Best AnswerMac OS X 10.6 correctly uses the SI prefixes, so:
1 kB = 1000 B
1 MB = 1000 kB
1 GB = 1000 MB
1 TB = 1000 GB
Binary prefixes are marked with an "i":
1 kiB = 1024 B
1 MiB = 1024 kiB
1 GiB = 1024 MiB

50 macs in one room & connected to time capsule can i add 20 more macs which is placed in another room & i will use airport express to extend range ?
Customer has 50 Macs in one room and all are connected to time capsule,
now customer purchased 20 more Macs and placed it in another room. customer
now extended the range of time capsule with Airport Express, Can he connect his

Can I connect a non powered 3.0 USB hub to my airport extreme, and add two hard drives...one HDD used for time capsule funtion, other HDD for storing?
I would like to connect 2 hard drives, ideally via 3.0 non powered hub for higher speed than 2.0.
I would like to use one HDD as a backup via time capsule functionaility and the other for files I want to share on my network.
Is this possible?
Is this possible with a 3.0 USB hub (non powered)
If not, what setup would I need (powered? USB 2.0? ...?)
Any implications to a wireless mouse and keyboard as well as air print (apparently USB 3.0 hubs interefere with wireless mice and keyboards somehow ...???)

AnswerYes. You would just setup one as a router and the other as a bridge. Attach an ethernet cable from the router TC internet output to the bridge TC internet input. It would be an extra network drive as well as an access point.

I assume the iBook can only be backuped when it is on and in the area of the time capsule

Best AnswerNo, an iPad backup is accomplished through iTunes by connecting it to your computer, not to a Time Capsule.

Best AnswerYes, but not easily. Long answer is that you would need to partition the time capsule to allow both the Mac Time Machine backups and another partition for Windows. Then you need to find a backup program for Windows that will backup over a network (Window's built in does not by default). Short answer, buy a few cheap external hard drives and make life easier.

can you use time capsule as a hard drive
I am running out of memory and would like to transfer data like photos to another hard drive and erase the photos from my Macbook. Can I use the time capsule or is an external hard drive better. Also I have one but it doesn't show what I have stored in it. It is only for back ups. Want one that I can access and able to view pics, documents etc. Any advice??

Best AnswerA Time Capsule can be used for Time Machine, or it can be used as an external hard drive, but it can't be used for both purposes unless you reserve a fixed amount of file space for storage in advance of initiating Time Machine. (However, the data stored in the reserved space can't be backed up by Time Machine.) Once Time Machine has been started, it will continually expand to use all space on the hard drive that was not first reserved for storage. The decision is up to the user.
If you want backups that you can view, the incremental backup method of Time Machine might not be what you want.
However, to take advantage of both, you can use a Time Capsule for Time Machine, use an external hard drive for your extra storage space, and use another external hard drive for one-time complete backups, the kind that you are used to viewing.- Answered by Andrew H from Carmel

AnswerYes I have my macbook air doing this. You have to be careful there is a setting in parallels that you have to tick regarding time capsule. Initially my macbook air was backing up 37Gb every time (which I think was my windows partition). Once I checked the setting in parallels relating to Timecapsule backups this went down to a more normal backup of a few meg each time. I haven't had to try to retrieve any data so I am presuming the timecapsule backups are working for the windows partition as well - it seems to be doing so.
