No, this adapter comes with the 4th generation iPad. However, it works with the 3rd generation iPad and will charge just as fast as the adapter that came in the box. However, unlike others have noted, your device will NOT charge any faster than normal. Power is drawn, not pushed, so iPad draws as much power as it needs. The new iPad can draw more than the old one, but the old one still draws just as much as it always did.

Can I buy this with a Europen Plug
I don't want to have the whole travel adapter---just want to buy this power adapter in Australia for use in Europe. Don't need the Australian plug at all

Answer
The European wall charger is totally different. It is slim with a much more elegant shape and design which makes the Australian charger look like a brick. You will need to buy a separate charger for Europe (which i did) or just use a power adapter

Answer
It will work in Ireland as the charger is 110-220v. It only comes with the charger part and you will need whatever connector cable goes with your iPhone 5 to plug into the charger.

Will using this charger harm the iPad mini since it is a 12W instead of the 5W one that comes with the mini?
I know that the product page says that it is compatible with iPad mini, but I would like to know if the higher wattage would be harmful to the iPad mini.
Thank you- Asked by Justin W from Spokane Valley

Since the output DC Voltage is 5V so it is very much compatible to charge iPad mini or any device requiring 5VDC. Ipad mini will draw only 1 amp making it 5W operating adapter.
If one use it for iPad 3rd or 4th Gen then these devices will draw 2.4 Amp making it 15W operating adapter.
However 5W adaptor if used in Ipad 3rd or 4th Gen this may damage the Adapter or Ipad or both because these device need more than 2 Amp and which this adapter can't deliver.
Hope you got the point.
Warm Regards

power source 110v or 230v
Can you plug in the charger to either voltage sources
ie USA or Australia?- Asked by Peter G from Auckland

Best Answer
All of apple's iOS power supplies have been universal switching power supplies so there should be no reason why this one shouldn't be as well. As such, just like with the older models this should be able to take any voltage between 110-230v no problem, although obviously you do need the right kind of plug end for whatever country you want to use it in.

Answer
It does not because I ordered like 5 for work place and did not include cables. Very disappointed! They could easily put a one liner stating cable is not included.

Yes, this 12W adapter will work with all generation iPads, and it's been reported to charge the older iPads faster than their original chargers (in some cases by up to 10% or so).

How much faster does the 12W wall charger charge versus using the 10W when charging the 128gb 4th generation iPad?
I was wondering how much faster the 12W charger is in charging the iPad 4th generation, 128GB versus using the 10W charger. Is there a significant difference. I have a few 10W and I'm wondering if I should replace them with 12W chargers. Thanks! :)

Will this suitable for the iPad3?
The iPad3 prints the "max 2.1A" on the back. But this adapter has the output of 2.4A charge current. So I want to know whether this adapter will charge the iPad3 with the 2.4A current or 2.1A current?

Yes. This works with every iOS device that's ever been created. All of them. Period. It won't charge anything other than the iPad 3,4 any faster, but it won't hurt an iPhone/iPod/1st, 2nd Gen iPad
