How does this product compare with the EyeTV Hybrid? Does it use the computer processor or offload some or all of the work? (i.e. like TVMax)
I have a TVMax now and love it but notice it is no longer in stock here. So I'm wondering if it has become outdated. Still a bit confused over the product offerings.

Can I use this to play my PlayStation 3 online games on my Mac and record play sessions? Like with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?
I would like to record matches of me playing games online with my PlayStation 3, and upload them to Web sites like Facebook, YouTube, etc., on those really awesome and epic play sessions. The only computer I have is a Mac, and it doesn't support video capture cards made for PCs... so, I suppose this is the only option I have. I would appreciate any feedback I could get on this. If there will be too much of a lag issue between my inputting the controls versus the display on my Mac, I would like to know. Thank you!

Can I use this to watch DirecTv on my computer?
I simply want to watch Directv on the computer. Don't need to record - and I also don't need to control the directv tuner from the Mac - i can always change channels from the satellite tuner itself.

in other words, you just want to use the eyeTV as a tv, correct?
Then yes, you just plug the eyeTV into your DirecTV top box by using the red, white, and yellow plugs (video and sound).
EyeTV is, basically, just a TV. it uses your computer as the screen for the TV. you don't need to record, and you don't need to use the on screen display. you can just plug it into your to box, and use it as another tv.- Answered by SM from Tucson
