AnswerPeople talk about reserving at least 10% of hard disc space. Personally, I'd NEVER allow my system to get to that. It depends on what you are using your computer for. For example, do you edit video or use memory-intense apps that utilise all available ram? You'll want more space on your HD.
If you have any other devices connected to the same network, a solution is a HD connected to your TC's USB which can share files, stream movies etc. wirelessly. This frees up your main drive from media files, which are the bulk of many people's storage needs these days, allowing more space for working files, apps, etc. The main disadvantages to this approach are that this drive will not be backed up automatically by Time Machine, and also it's not a good solution for editing larger files as the transfer rate will be much slower than a directly-connected external drive. If you're just using it for bulk storage, it works well as you can just backup the entire disc manually if/when needed.
If you connect your additional HD direct to the iMac then this drive can also be automatically backed up by TC as normal.- Answered by Chris R from Goonellabah

Can I use 2 BT Home hubs t connect time capsule in another room?
I have my HH2 connected to my TV in the lounge. I need to keep this to get online services. I would like to position my time capsule in my study so I can connect a printer by USB and its too far to connect to my lounge HH by Ethernet.
I have a spare HH which has never been used. Can I plug this in to my telephone socket in the study and use it as a modem for the TC? I need to disable the 2nd HH's wireless if this would work?- Asked by Chris T

Does Time Capsule gets hot quickly?
I've heard that Time Capsule gets hot during Winter, up to 40 degrees Celsius. Then what if Summer comes? Will it overheat?
- Asked by Jonathan T

AnswerNo. I have had a Time Capsule - 2TB for three years, and it has never overheated. I have even kept in a confined space with no air flow. I also stacked other equipment on top of it and beneath it such as a DSL or cable modem, and it still didn't come close to over heating. You will be just fine!

Best AnswerYes (cut and paste below from apple...dont know about speed)
Easy wireless networking.
Connect your DSL or cable modem to Time Capsule, then quickly set it up with the easy-to-use AirPort Utility, which is included for both Mac OS X and Windows. Within minutes, you and up to 50 others can use your Mac computers or PCs to surf the web, stream video, share photos, and more — without wires.3- Answered by Mark G from Belmont

To use the wireless internet with the time capsule. Is it pre paid or a bill (for example pay $100 per month for certain amount of data). ???
- Asked by Atteya T from Kununurra

AnswerThe Time Capsule does not have "wireless internet". It is a wireless router, just like the AirPort Extreme in that regard, and it plugs into your existing Internet service (cable modem, DSL, etc.) and converts your wired Internet service into a local wifi wireless network for your home.
There is no monthly cost associated with the Time Capsule, but you must already have an Internet service for it to plug into.- Answered by Sean F from Eureka Springs

will time capsule slow my internet connection?
Interested in getting a TC to back up from an iMac, macbook pro, and 3 iPhones. Though I am curious to how it would effect the speed of my internet connection rather that just buying a firewire external Hard drive and being diligent with my updates

If Time Machine is backing up daily, can I erase my photos on my macbook pro?
- Asked by Adrian S from Summerfield
- Mar 15, 2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYes and No!
You can erase your photo's but Time Machine routinely deletes older backups to make room for newer backups.
If your photo's just happened to be part of that "older" backup set then its gone!
Time Machine should really ask you if you want to delete stuff before doing it but that's not going to happen unless you file a bug at bugreport.apple.com
or send the marketing people feedback regarding your opinion.- Answered by Shayaan S from Mantua

Let's say i backed up 250 gb worth of data on my Time Capsule, if i delete everything from my hard-drive can i still access all that's backed up?
What i want to do is buy a 2TB Time Capsule, and use that to back-up everything on my 250gb external hard-drive and 200gb hard-drive on my macbook pro. Now if i back all that data up and delete everything on both disks to free up space... will i be able to access the data stored on the Time Capsule? And if so will i be able to move single files or will i have to import ALL the backed-up data back into its disk of origin? Does this make sense?
