AnswerYES it works.
I just received the adapter today plugged it in, up and running in no time.

Best AnswerIt will work but the only thing is that it might be very wobbly and your iPod/iPhone/iPad might not fit because of the extra height from the connector

AnswerI'll answer my own question. Yes, the connector charges the device and plays audio of the iPhone 5 or iPad Mini on the Sony dock, but it does not play video.
I don't really need to play video while the device is charging. Besides, the docked device is in the wrong orientation for playing video.
I think Sony and iHome should create docking stations that work with a connector cable and stand rather than a fixed connector. That way, you can watch video in any orientation and leave on any device cover.- Answered by Robert B from Seattle

Will this work with my Oscium iMSO oscilloscope?
The Oscium iMSO is a multi-source oscilloscope which workls beautifully in the iPad2 and iPhone 3GS. Will it work with the iPad mini? The iMSO essentially captures digital traces of the electronic signals, and feeds them to the iMSO app for turn into a pretty picture on screen.

Will it work with my Yamaha MCR-140?
Will this adapter work with the Yamaha MCR-140 mini hi-fi? It has an 'AirWired' iPod/iPhone holder which enables control of the hi-fi by the iPod/iPhone. It also has USB connection, but does not recognise and will not play audio from the iPhone 5 that way.
