ipod touch 4th generation
Is the Zeppelin Mini compatable with the 4th generation ipod touch?

I bought the mini-zeppelin for my father at an Apple store. It would not play with his 4th gen Ipod Touch. I took it to the Apple Store Genius Bar. The tech ran an update from the BW website for the mini-zeppelin. That seems to have solved the problem. I am not sure how the Apple store continues to sell these without the update. I imagine there will be many other customers who will be affected by this problem.

Is the Zeppelin Mini compatible with the Iphone 4 32GB?
Your site shows it compatible with the Iphone 3GS and 3G, and I was wondering if I could use it with the Iphone 4.

Yes it is fully compatible, but you will need a new adapter as the iphone 4 will not fit the supplied iphone 3gs adapter I spoke to B&W and an iphone 4 adapter will be available in the next 3-4 weeks, a small charge will apply....unknown what at this time

Warning - the Zeppelin Mini does not accept digital into the Aux port so do not buy a TOSLINK cable - use a standard analogue 3.5mm cable male/male. I thought my Zeppelin Mini was broken having purchased the toslink!!

Does the iPhone/iPod touch show the Volume Slider when docked, or can you only use the +/- buttons?
Some iPhone and iPod docks, even if marked as 'Made for iPhone', behav slightly differently when you are playing music through them.
Some seem to show the Volume Slider (like you were using headphones), others don't have the volume slider, so there's no indication of the volume level and others show the 'Speaker Volume' overlay icon.

how does the sound compare to the bose sound dock?
- Asked by Tabarius S from Mequon

Answer
I had the original SoundDock which got stolen so I replaced it years ago with the discontinued Apple HiFi which was excellent for sound quality but doesn't charge iPhone 3G onwards so bought the Zeppelin Mini.
Sound from the Zeppelin is shockingly good in my opinion for a unit this size. Bass is surprisingly clear and doesn't seem to distort as much as you approach full volume unlike the Bose. Treble and mid-range seem to be on a par with the Bose.- Answered by Neil C

Answer
This is not a portable speaker system and unlike some of the Bose does not have an internal battery to allow you to take it into the garden, etc.
One of the other answers assumes you are talking about the small CR2032 battery in the remote control unit which I've not replaced in over a year yet.- Answered by Neil C

Does it come with a USB cable in the Box and if not what type of USB conection is in the back of the device or Is it full USB 2.0 or is a mini USB?
- Asked by Ryan K from Wellesley

Best Answer
There is no cable in the box. You need a USB 2.0 A to B male to male cable - not a mini USB cable. This is the type of cable often sold for printers and consists of a standard USB plug at one end and the square type plug at the other. Any good quality cable will be clearly marked - check the gallery pictures on this site for a clear picture of the rear of the machine to see what I mean.

Can it be used as a speaker for Macbook laptop and TV sets?
- Asked by Belle K from Southbank
- Dec 3, 2009
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
You can use this on your Macbook Laptop, you will need a USB cable to get the best sound out of this.
Once connected you need to use the remote to change it into the USB mode (Green Light on the front) then you will need to follow the below:
System Preferences --> Sound --> Output --> Zeppelinmini
This will change the output device and all your sound from the macbook will play through the Zeppelin.
As for TV Sets - the only way I could think you could do this is if you have a 3.5mm headphone jack and use the Aux Port although I don't think this would be worth it to be honest.- Answered by Gary H from Hockley

Answer
According to the Zeppelin Mini brochure available on-line, here's the info on voltage:
Power input voltage
100V - 240V ac 50/60Hz on external
power supply
16V DC on product
So yes, the Z Mini would accept 220 according to their own published information.- Answered by Pauline K from Apo
