Is the IPhone 5 compatible with the Bose SoundDock?

Yes, it works with the Lightning to 30-pin adapter. I have the compact adapter, and although the speakers charge the phone as normal and everything acts like you have an iphone 4 docked, I would suggest the corded adapter. The compact one adds a little height and it's easy to wiggle the phone back and forth. If you're going to set it on a table like I do, there's no problem, but if you'll be carrying it around, use the one with the cord so your phone doesn't fall off of the dock.

The base unit will not charge the iphone 5 until Bose or a third party make an adapter, however you an play/listen to music and audio from the iphone 5 by connecting a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable from the headphones jack to the back of the base unit.
This is how I use the Bose portable music system myself with my ipod touch and my iphone 4S. Its just easier to browse for music, podcasts, radio stations and videos while holding the device in your hand. The 30-pin front connecter works best for playing music/audio for extended periods without picking up or touching the device, which I never do. If you are like me and you are randomly change the track from song to song manually, you'll need to connect to back. you just will.
Also I have seen but have never used the wireless adapter on the Bose website that apparently connects to the 30-pin connector and becomes a wireless receiver changing the SoundDock into a wireless music system. Not sure if uses wifi or bluetooth or what, also not sure if works with the portable bose or only the corded stationary one. Another option is to use an hook an Apple TV up to the Portable SoundDock via a mini usb to 3.5mm cable which should any iphone to play wirelessly on this Bose as long as you are on the same wifi network.- Answered by Andrew M from San Francisco

I can't speak officially on behalf of Apple or Bose, but I have the new iphone 4 and it works fine with my Bose Portable Sounddock Station.
One thing that I had to do, was I had to remove the adapter plate that I had inserted for my original iphone and leave the slot open to accept the iphone 4. Why? Not because the iphone is too deep, but because the rubber "Belkin" case I bought for the new iphone 4 makes it not make good contact with the contacts on the base of the Bose.
Now, a word of caution! I've heard that if you remove the plate and go without it, your iphone is more susceptable to movement on the cradle and I've heard of other Bose owners breaking the recepticle pins off at the base. So....be careful!
Hope this helps.......- Answered by David H from Simi Valley

Can I use my portable Bose SoundDock with my TV ?

Answer
Yes you can. I just hooked mine up this evening and it worked. I have a Samsung LED tv, and I'm sure it will work with most modern flat screens. I first tried hooking up to the back of the TV using a two-pronged red/white RCA cable with a 3.5mm mini-headphone jack at the other end. This didn't work. I then realized that the Audio Out jack right next to it was the one to use. So you need this:
A 3.5mm (mini-headphone sized) cable with male connectors at both ends. One end goes into the Audio Out on the back of your TV, and the other goes into the AV slot on the back of your Bose sounddock. You'll be able to hear both the sounddock and your tv's audio at the same time if you want to. I do that, and the two of them together make a nice full sound.- Answered by Jeffrey S from Cranbrook

Absolutely it works. I have to pull off my phone case, but it works without any issues with my 4S. Sounds great too!

Answer
not really, but it could rest easily on a small shelf or metal brackets.
in other words, it doesn't really mount, but it is made to sit on a flat surface or by support underneath. The back of the unit is not flat and would be flush against a wall due to wedge shaped battery pack.- Answered by Andrew M from San Francisco

Is the Bose SoundDock compatible with the 5th gen iPod Nano, to recharge it?
I have just bought a new Nano (5th gen) to replace an old one that no longer works.
My old Bose® SoundDock® will play the iPod, but won't charge it. Does anyone know if this docking station should recharge the Nano? If so, then the problem may be with my docking station- Asked by Katrina D from Pymble

The series one Bose SoundDock will not charge 5th gen Nano. Nor will it work with iPhone or iPod Touch. Do not attempt to connect iPhone as you will risk damage that is not covered under warranty.

Yes, and if you check your manual it tells you what to look for. There's a little LED at the top and in the middle of the SoundDock®, hidden behind the SoundDock® grill. When charging, the LED glows yellow. When it has finished charging, the LED stops glowing. Now, to figure out battery levels, HOLD DOWN the "Off" button on the remote when the SoundDock® is unplugged from the wall socket and/or if your listening to music. If the LED glows GREEN then there's about 70 -100% battery left. If the LED glows YELLOW then there's about 20 - 70% battery left. If the LED glows or is flashing RED then it means there is under 20% battery left, and you'll have to recharge soon. Hope this helps. Remember, all this information can be found in the manual that came with your Bose® SoundDock® Portable.
