engravings: I Pad Polyurethane cover, how many letters/spaces can be used?
- Asked by Cindy F from Mount Laurel

Answer
The best way is not to count letters but to use the Apple Store web site to start the purchase and then fill out your message options. You get to see what it will look like right in your browser before paying for it. You can easily tinker with the engraving "simulator" all day getting just the right look to your message right in your browser. (kinda fun)

Will the new Smart Case fit into the iPad dock?
I have an iPad charging dock. Many of the cases on the market that fit on the back of the iPad will not allow me to place it in the charging dock. Does this design allow me to comfortably fit the iPad in the dock?

Will the engravement be visible with this case
I ordered an iPad mini with a free engravement and I am thinking about purchasing this case, but I want the engravement to be seen.

Answer
With the ipad mini, you can only have the Smart Cover, which only covers the front. That will show the engraving on the back. The iPad mini does not have a Smart Case. Yet.

The case is not redesigned for lightning, isn't it?
- Asked by Abdulkadir E

Best Answer
Well, not really, but according to the bottom of the page, it shows that this cover is compatible for the iPad 4th Gen, which uses the Lightning Port. To me, it looks like it will still work, but is really meant for the 30-pin adapter, so there will be a lot of empty space around the Lightning Port that was meant to fit the original 30-pin.

Dimensions of smart case?
I saw that in one of these questions it said that despite how thin it is, it adds a great deal of height and width. I own a coach sleeve that I put the iPad in when I am not using it but I also want to have the smart case on when I am using it. I don't want to have to remove this every time I put the ipad away. The sleeve I am placing it in fits my iPad pretty snug and I don't have a lot run to add much height or width, so I am wondering how much this case adds over all so I can measure to see if it will fit in the sleeve. No sense in spending $50 if it doesn't fit. Thank you very much for your help =]]

Answer
A magnet is in the lip of the fold furthest from the hinge. When that magnet comes over the right most edge of the iPad, the iPad senses the magnet and takes action, dimming the screen and executing the lock function if you are set to do so. Very smooth, elegant operation.
I give my case a quick snap of the wrist of the hand that holds my ipad from the right side; flipping the hinged tri fold lid up. The lid unrolls and flips into place and shuts off the screen in a ½ second rotate, expand and close action. A brisk 'snap-flap' action. (the ninja lid :-)- Answered by William C from Bristow

Use water with a bit of mild detergent/soap, applying it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Then quickly wipe it dry. Do not use any abrasives or harsh chemicals.

The "Incase Convertible Magazine Jacket for iPad (1st generation)" is the closest thing available and is nearly identical to the smart cover. The Incase Convertible Magazine Jacket has an elastic band that holds it closed and when I carried it around it reminded me of Moleskin sketch/notebooks. With the Incase CMJ you'd be able fold the cover flap so that it becomes a stand to hold the iPad upright for watching movies, or be more comfortable for typing. I never regretted purchasing the Incase CMJ, but be patient for the first two weeks while you're breaking it in. The cover is a little rigid at first and may not want to stand up properly until the seams have softened up a bit from use.
