Best AnswerIt depends on the way you purchase the cable.
If Included inside the box of your iPhone 5: The cable carries the same warranty as your iPhone 1 year- 2 year depending of you purchase Apple Care. If your cable suffers due to a manufacturer defect then after scheduling a Genius Bar Appointment they will swap the cable for you. Physical damage from the consumer is not covered.
If cable is purchased as a separate accessory: You have 1 year of coverage. This also only covers defects in workmanship. Not Abuse or damage resulting from the consumer.- Answered by Steven B from Cypress

Can I plug this into my iPhone 3gs wall charger and charge the iPad 4?
I can charge my iPhone 5 with the iPhone 3gs wall charger just fine (or the computer). What I would like to do is use the old iPhone 3gs wall plug with this cable at work to charge the iPad 4. I would use the in the box one for home.

AnswerAfter receiving my lightning to USB cable, the answer is yes. With the 5W or the resident 12W wall charger any iPhone or iPad will charge as long as the cable from the wall charger to the product is the correct one (30 pin or lightning).
