I am considering getting an iPad 2, and I am making a list of all the accessories that are necessary. So, I want to know if the dock is necessary.

AnswerNo, the USB cable that comes with iPad is good for syncing and charging. There is even a 10 watt adapter to plug into the wall. If you get a smart cover, or a case that props iPad up, you definitely won't need the dock. Hope that helps.

Will iPad dock allow synching to iTunes on a laptop with low-power USB2 port?
I was disappointed to find that I am unable to use my new iPad 2 with my home computer (Dell Inspiron laptop) because the USB2 ports do not provide enough current, even when on AC adapter.
My iPad got stuck in Recovery Mode partway through the initial firmware installation, and after several calls to Apple Support it was eventually necessary for me to install iTunes on Mom's desktop computer to complete the restore.
Anyway, If I want to use the iPad 2 with iTunes on my own computer I will need some sort of AC-powered USB hub or adapter.
Will the Apple iPad 2 Dock work for this application, or is it also dependent on the source computer to provide power?

I purchased the Apple wireless keyboard, would the dock help as far as using as a stand as thr cover will only slant upwards slightly.

AnswerSTABLE enough, yes.
However, the dock leaves the iPad 2 resting at an angle that would point the rear camera at your hip level. You might be able to film with the Front camera, but the quality would not be worth it, in my honest opinion.- Answered by Ethan G from Bowling Green

AnswerI find it convenient to have the iPad in an upright position when charging, whether on my night stand, kitchen counter, or on my desk at work. I can then have a clock, calendar, or photo slide show running and easily viewable from across the room.

Best AnswerConsidering this dock is specifically made for the iPad2 and the iphone has a different shape than the iPad I don't think this will work.
