Does this come with an AC cable or a charger? How is the battery recharged? "What's in the box" does not indicate exactly what comes in the box

Good news. Yes it does! (Great to help another Aussie out). The Bose® SoundDock® Portable comes with the dock itself, battery, AC cable, remote and some other bits (manual, etc). Just insert the battery into the dock, plug in the AC cable and charge (best to charge overnight when you first get it, to maximise battery life) and your good to go. Enjoy your music the way it was meant to be. Played through Bose speakers! Enjoy and hope this helps!

I'm looking for a system that plugs in and charges while I'm listening at home, and is also portable using the battery. Is this system the one?
- Asked by Janet K from New York

Answer
Yes! The Bose® SoundDock® Portable allows you to charge both the dock and your iPod (depending on what model of iPod you have) while listening at home. Unplug the AC cable from the dock and it transforms into a full blown portable stereo system. Bose® has been able to keep the sound quality and power the same (highly impressive), whether your running the SoundDock® Portable® from the mains or from the in-built battery. When outside the sound quality is amazing! I've had people come over asking what brand it is because they were impressed that such sound was coming from something so small. Hope this helps.

Answer
Unfortunately, there is no option. As soon as you plug your iPod into the dock, it will begin charging. The only time the dock will not charge your iPod, is if the dock goes into sleep mode (or it runs out of battery itself). This happens if your iPod doesn't play any music for over 10 minutes and happens automatically. Other then that, the dock will charge your iPod, whether you want it to or not.

Does it allow for "streaming audio" apps on IPod/IPhone models to continue playing without shutting off after a certain timeframe? (On battery mode)
Altec Lansing/Logitech models power down after 3/15 mins, respectively, as they do not recognize app audio signals and the built in battery power conservation kicks in.
