what item do I need to transfer picture from ipad to a computer?
I plan to get ipad 4 and wanted to know what I would need to be able to transfer pictures from the ipad to my computer?

No, this device only reads info from the sd card. It will not write any info to the card.

No. Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader will only import photos and videos to 4th Generation iPad or iPad mini. It will not write files from iPad to SD card. When you sync iPad or iPad mini to your PC or Mac, the photos and videos on your iPad are added to your computer's photo library. From your Mac or PC, you can then transfer photos/videos to another storage device.

Yes, the camera adaptor kit, still available from Apple and others. You get two adapters, one for SD, the other for USB cable from the camera.

I purchased one and it doesn't at all. Only works with SD cards. Not micro SD cards in an adapter.

No, because the iPad 3rd generation uses the 30 pin connector. This product uses lightning. Apple makes a SD card reader for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation iPads, which can be found by searching 'Apple Camera Connection kit' or '30 pin to SD' in Google. Apple sells it for $30, and it comes with a USB and SD card adapter.

Will this work on an iPad 2 WiFi
I have recently purchased an iPad 2 Wifi and wondered whether I could use an SD Card Camera reader with it. Most of the Card camera readers I have seen require connection to a USB port which is not fitted to the iPad. I only have a Lightening connector on my iPad and the camera readers I have seen with Lightening cables appear to work with 4th generation iPads only? Grateful for your advice.

No the iPad 2 has a 30 pin dock connector. This is the new lightning connector found on the iPad 4, iPhone 5 and new iPods. This will not work with iPad 2 (the only iPad it will work with is iPad 4)
