Product but....

    • Written by from Escanaba

i purchased Quicktime 7 Pro for Windows and this software has been great for me so far. I had a few problems with it crashing on my Windows machine, but nothing major or that I wouldn't expect for Windows. Now that I have made the switch to the new iMac (my first Apple), you would think that my license could transfer to the Mac OS X, but Apple and their greedy accountants (no more so than Microsoft accountants) would like me to lay down more money for another copy to run on my iMac. Let's make the software available for both using the same key or at least give me a discount. Greed is what is drove me from Windows please Apple don't follow Microsoft's example.

    Solid Purchase

    • Written by from Carrollton

I bought Pro thinking that I had to have it for doing a video project in Logic quite awhile back (the basic would have worked). Since then, I have grown to love it as it is a standard and worth the price. I have used it to pull out commercials in MP4s and basic "to frame" editing. You will get your money out of it (for those who think it needs to be free). It's not like Apple is going to let their flagship video player get buggy... The ratings on this should be WAY higher.

    The best Apple product yet!!!

    • Written by from SAN FRANCISCO

This product is amazing and dazzling. With it, there are so many options and additions to multimedia, you can do anything you want and your project will turn
out fantastic. You have so many import and export options as well as so many the
various functions that only come with this product, that, for the minimal cost of only $32 with tax, is the best deal anywhere.

It is the greatest multimedia devepment & editing software around
