What is the approximate footprint for the desk mount?
I want to buy this mount for the new iMac with VESA integration, but I am wondering how large the base is (in terms of area). I have a rather small desk size and therefore don't have room for the standard iMac. It's a small piece of information that would help me determine where and if it could be mounted to my desk.

AnswerYou need to order the VESA version of the iMac, you cannot use this with the 2012 model iMac that doesn't ship with the vesa mount rather than the desk stand.

Best AnswerThe stand utilizes a mounting plate which requires five holes be drilled through the desktop. Four small holes at 9/32" and one large 5/8" hole.

How tall is the post?______ Can this be used with any VESA-compatible monitor?______

AnswerThe post is 20" in height plus about 1.5" for the plastic cap. The mounting plate on the arm is not threaded and therefore likely would accept many other standard vesa mounts. The arm is connected to the apple vesa mount which indicates use for other products would seem to be fine. The only caveat i would say is to stay within the limits of the weight limitation which apple indicates as 31 lbs.

Has anyone actually used this product with a 2010 24-inch LED Cinema Display?
They apparently supply a tool (is that correct?) that allows you to take off the original stand. But how easy is it to do? Thanks.

AnswerIt should work
I watched the view on Bretford's website (or you tube cant remember) and its essentially a credit card type plastic card you push a metal pin in to release the stand so you can unscrew it, it is VERY easy from what it looks like- Answered by Barry H from Murray

Since the stand allows the monitor to be held in both portrait and landscape modes does the screen switch as in the iPod Touch or iPhone?
The description states that the computer can be rotated on the stand in portrait and landscape mode and i was wondering if this feature was for storage purposes or if there was an accelorometer (sorry if I spelled that wrong) in the computer that actually turns the screen as in the iPod Touch or iPhone.

AnswerApple Cinema Displays do not have built in accelerometers for automatic orientation detection. If you change the display's orientation, you just need to change the "Rotation" setting in the system's Display Preferences.

Where is the mount for the Macbook?
Yesterday the images were showing the display and the MB Pro mounted on the stand. Today while placing the order I noticed that the laptop mount has disappeared from the image. Is it still part of the package? Or is it a separate order?

I have limited space on a roll-top desk. I hope the post does not have to be mounted to the desk next to the iMac as shown? And how high is the post?

AnswerHi There, I am about to install mine in about 1 hour.
I can tell you this; the post is 20" in height, which is about the height of my 24" Imac, (white version). I believe, the groves should point horizontally with the desk so in a spot comfortable to the user. I will mount the post into the top right of a wood desktop, mounting the articulating arm on the post grove that will point left. This will allow me to position the arm from centre to far right and out from there. There will be no left side of desk coverage. The instructions are not clear as to what is permit-able, The manual seems to suggest that the groves should not face toward or away from you at any time (the diagram seems to indicate so).- Answered by Troy H from Ottawa

Dimensions
Does anyone know the dimensions of the main vertical support — the Pole.
What is the height?
What is the width? If it differs front to back and side to side please provide both measurements
What is the diameter of the base plate that attaches to the bottom of the pole from beneath the table.
Thanks.- Asked by Brandon B from Bowen Island
