What does TB mean when compared to GB?
- Asked by Rachel H from Chester

Best Answer
Mac OS X 10.6 correctly uses the SI prefixes, so:
1 kB = 1000 B
1 MB = 1000 kB
1 GB = 1000 MB
1 TB = 1000 GB
Binary prefixes are marked with an "i":
1 kiB = 1024 B
1 MiB = 1024 kiB
1 GiB = 1024 MiB
1 TiB = 1024 GiB- Answered by Attila T

Can I attach a 3TB TC to another 3GB TC?

Answer
Yes. You would just setup one as a router and the other as a bridge. Attach an ethernet cable from the router TC internet output to the bridge TC internet input. It would be an extra network drive as well as an access point.

No, an iPad backup is accomplished through iTunes by connecting it to your computer, not to a Time Capsule.

Can I back up "Parallels desktop" contents with time capsule?
I got an iMac and want to use with "Parallels Desktop" and run Windows programs.
Can I back up contents in Windows partition with Time Capsule and also
use it as Time Machine for iMac?- Asked by Takeo H from Southlake

Answer
Yes I have my macbook air doing this. You have to be careful there is a setting in parallels that you have to tick regarding time capsule. Initially my macbook air was backing up 37Gb every time (which I think was my windows partition). Once I checked the setting in parallels relating to Timecapsule backups this went down to a more normal backup of a few meg each time. I haven't had to try to retrieve any data so I am presuming the timecapsule backups are working for the windows partition as well - it seems to be doing so.

I recently converted to Imac and macbook pro and have several windows computers. Can i back up my windows computers to my time capsule?

Best Answer
Yes, but not easily. Long answer is that you would need to partition the time capsule to allow both the Mac Time Machine backups and another partition for Windows. Then you need to find a backup program for Windows that will backup over a network (Window's built in does not by default). Short answer, buy a few cheap external hard drives and make life easier.

Answer
People talk about reserving at least 10% of hard disc space. Personally, I'd NEVER allow my system to get to that. It depends on what you are using your computer for. For example, do you edit video or use memory-intense apps that utilise all available ram? You'll want more space on your HD.
If you have any other devices connected to the same network, a solution is a HD connected to your TC's USB which can share files, stream movies etc. wirelessly. This frees up your main drive from media files, which are the bulk of many people's storage needs these days, allowing more space for working files, apps, etc. The main disadvantages to this approach are that this drive will not be backed up automatically by Time Machine, and also it's not a good solution for editing larger files as the transfer rate will be much slower than a directly-connected external drive. If you're just using it for bulk storage, it works well as you can just backup the entire disc manually if/when needed.
If you connect your additional HD direct to the iMac then this drive can also be automatically backed up by TC as normal.- Answered by Chris R from Goonellabah
