Hi Filemaker Users, how does Filemaker pro compare to Access? Is it a true relational database with similar capabilities to Access?
I am looking for a real database program I can use on my mac. I tried the database program that came with Appleworks and was very disappointed. The rest of the programs in the package did most of the tasks most people would want. The database program, though was sadly lacking in capability. It lacked any power other than a list maker and I could do just as well using a table in Word. I am surprised that Microsoft Office for Mac does not contain a version of Access. I have sorely missed it and now I need a database with comparable power to Access. I hope Filemaker pro can provide that power, or I would be glad to take any other suggestions.

FileMaker can import and export to Excel. It can support both .xls and .xlsx file formats.

Can Filemaker pro 10 be installed into Windows XP
I have an iphone but I am currently using Window XP. I need a new organizer such as Filemaker pro 10 and would likemy iPhone to interface with my Widows operating system.

I have a mailing list from appleworks but on my new imac but no way to open it.
I went to a local apple store with my last computer and the geniuses diagnosed a dead HD and got me to buy a new imac. The drive was not dead I later find out so I retrieved a database mailing list that is no longer supported on my new imac. I cannot find an old copy of appleworks to put on the new machine and I don't know if any other product will be able to read it.

How can Filemaker PRO 10 be used to buildl a website
I have a website address but have not built the site yet. I want to use Filemaker Pro 10 in it. What other software would I need? I want to make it as simple as possible to build the site but be able to use the powerful Filemaker Pro software to act as a database for users, visitors, to do business as easily as possible.

Can you personalize and design your own database specific to your business?
I have a work order form (specific to my business) that I would like to digitize it. I personally designed the form and would like to somehow personalize the filemaker to incorporate all the different elements that I need. Could this be done?
