Simply plug them into the "Headphone" receptacle. This also will shut off the laptop speakers, though you can control the volume with adjustable volume control on the speakers or once you have that set, you can use you laptop controller as well.

multiple speakers
Hi, is it possible to hook up multiple speakers to 1 iphone/ or pc running itunes?
in our office we love to have music - but because of the size of the office we can not have one pc blasting out loud music - how can we run the same music at different speakers throughout the office - allowing varying levels throughout the office (but playing the same music?!)
please help us!!- Asked by Miss B from Sydney

Answer
You can (simultaniously) stream audio to any number of airport expresses (AE) and the speakers connected to the AEs. You can have the same music but control the volume on each speaker set separately, exactly as you said you want.
All you need is 1 Mac or PC with iTunes and as soon as you power up an AE and configure it it will become visible in iTunes. Look for a rectangle with a triangle in its upper side (the AirTunes icon).
It works from iPhone/iPads too, btw.
AE + powered speakers are by far the easiest and cheapest way to have multi-room music.- Answered by Levente G from South Coogee

Will these speakers attach to the headphone jack of a tv?
I have 26 inch LG led television in my kitchen. I'm looking for a cheap way to improve the sound with small speakers and no AV receiver. The audio out on the back looks to be a standard ipod headphone-sized jack. Are these speakers powered, and do they use a digital out headphone style jack of audio into the speakers?

Answer
Yes, you just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable (such as the Belkin Retractable Mini-Stereo Cable.) You plug one end of the cable (either end) into the AUX IN port on the front of the speakers, and the other end into the iPhone's audio out port (at the top.)

Are they wireless? Do I need to physically plug them into my MacBook Pro?
- Asked by Jackson D from White Plains

Best Answer
You can plug them into an airport express which will stream your itunes music to the speakers. However, the airport express and the speakers need to be plugged into the wall for Power. Only music from itunes will be streamed to the airport express though, not web browser music or system sounds- only itunes music..

Have you ever experienced iPhone interference with these speakers?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, sometimes when the iPhone connects to the AT&T server it causes a loud buzzing noise in external speaker systems.
- Asked by Judy D from Berkeley

Answer
Any unshielded speaker will. The phone will cause interference any time it is on, most especially when its has less than perfect edge signal. It is less frequent when the phone is in 3g.The best solution is to either have the phone in airplane mode when using ipod function or move the phone further away.

Can I set my iMac G5 to play only through the speakers and not through the computer as well?
Since there's no software to install, the only System Preferences audio output option is built-in audio. Is there a way to make it "see" the speakers?

Answer
Generally once plugged into the headphone "in" port, the computer speakers become disabled. They work once the external speakers are disconnected. So, you're good to go!
