    Disappointed

Disappointed in the lack of features. Not enough bang for the upgrade buck.

Not sure what the upgrade gave me.

Agree with many other reviewers. Still can't e-mail these video files and get others to be able to open them, there is no indication that I even have Pro when I look at "About" QT Player. $30 down the toilet?

    Works quite nicely

    • Written by from Burnaby

Nice, lightweight, and does exactly what I need it to do (make a few crops and rotations, and otherwise supplement iMovie).

Flat out doesn't work for converting .mov to .wmv

    • Written by from San Diego

I bought this product to convert .mov files to .wmv. The feature is present but it doesn't work. I had a five minute video and it would convert at most 25 seconds of it. Tried multiple times - each time a different result but never a success.

I should have stuck with the free version

Waste of money for format conversions!

    • Written by from Flemington

Literature states "Export to over a dozen different video and audio formats." Too bad none can address the audio problems encountered when importing video clips from iPhoto to iMovie. There's a reason this product is non-refundable!
There is plenty of freeware that will do the job nicely.

    why the cash grab?

    • Written by from Toronto

if you don't mind spending extra its easy to save vids, use full screen, etc... since quicktime seems to be such an integral part of the mac lineup why don't they just make it do everything for free?

    What a piece of junk!

    • Written by

It won't play hardly any formats except QT. There appears to be no plug-ins that would allow playback of other formats. Mac's are the best computers: why are they inextricablty linked to this rotten viewer? I guess Apple just can't pass up another opportunity to shoot itself in it's foot again. Oh well. I doubt you'll see this review, critical comments aren't allowed.

QuickTime 7 Pro - Thatz Whatz UP!

    • Written by from EULESS

I Love It! For exporting, editing, converting, etc. When it comes to audio / video (for $30 bucks!) you can't beat QuickTime Pro. I use it mainly for exporting audio into different formats. Simply put, it's a great tool to have in the shed.

    Doesn't Work for me Either

    • Written by from Livonia

I too did exactly as the e-mail said. I cut and pasted my code to make sure it was exact, and my name as well. It says QuickTime Pro on the area where you enter the code, but none of the upgraded keys are highlighted and so I can't use any of the features. Therefore a one star rating.

Frustrating and I don't look forward to hours on the phone getting to a techie. Any suggestions?

    Worth it

    • Written by from Pleasanton

It's worth the upgrade to purchase the full version. With QuickTime as my main video player, it is extremely useful to have the ability to play a movie in full-screen. I am slightly disappointed in Mac for not including this in the regular version, as full-screen playback is an important part of any video player, but was not let down by the quality upon completing the installation.

    Frustrated

    • Written by from Hurley

Purchased QuickTime Pro so that I could take MPEG/DVD files and cut/paste certain clips into my powerpoint presentations for work. Unfortunately, there are still not showing any such options to cut/paste anything. The files play as if they were still in simple Quicktime (as opposed to Quicktime pro) and there appear to be no tools available to do anything. When I checked the preferences it clearly shows that I am using Quicktime Pro -- but it certainly does not appear that way.

    Nice!

Final Cut Pro is overkill for almost anything I would need to do. What I need a video editing program for is encoding (saving movies into formats for web streaming and my iPod), some basic editing, color correction, slideshows, saving movies from the web, and viewing movies in full screen.

QT Pro does all this and more. For less than $30 this is money well spent.

No excuses for upgrade keys that fail to work

    • Written by from Philadelphia

Well, I've jumped through all the hoops, purchased TWO copies of the software, talked to three Apple techs, and they still can't get my PRO upgrade keys to work.

One tech said something about "You must have a bad key" Well what the heck is a bad key? This product should WORK, immediately, no excuses, no time-wasting phone calls.

    How utterly unlike Apple.
And I still haven't gotten my money back.

    Buyer Beware!

    • Written by from Ottawa

After spending the better part of a day trying to convert a set of digital photos into a slide show with accompanying music from iTunes using Quicktime 7 Pro, including reading the sparse information on slideshows in the Quicktime manual (that is focused almost exclusively on movies), I was unsuccessful. The Apple promo info on the Quicktime pages makes it seem like producing a slideshow is a piece of cake. I finally resorted to calling AppleCare Support only to discover that Quicktime Pro is classified as a "pro" product that requires a fee of $200.00 from a 3rd party technical support company. Despite having AppleCare Support and Apple's statement of support for any Apple software purchased from Apple for 90 days after purchase, there is no mention of the additional and exorbitant fee for technical support for its "Pro" products. The least Apple should do is include a mention of this on its web site and beef up its manual for Quicktime 7 to provide more information and examples for converting digital photos to slideshows.

    Swiss-Army-Knife of Video Compression

    • Written by from Winchester

Don't be discouraged from buying this just because some people are having problems. This is a great tool to use for web compression and even simple editing. Even comes free with Final Cut Studio!
