I like the protection of the case and would like to purchase one in black leather for my new mini, does this exist, and where can I pick one up?

No it actually doesn't unfortunately. They only come in polyurethane. However I really do like the Smart Cover on mine. I was actually looking for one too. There is a dark gray and light gray cover. There is no leather or black cover though.

No, because the original smart cover is designed to fit the iPad screen, which is sizably larger than the iPad Mini. There are other specific iPad Mini Smart Covers, but no cases yet.

Yes, it is compatable with the iPad 4. The case is made for the 30 pin connector, but it will fit the iPad 4 with the lightning cable with some of the metal showing. Hope this helps.

Yes, the case is compatible with the 3rd gen iPad and the 4th gen iPad, which both have the retina display. And yes, the automatic sleep/wake works with the retina display.

No, the original ipad is too thick for the case. Although there are cases for the ipad 1 which is very similar to the smart case.

I love the Smart Case. I've had it for over 6 months now and it has held up well. The polyurethane surface has a nice, almost suede-like feel, so it does prevent slipping when you hold it.

Smart case is rubber on back and front. cover is rubber or leather on front. smart cover was made for a more design friendly cover with very nice colors. the smart case was built to be able to have a similar design with more protection.

The retina iPad does not have a different form factor but has internal changes that make it an amazing new device. Meaning that this case is designed for & fits iPad 2 & The New iPad. (3rd Generation).

The Apple store employees told me personally that the smart case is better fitted for the ipad 3 and 4 than the ipad 2 since they're both a little thicker than the ipad 2 and be more snug.

My charger doesn't work with Case. It says: Charging is not supported with this Accessory
I recently purchased this case for the iPad with Retina. The case is great, fits well. I don't have any problem with the magnets. But every time I plug in the charger, it says: Charging is not supported with this Accessory. So I removed the case this morning and plugged it in, and now it's charging fine. Is anyone else having this problem?
